1. கர்த்தர் எனக்குச் சொல்லியபடி நாம் திரும்பி, சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்திற்குப் போகிற வழியாய் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, அநேக நாள் சேயீர் நாட்டை சுற்றித்திரிந்தோம்.

1. Then we turned our face, & toke our iourney into the wyldernesse, euen by the way of the red sea, as the Lorde spake vnto me: And we compassed mount Seir a long tyme.

2. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி:

2. And the Lord spake vnto me, saying:

3. நீங்கள் இந்த மலைநாட்டைச் சுற்றித்திரிந்தது போதும்; வடக்கே திரும்புங்கள்.

3. Ye haue compassed this mountayne long inough, turne you northwarde.

4. ஜனங்களுக்கு நீ கட்டளையிடவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: சேயீரிலே குடியிருக்கிற ஏசாவின் புத்திரரான உங்கள் சகோதரரின் எல்லையைக் கடக்கப்போகிறீர்கள்; அவர்கள் உங்களுக்குப் பயப்படுவார்கள்; நீங்களோ மிகவும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்;

4. Aud warne thou ye people, saying: Ye shall go through the coast of your brethren the chyldren of Esau which dwelt in Seir, and they shalbe afraide of you.

5. அவர்களோடே போர்செய்யவேண்டாம்; அவர்கள் தேசத்திலே ஒரு அடி நிலமும் உங்களுக்குக் கொடேன்; சேயீர் மலைநாட்டை ஏசாவுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறேன்.

5. Take ye good heede vnto your selues therfore: Ye shall not prouoke them, for I wyll not geue you of their lande, no not so much as a foote breadth, because I haue geuen mount Seir vnto Esau to possesse.

6. போஜனபதார்த்தங்களை அவர்கள் கையிலே பணத்திற்கு வாங்கிப் புசித்து, தண்ணீரையும் அவர்கள் கையிலே பணத்திற்கு வாங்கிக் குடியுங்கள்.

6. Ye shall bye meate of them for money, to eate, and ye shall procure water of them for money, to drinke.

7. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் கைக்கிரியைகளிலெல்லாம் உன்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து வருகிறார்; இந்தப் பெரிய வனாந்தரவழியாய் நீ நடந்துவருகிறதை அறிவார்; இந்த நாற்பது வருஷமும் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னோடே இருந்தார்; உனக்கு ஒன்றும் குறைவுபடவில்லை என்று சொல் என்றார்.

7. For the Lorde thy God hath blessed thee in all the workes of thy hande, and knoweth thy walkyng through this great wyldernesse this fourtie yeres, and the Lorde thy God hath ben with thee, so that thou hast lacked nothing.

8. அப்படியே நாம் சேயீரிலே குடியிருக்கிற நம்முடைய சகோதரராகிய ஏசாவின் புத்திரரை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, அந்தரவெளி வழியாய் ஏலாத்மேலும், எசியோன்கேபேர்மேலும் போய், திரும்பிக்கொண்டு, மோவாப் வனாந்தரவழியாய் வந்தோம்.

8. And when we were departed from our brethren the children of Esau which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the wyldernesse from Elath, & from Ezion Gaber, we turned and went by the way of the wyldernesse of Moab.

9. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: நீ மோவாபை வருத்தப்படுத்தாமலும், அவர்களோடே போர்செய்யாமலும் இரு; அவர்கள் தேசத்தில் உனக்கு ஒன்றும் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடேன்; ஆர் என்னும் பட்டணத்தின் சீமையை லோத் புத்திரருக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தேன்.

9. And the Lorde sayd vnto me: Thou shalt not fight agaynst the Moabites, neither prouoke them to battayle: for I wyll not geue thee of their lande to possesse, because I haue geuen Ar vnto the chyldren of Loth to possesse.

10. திரளானவர்களும், ஏனாக்கியரைப் போல நெடியவர்களுமான பலத்த ஜனங்களாகிய ஏமியர் அதில் முன்னே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

10. The Emims dwelt therin in tymes past, a people great, many, and tall, as the Anakims,

11. அவர்களும் ஏனாக்கியரையொத்த இராட்சதர் என்று எண்ணப்பட்டார்கள், மோவாபியரோ அவர்களை ஏமியர் என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

11. Whiche also were taken for giauntes as the Anakims, whom the Moabites call Emims.

12. ஓரியரும் சேயீரில் முன்னே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தாரை இஸ்ரவேல் துரத்தினதுபோல, ஏசாவின் புத்திரர் அந்த ஓரியரைத் துரத்தி, அவர்களைத் தங்கள் முகத்திற்கு முன்பாக அழித்து, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்தில் குடியேறினார்கள்.

12. The Horims also dwelt in Seir before tyme, whom the chyldren of Esau chased out, & destroyed them before them, and dwelt in their steade, as Israel did vnto the lande of his possession, whiche the Lorde gaue them.

