1. யோசேப்பு எகிப்துக்குக் கொண்டு போகப்பட்டான். பார்வோனுடைய பிரதானியும் தலையாரிகளுக்கு அதிபதியுமாகிய போத்திபார் என்னும் எகிப்து தேசத்தான் அவனை அவ்விடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்த இஸ்மவேலரிடத்தில் விலைக்கு வாங்கினான்.

1. Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt by the Ishmaelites. And Potiphar, an Egyptian leader, the head of the soldiers of Pharaoh's house, bought him from the Ishmaelites.

2. கர்த்தர் யோசேப்போடே இருந்தார், அவன் காரியசித்தியுள்ளவனானான்; அவன் எகிப்தியனாகிய தன் எஜமானுடைய வீட்டிலே இருந்தான்.

2. The Lord was with Joseph, and all went well with him. He was in the house of his boss the Egyptian.

3. கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருக்கிறார் என்றும், அவன் செய்கிற யாவையும் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணுகிறார் என்றும், அவன் எஜமான் கண்டு;

3. Now his boss saw that the Lord was with him. He saw how the Lord made all that Joseph did go well.

4. யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் தயவுவைத்து, அவனைத் தனக்கு ஊழியக்காரனும் தன் வீட்டுக்கு விசாரணைக்காரனுமாக்கி, தனக்கு உண்டான யாவற்றையும் அவன் கையில் ஒப்புவித்தான்.

4. So Joseph found favor in his eyes, and worked only for him. Potiphar made him the one to watch over his house and take care of all that he owned.

5. அவனைத் தன் வீட்டுக்கும் தனக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் விசாரணைக்காரனாக்கினது முதற்கொண்டு, கர்த்தர் யோசேப்பினிமித்தம் அந்த எகிப்தியன் வீட்டை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்; வீட்டிலும் வெளியிலும் அவனுக்கு உண்டானவைகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் இருந்தது.

5. And from the time that he watched over his house and all he owned, the Lord brought good to the Egyptian's house because of Joseph. The Lord brought good upon all that he owned in the house and in the field.

6. ஆகையால், அவன் தனக்கு உண்டானதையெல்லாம் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துவிட்டு, தான் புசிக்கிற போஜனம் தவிர தன்னிடத்திலிருந்த மற்றொன்றைக்குறித்தும் விசாரியாதிருந்தான். யோசேப்பு அழகான ரூபமும் சௌந்தரிய முகமும் உள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

6. So he put all he owned in Joseph's care. Having Joseph near, he did not need to think about anything but the food he ate. Now Joseph was strong and good-looking.

7. சிலநாள் சென்றபின், அவனுடைய எஜமானின் மனைவி யோசேப்பின்மேல் கண்போட்டு, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள்.

7. The time came when his boss's wife saw him, and she said, 'Lie with me.'

8. அவனோ தன் எஜமானுடைய மனைவியின் சொல்லுக்கு இணங்காமல், அவளை நோக்கி: இதோ, வீட்டிலே என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறவைகளில் யாதொன்றைக்குறித்தும் என் ஆண்டவன் விசாரியாமல், தமக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் என்கையில் ஒப்பித்திருக்கிறார்.

8. But he would not do it. He said to his boss's wife, 'See, with me near, my boss does not worry about anything in the house. He has put all he owns in my care.

9. இந்த வீட்டிலே என்னிலும் பெரியவன் இல்லை; நீ அவருடைய மனைவியாயிருக்கிறபடியால் உன்னைத்தவிர வேறோன்றையும் அவர் எனக்கு விலக்கி வைக்கவில்லை; இப்படியிருக்க, நான் இத்தனை பெரிய பொல்லாங்குக்கு உடன்பட்டு, தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்வது எப்படி என்றான்.

9. There is no one more important in this house than I. And he has held nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this sinful thing, and sin against God?'

10. அவள் நித்தம் நித்தம் யோசேப்போடே இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டு வந்தும், அவன் அவளுடனே சயனிக்கவும் அவளுடனே இருக்கவும் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.

10. She spoke to Joseph day after day. But he did not listen to her. He would not lie with her or be with her.

11. இப்படியிருக்கும்போது, ஒருநாள் அவன் தன் வேலையைச் செய்கிறதற்கு வீட்டுக்குள் போனான்; வீட்டு மனிதரில் ஒருவரும் வீட்டில் இல்லை.

11. Then one day Joseph went into the house to do his work. None of the men of the house were inside.

12. அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைப் பற்றிப் பிடித்து, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள். அவனோ தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான்.

12. She caught him by his coat, saying, 'Lie with me!' But he ran out of the house leaving the coat in her hand.

13. அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனதை அவள் கண்டபோது,

13. When she saw that he had left his coat in her hand and had run out of the house,

14. அவள் தன் வீட்டு மனிதரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: பாருங்கள், எபிரெய மனுஷன் நம்மிடத்தில் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு அவனை நமக்குள் கொண்டுவந்தார், அவன் என்னோடே சயனிக்கும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்; நான் மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டேன்.

14. she called the men of her house. And she said to them, 'See, this Hebrew has been brought to us to make fun of us. He came in to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.

15. நான் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிடுகிறதை அவன் கேட்டு, தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு, வெளியே ஓடிப்போய்விட்டான் என்று சொன்னாள்.

15. When he heard my loud cry, he left his coat with me and ran outside.'

16. அவனுடைய எஜமான் வீட்டுக்கு வருமளவும் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைத் தன்னிடத்தில் வைத்திருந்து,

16. She kept his coat with her until his boss came home.

17. அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் நம்மிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்த அந்த எபிரெய வேலைக்காரன் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்.

17. Then she told him the same story, saying, 'The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came to me to lie with me.

18. அப்பொழுது நான் சத்தமிட்டுக்கூப்பிட்டேன், அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான் என்றாள்.

18. But when I called out in a loud voice, he left his coat with me and ran outside.'

19. உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரன் எனக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தான் என்று தன் மனைவி தன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை அவனுடைய எஜமான் கேட்டபோது, அவனுக்குக் கோபம் மூண்டது.

19. When his boss heard his wife's story and her words, 'This is what your servant did to me,' he became very angry.

20. யோசேப்பின் எஜமான் அவனைப்பிடித்து, ராஜாவின் கட்டளையால் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் இருக்கும் சிறைச்சாலையிலே அவனை ஒப்புவித்தான். அந்தச் சிறைச்சாலையில் அவன் இருந்தான்.

20. So Joseph's boss took him and put him in prison, the place where the men who did wrong against the king were put in chains. So there he was in prison.

21. கர்த்தரோ யோசேப்போடே இருந்து, அவன்மேல் கிருபைவைத்து, சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவனுடைய தயவு அவனுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்படி செய்தார்.

21. But the Lord was with Joseph, and showed him kindness. He gave him favor in the eyes of the man who watched over the prison.

22. சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்பட்ட யாவரையும் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புவித்தான்; அங்கே அவர்கள் செய்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் யோசேப்பு செய்வித்தான்.

22. The head of the prison put all the men who were in prison into Joseph's care. So whatever was done there was because of Joseph.

23. கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருந்தபடியினாலும், அவன் எதைச் செய்தானோ அதைக் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணினபடியினாலும், அவன் வசமாயிருந்த யாதொன்றையும் குறித்துச் சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் விசாரிக்கவில்லை.

23. The head of the prison did not worry about anything under Joseph's care, because the Lord was with him. The Lord made all go well with whatever Joseph did.
