1. கர்த்தாவே, என் இருதயம் இறுமாப்புள்ளதல்ல, என் கண்கள் மேட்டிமையுள்ளவைகளுமல்ல; பெரிய காரியங்களிலும், எனக்கு மிஞ்சின கருமங்களிலும் நான் தலையிடுகிறதுமில்லை.

1. A Song of Degrees. O Lord, my heart is not exalted, neither have my eyes been [haughtily] raised: neither have I exercised myself in great [matters], nor in things too wonderful for me.

2. தாயின் பால்மறந்த குழந்தையைப்போல நான் என் ஆத்துமாவை அடக்கி அமரப்பண்ணினேன்; என் ஆத்துமா பால்மறந்த குழந்தையைப்போல் இருக்கிறது.

2. [I shall have sinned] if I have not been humble, but have exalted my soul; according to [the relation of] a weaned child to his mother, so will You recompense my soul.

3. இதுமுதல் என்றென்றைக்கும் இஸ்ரவேல் கர்த்தரை நம்பியிருப்பதாக.

3. Let Israel hope in the Lord, from this time forth and forever.
