2. மனுஷன் தன் வாயின் பலனால் நன்மையைப் புசிப்பான்; துரோகிகளின் ஆத்துமாவோ கொடுமையைப் புசிக்கும்.

2. Wise words will win you a good meal, but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.

3. தன் வாயைக் காக்கிறவன் தன் பிராணனைக் காக்கிறான்; தன் உதடுகளை விரிவாய்த் திறக்கிறவனோ கலக்கமடைவான்.

3. Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.

4. சோம்பேறியுடைய ஆத்துமா விரும்பியும் ஒன்றும் பெறாது; ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவர்களுடைய ஆத்துமாவோ புஷ்டியாகும்;

4. Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.

5. நீதிமான் பொய்ப்பேச்சை வெறுக்கிறான்; துன்மார்க்கனோ வெட்கமும் இலச்சையும் உண்டாக்குகிறான்.

5. The godly hate lies; the wicked cause shame and disgrace.

6. நீதி உத்தமமார்க்கத்தானைத் தற்காக்கும்; துன்மார்க்கமோ பாவியைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போடும்.

6. Godliness guards the path of the blameless, but the evil are misled by sin.

7. ஒன்றுமில்லாதிருக்கத் தன்னைச் செல்வனாகப் பாராட்டுகிறவனும் உண்டு; மிகுந்த செல்வமிருக்கத் தன்னைத் தரித்திரனாகப் பாராட்டுகிறவனும் உண்டு.

7. Some who are poor pretend to be rich; others who are rich pretend to be poor.

8. மனுஷனுடைய ஐசுவரியம் அவன் பிராணனை மீட்கும்; தரித்திரனோ மிரட்டுதலைக் கேளாதிருக்கிறான்.

8. The rich can pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor won't even get threatened.

9. நீதிமான்களின் வெளிச்சம் சந்தோஷிப்பிக்கும்; துன்மார்க்கரின் தீபமோ அணைந்துபோகும்.

9. The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the light of the wicked will be snuffed out.

10. அகந்தையினால் மாத்திரம் வாது பிறக்கும்; ஆலோசனையைக் கேட்கிறவர்களிடத்திலோ ஞானம் உண்டு.

10. Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.

11. வஞ்சனையால் தேடின பொருள் குறைந்துபோகும்; கைப்பாடாய்ச் சேர்க்கிறவனோ விருத்தியடைவான்.

19. வாஞ்சை நிறைவேறுவது ஆத்துமாவுக்கு இனிது; தீமையை விட்டு விலகுவது மூடருக்கு அருவருப்பு.

19. It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to attain them.

20. ஞானிகளோடே சஞ்சரிக்கிறவன் ஞானமடைவான்; மூடருக்குத் தோழனோ நாசமடைவான்.

22. நல்லவன் தன் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளுக்குச் சுதந்தரம் வைத்துப்போகிறான்; பாவியின் ஆஸ்தியோ நீதிமானுக்காகச் சேர்த்துவைக்கப்படும்.

22. Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner's wealth passes to the godly.

23. ஏழைகளின் வயல் மிகுதியான ஆகாரத்தை விளைவிக்கும்; நியாயம் கிடையாமல் கெட்டுப்போகிறவர்களும் உண்டு.

23. A poor person's farm may produce much food, but injustice sweeps it all away.

24. பிரம்பைக் கையாடாதவன் தன் மகனைப் பகைக்கிறான்; அவன்மேல் அன்பாயிருக்கிறவனோ அவனை ஏற்கனவே தண்டிக்கிறான்.

24. Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

25. நீதிமான் தனக்குத் திருப்தியாகப் புசிக்கிறான்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வயிறோ பசித்திருக்கும்.

25. The godly eat to their hearts' content, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.
