1. இவைகளுக்குப் பின்பு, யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்துக்கு யெஸ்ரயேலிலே சமாரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபின் அரமனை அண்டையில் ஒரு திராட்சத்தோட்டம் இருந்தது.

1. And it happened after these things, Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard in Jezreel, near the palace of Ahab the king of Samaria.

2. ஆகாப் நாபோத்தோடே பேசி: உன் திராட்சத்தோட்டம் என் வீட்டிற்கு அடுத்திருக்கிறபடியால், அதைக் கீரைக்கொல்லையாக்கும்படி எனக்குக் கொடு, அதைப்பார்க்கிலும் நல்ல திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை அதற்குப் பதிலாக உனக்குத் தருவேன்; அல்லது உனக்கு வேண்டுமானால், அதின் விலைக்கிரயமான பணத்தைத் தருவேன் என்றான்.

2. And Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, Give me your vineyard, and it shall be a garden of green herbs for me, for it is near my house. And I will give to you in its place a better vineyard than it. If it is good in your eyes, I will give silver to you, the price of this one.

3. நாபோத் ஆகாபை நோக்கி: நான் என் பிதாக்களின் சுதந்தரத்தை உமக்குக் கொடாதபடி கர்த்தர் என்னைக் காப்பாராக என்றான்.

3. And Naboth said to Ahab, Far be it from me, by Jehovah, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you.

4. இப்படி என் பிதாக்களின் சுதந்தரத்தை உமக்குக் கொடேன் என்று யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத் தன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைக்காக ஆகாப் சலிப்பும் சினமுமாய்த் தன் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, போஜனம் பண்ணாமல், தன் கட்டிலின் மேல் படுத்து, தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

4. And Ahab came into his house sullen and angry over the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken. For he had said, I will not give the inheritance of my fathers to you. And he lay on his bed and turned away his face, and would not eat food.

5. அப்பொழுது அவன் மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: நீர் போஜனம் பண்ணாதபடிக்கு, உம்முடைய மனம் சலிப்பாயிருக்கிறது என்ன என்று அவனைக் கேட்டதற்கு,

5. And his wife Jezebel came in to him, and said to him, Why is your spirit sullen that you are not eating food?

6. அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து: நான் யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தோடே பேசி: உன் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை எனக்கு விலைக்கிரயமாய்க் கொடு; அல்லது உனக்கு ராசியானால் அதற்குப் பதிலாக வேறே திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை உனக்குத் தருவேன் என்றேன். அதற்கு அவன்: என் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை உமக்குக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்னான் என்றான்.

6. And he said to her, Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you desire, I will give you a vineyard in its place. And he said, I will not give you my vineyard.

7. அப்பொழுது அவன் மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் இப்போது இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணுகிறவர் அல்லவா? நீர் எழுந்து போஜனம்பண்ணி மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிரும்; யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தின் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை நான் உமக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்.

7. And his wife Jezebel said to him, Do you now rule over Israel? Rise up, eat food and let your heart be good. I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

8. அவள் ஆகாபின் பெயரால் நிருபங்களை எழுதி, அவன் முத்திரையை அவைகளுக்குப் போட்டு, அந்த நிருபங்களை நாபோத் இருக்கும் பட்டணத்தில் அவனோடே குடியிருக்கிற மூப்பரிடத்துக்கும் பெரியோரிடத்துக்கும் அனுப்பினாள்.

8. And she wrote letters in the name of Ahab, and sealed with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles of his city, dwelling with Naboth.

9. அந்த நிருபங்களில் அவள் எழுதினது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் உபவாசம் என்று பிரசித்தப்படுத்தி, நாபோத்தை ஜனத்தின் முன் நிறுத்தி,

9. And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people.

10. தேவனையும் ராஜாவையும் தூஷித்தாய் என்று அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொல்லுகிற பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய இரண்டுபேரை அவனுக்கு எதிராக நிறுத்தி, அவனை வெளியே கொண்டுபோய் அவன் சாகும்படிக்கு அவனைக் கல்லெறியுங்கள் என்று எழுதினாள்.

10. And set two men, sons of worthlessness, across from him; and they shall testify of him, saying, You have cursed God and the king. And they shall bring him out and stone him; and he shall die.

11. அவன் பட்டணத்திலே குடியிருக்கிற மூப்பரும் பெரியோருமாகிய அவன் பட்டணத்து மனுஷர், யேசபேல் தங்களுக்கு அனுப்பின நிருபங்களில் எழுதிக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடியே செய்தார்கள்.

11. And the men of his city, the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, as was written in the letters that she sent to them.

12. அவர்கள் உபவாசம் என்று பிரசித்தப்படுத்தி நாபோத்தை ஜனத்தின் முன்னே நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

12. They proclaimed a fast, and made Naboth to sit at the head of the people.

13. அப்பொழுது பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய இரண்டுபேர் வந்து, அவனுக்கு எதிராக உட்கார்ந்து: நாபோத் தேவனையும் ராஜாவையும் தூஷித்தான் என்று ஜனத்திற்கு முன்பாக அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொன்னார்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு அவனைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோய், அவன் சாகும்படிக்கு அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து,

13. And two men, sons of worthlessness, came in and sat across from him. And the men of worthlessness testified of him before the people, even Naboth, saying, Naboth has cursed God and the king. And they took him out to the outside of the city, and stoned him with stones. And he died.