13. நீங்கள் எழுந்து, சேரேத் ஆற்றைக்கடந்து போங்கள் என்று சொன்னார்; அப்படியே சேரேத் ஆற்றைக் கடந்தோம்.

13. Nowe ryse vp [sayde] and get you ouer the riuer Zared: and we went ouer the riuer Zared.

14. யுத்த மனிதரான அந்தச் சந்ததியெல்லாம் கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டபடியே பாளயத்தின் நடுவிலிருந்து மாண்டுபோக, நாம் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டது முதற்கொண்டு, சேரேத் ஆற்றைக் கடக்குமட்டும், சென்ற காலம் முப்பத்தெட்டு வருஷமாயிற்று.

14. The space in whiche we came from Cades Barnea, vntill we were come ouer the riuer Zared, was thirtie and eyght yeres, vntyll all the generation of the men of warre were wasted out from a mong the hoast, as the Lorde sware vnto them.

15. அவர்கள் பாளயத்தின் நடுவிலிருந்து மாண்டு ஒழியுமட்டும் கர்த்தரின் கை அவர்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கும்படிக்கு அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாயிருந்தது.

15. For in deede the hande of the Lorde was against them to destroy them fro among ye hoast, til they were cosumed.

16. யுத்தமனிதர் எல்லாரும் ஜனத்தின் நடுவிலிருந்து செத்துத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு,

16. And so it came to passe, that all the men of warre were consumed and dead from among the people.

17. கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி:

17. And the Lord spake vnto me, saying:

18. நீ ஆர் பட்டணம் இருக்கிற மோவாபின் எல்லையை இன்றைக்குக் கடந்து,

18. Thou shalt go thorowe Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

19. அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு எதிராகச் சேரப்போகிறாய்; நீ அவர்களை வருத்தப்படுத்தவும் அவர்களோடே போர்செய்யவும் வேண்டாம்; அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேசத்தில் ஒன்றும் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடேன்; அதை லோத் புத்திரருக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறேன்.

19. And when thou commest nye vnto the chyldren of Ammon, thou shalt not lay siege vnto the, nor moue warre against them: For I wyll not geue thee of the lande of the chyldren of Ammon any possession, but I haue geuen it vnto the chyldren of Loth to possesse.

20. அதுவும் இராட்சதருடைய தேசமாக எண்ணப்பட்டது; முற்காலத்தில் இராட்சதர் அதிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள், அம்மோனியர் அவர்களைச் சம்சூமியர் என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

20. That also was taken for a lande of giauntes, and giauntes dwelt therin in olde tyme, whom the Ammonites call Zamzummims.

21. அவர்கள் திரளானவர்களும் ஏனாக்கியரைப்போல நெடியவர்களுமான பலத்த ஜனங்களாயிருந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தரோ சேயீரில் குடியிருந்த ஏசாவின் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாக ஓரியரை அழிக்க, அவர்கள் அந்த ஜனங்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டு, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்தில் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் குடியிருக்கிறதுபோலவும்,

21. A people that was great, many, and tall, as the Anakims: But the Lorde destroyed them before them, and they succeeded them in their inheritaunce, and dwelt in their steade:

22. கப்தோரிலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட கப்தோரியர் ஆசேரீம் தொடங்கி ஆசாமட்டும் குடியிருந்த ஆவியரை அழித்து, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்திலே குடியேறினது போலவும்,

22. As he dyd for the chyldren of Esau, whiche dwell in Seir, for whom he destroyed the Horims before them, and they possessed them, and dwelt in their steade vnto this day.

23. கர்த்தர் அவர்களை இவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழியப்பண்ண, இவர்கள் அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டு, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்திலே குடியேறினார்கள்.

23. And the Auims which dwelt in Hazarim, euen vnto Azza, the Caphthorims whiche came out of Caphthor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their steade.

24. நீங்கள் எழுந்து பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, அர்னோன் ஆற்றைக் கடந்துபோங்கள்; எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோன் என்னும் எமோரியனையும் அவன் தேசத்தையும் உன் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்; இதுமுதல் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படி அவனோடே யுத்தஞ்செய்.

24. Rise ye vp therefore, & take your iourney ouer the ryuer Arnon: Beholde, I haue geuen into thy hande Sehon the Amorite, king of Hesbon and his lande: begin to possesse it, and prouoke hym to battayle.

25. வானத்தின்கீழ் எங்குமுள்ள ஜனங்கள் உன்னாலே திகிலும் பயமும் அடையும்படி செய்ய இன்று நான் தொடங்குவேன்; அவர்கள் உன் கீர்த்தியைக் கேட்டு, உன்னிமித்தம் நடுங்கி, வேதனைப்படுவார்கள் என்றார்.