14. பிற்பாடு யேசபேலுக்கு, நாபோத் கல்லெறியுண்டு செத்தான் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினார்கள்.

14. And they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth has been stoned and is dead.

15. நாபோத் கல்லெறியுண்டு செத்ததை யேசபேல் கேட்டபோது, ஆகாபை நோக்கி: நீர் எழுந்திருந்து, யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத் உமக்கு விலைக்கிரயமாய்க் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்ன திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாய் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்; நாபோத் உயிரோடில்லை, அவன் செத்துப் போனான் என்றாள்.

15. And it happened when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned, and was dead, Jezebel said to Ahab, Rise up, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, that he refused to give to you for silver. For Naboth is not alive, but dead.

16. நாபோத் செத்துப்போனதை ஆகாப் கேட்டபோது, அவன் யெஸ்ரயேலனாகிய நாபோத்தின் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாய் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்படி எழுந்து போனான்.

16. And it happened, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, Ahab rose to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

17. கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாவுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று, அவர்:

17. And the Word of Jehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

18. நீ எழுந்து, சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபைச் சந்திக்கும்படி போ; இதோ, அவன் நாபோத்தின் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைச் சொந்தமாய் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள அங்கே போயிருக்கிறான்.

18. Rise up, Go down to meet Ahab the king of Israel, who is in Samaria. Behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to possess it.

19. நீ அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ கொலை செய்ததும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டதும் இல்லையோ என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நாய்கள் நாபோத்தின் இரத்தத்தை நக்கின ஸ்தலத்திலே உன்னுடைய இரத்தத்தையும் நாய்கள் நக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

19. And you shall speak to him, saying, So says Jehovah, Have you murdered, and also taken possession? And you shall speak to him, saying, So says Jehovah, In the place where the dogs lick the blood of Naboth, so the dogs shall lick your blood, even yours.

20. அப்பொழுது ஆகாப் எலியாவை நோக்கி: என் பகைஞனே, என்னைக் கண்டுபிடித்தாயா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்ய நீ உன்னை விற்றுப்போட்டாய்.

20. And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

21. நான் உன்மேல் பொல்லாப்பு வரப்பண்ணி, உன் சந்ததியை அழித்துப் போட்டு, ஆகாபுக்கு சுவரில் நீர்விடும் ஒரு நாயாகிலும் இராதபடிக்கு இஸ்ரவேலில் அடைபட்டவனையும் விடுபட்டவனையும் சங்கரித்து,

21. Behold, I shall bring evil on you, and shall take away your posterity, and cut off to Ahab him who urinates against a wall, both bond and free in Israel.

22. நீ எனக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்கி, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணினதினிமித்தம், உன்னுடைய குடும்பத்தை நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் குடும்பத்துக்கும், அகியாவின் குமாரனாகிய பாஷாவின் குடும்பத்துக்கும் சமானமாக்குவேன் என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.

22. And I shall give up your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked to anger, and have caused Israel to sin.

23. யேசேபேலையும் குறித்துக் கர்த்தர்: நாய்கள் யேசபேலை யெஸ்ரவேலின் மதில் அருகே தின்னும்.

23. And also Jehovah has spoken of Jezebel, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

24. ஆகாபின் சந்ததியில் பட்டணத்திலே சாகிறவனை நாய்களும், வெளியிலே சாகிறவனை ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும் தின்னும் என்றார்.

24. He who dies of Ahab in the city, the dogs shall eat. And the birds of the heaven shall eat him who dies in a field.

25. தன் மனைவியாகிய யேசபேல் தூண்டிவிட்டபடியே, கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்ய, தன்னை விற்றுப்போட்ட ஆகாபைப்போல ஒருவனுமில்லை.

25. Surely, none has been like Ahab, who sold himself to do that which was evil in the eyes of Jehovah, whom his wife Jezebel incited.

26. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்னின்று துரத்திவிட்ட எமோரியர் செய்தபடியெல்லாம், அவன் நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களைப் பின்பற்றி, மகா அருவருப்பாய் நடந்துகொண்டான்.

26. And he did abominably, to go after idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom Jehovah expelled from before the sons of Israel.

27. ஆகாப் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டபோது, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்து, தன் சரீரத்தின்மேல் இரட்டைப்போர்த்துக்கொண்டு, உபவாசம்பண்ணி, இரட்டிலே படுத்துத் தாழ்மையாய் நடந்துகொண்டான்.

27. And it happened, when Ahab heard these words, he tore his garments, and put sackcloth on his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

28. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாவுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று, அவர்:

28. And the Word of Jehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29. ஆகாப் எனக்கு முன்பாகத் தன்னைத் தாழ்த்தினதைக் கண்டாயா? அவன் எனக்கு முன்பாகத் தன்னைத் தாழ்த்துகிறபடியினால், நான் அவன் நாட்களில் அந்தப் பொல்லாப்பை வரப்பண்ணாமல், அவன் குமாரன் நாட்களில் அதை அவன் வீட்டின்மேல் வரப்பண்ணுவேன் என்றார்.

29. Have you seen that Ahab has been humbled before Me? Because he was humbled before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days. I will bring the evil on his house in the days of his son.