25. This day will I beginne to sende the feare and dread of thee vpon al nations that are vnder all the heauen, so that they whiche heare speake of thee, shall tremble and quake before thee.

26. அப்பொழுது நான் கெதெமோத் வனாந்தரத்திலிருந்து எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனிடத்தில், சமாதான வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லும்படி ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி:

26. And so I sent messengers out of ye wildernes of Kedemoth, vnto Sehon king of Hesbo, with wordes of peace, saying:

27. நான் உம்முடைய தேசத்தைக் கடந்துபோகும்படி உத்தரவுகொடும்; வலதுபுறம் இடதுபுறம் சாயாமல் பெரும்பாதை வழியாய் நடப்பேன்.

27. Let me passe through thy lande, I wyll go along by the hye way, I wyll neither turne vnto the ryght hande, nor to the left.

28. சேயீரில் குடியிருக்கிற ஏசாவின் புத்திரரும், ஆர் பட்டணத்தில் குடியிருக்கிற மோவாபியரும் எனக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, நீரும், நான் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்தில் சேருமட்டும்,

28. Thou shalt sell me meate for money, for to eate, & geue me water for money, for to drinke: Only I wyll go through on my feete,

29. எனக்குப் புசிக்க ஆகாரத்தையும் குடிக்கத் தண்ணீரையும் கிரயத்துக்குத் தாரும்; நான் கால்நடையாய்க் கடந்து போகமாத்திரம் உத்தரவுகொடும் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினேன்.

29. As the children of Esau, which dwel in Seir, and the Moabites which dwel in Ar, dyd vnto me, vntyll I be come ouer Iordane, into the lande which the Lorde our God geueth vs.

30. ஆனாலும் தன் தேசத்தைக் கடந்து போகும்படி, எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோன் நமக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவில்லை; இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறதுபோல, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவனை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்படி, அவன் மனதைக் கடினப்படுத்தி, அவன் இருதயத்தை உரங்கொள்ளப்பண்ணியிருந்தார்.

30. But Sehon ye kyng of Hesbon woulde not let vs passe by hym: for the Lorde thy God hardened his spirite, and made his heart obstinate, because he woulde deliuer him into thy hande, as it is come to passe this day.

31. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: இதோ, சீகோனையும் அவன் தேசத்தையும் உனக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்போகிறேன்; இதுமுதல் அவன் தேசத்தை வசப்படுத்தி, சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள் என்றார்.

31. And the Lord said vnto me: Beholde, I haue begunne to geue Sehon & his lande before thee: begynne to possesse and inherite his lande.

32. சீகோன் தன்னுடைய எல்லா ஜனங்களோடுங்கூட நம்மோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டு, யாகாசிலே வந்தான்.

32. Then both Sehon and all his people came out agaynst vs to fight at Iaza.

33. அவனை நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; நாம் அவனையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் அவனுடைய சகல ஜனங்களையும் முறிய அடித்து,

33. And the Lorde set hym before vs, and we smote hym, and his sonnes, and all his people.

34. அக்காலத்தில் அவன் பட்டணங்களையெல்லாம் பிடித்து, சகல பட்டணங்களிலும் இருந்த ஸ்திரீ புருஷரையும், பிள்ளைகளையும், ஒருவரையும் மீதியாக வைக்காமல் சங்காரம்பண்ணினோம்.

34. And we toke all his cities the same season, and slue the men, women, and children of all the cities, and let nothyng remayne,

35. மிருகஜீவன்களையும் நாம் பிடித்த பட்டணங்களில் கொள்ளையடித்த பொருள்களையுமாத்திரம் நமக்கென்று வைத்துக்கொண்டோம்.

35. Saue the cattell onely we caught vnto our selues, and the spoyle of the cities which we toke.

36. அர்னோன் ஆற்றங்கரையில் இருக்கிற ஆரோவேரும் ஆற்றண்டையில் இருக்கிற பட்டணமும் தொடங்கி, கீலேயாத்வரைக்கும் நமக்கு எதிர்த்து நிற்கத்தக்க அரணிப்பான பட்டணம் இருந்ததில்லை, எல்லாவற்றையும் நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

36. From Aroer which is by the brinke of the riuer of Arnon, and from the citie that is in the riuer, vnto Gilead, there was not one citie to strong for vs: The Lorde our God deliuered all vnto vs.

37. அம்மோன் புத்திரருடைய தேசத்தையும், யாபோக் ஆற்றங்கரையிலுள்ள இடங்களையும், மலைகளிலுள்ள பட்டணங்களையும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்கு விலக்கின மற்ற இடங்களையும் சேராமல் விலகிப்போனாய்.

37. Only vnto the lande of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor vnto euery place of the riuer Iabock, nor vnto the cities in the mountaynes, nor vnto whatsoeuer the Lorde our God forbad vs.
