1. கர்த்தரைத் துதியுங்கள்; அவர் நல்லவர், அவர் கிருபை என்றுமுள்ளது.

1. Alleluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.

2. கர்த்தரால் சத்துருவின் கைக்கு நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்கப்பட்டு,

2. So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,

3. கிழக்கிலும் மேற்கிலும் வடக்கிலும் தெற்கிலுமுள்ள பல தேசங்களிலுமிருந்து சேர்க்கப்பட்டவர்கள், அப்படிச் சொல்லக்கடவர்கள்.

3. bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.

4. அவர்கள் தாபரிக்கும் ஊரைக்காணாமல், வனாந்தரத்திலே அவாந்தரவழியாய்,

5. பசியாகவும், தாகமாகவும், ஆத்துமா தொய்ந்ததாகவும் அலைந்து திரிந்தார்கள்.

6. தங்கள் ஆபத்திலே கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள், அவர்கள் இக்கட்டுகளிலிருந்து அவர்களை விடுவித்தார்.

6. They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,

7. தாபரிக்கும் ஊருக்குப்போய்ச்சேர, அவர்களைச் செவ்வையான வழியிலே நடத்தினார்.

7. he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.

8. தவனமுள்ள ஆத்துமாவைக் கர்த்தர் திருப்தியாக்கி, பசியுள்ள ஆத்துமாவை நன்மையினால் நிரப்புகிறாரென்று,

9. அவருடைய கிருபையினிமித்தமும், மனுபுத்திரருக்கு அவர் செய்கிற அதிசயங்களினிமித்தமும் அவரைத் துதிப்பார்களாக.

10. தேவனுடைய வார்த்தைகளுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணி, உன்னதமானவருடைய ஆலோசனையை அசட்டைபண்ணினவர்கள்,

10. Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,

11. அந்தகாரத்திலும் மரண இருளிலும் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்து, ஒடுக்கத்திலும் இரும்பிலும் கட்டுண்டு கிடந்தார்கள்.

11. for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-

12. அவர்களுடைய இருதயத்தை அவர் வருத்தத்தால் தாழ்த்தினார்; சகாயரில்லாமல் விழுந்து போனார்கள்.

12. he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fell there was no one to help.

13. தங்கள் ஆபத்திலே கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் இக்கட்டுகளிலிருந்து அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்தார்.

13. They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,

14. அந்தகாரத்திலும் மரணஇருளிலுமிருந்து அவர்களை வெளிப்படப்பண்ணி, அவர்கள் கட்டுகளை அறுத்தார்.

14. he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.

15. கர்த்தர் வெண்கலக் கதவுகளை உடைத்து, இருப்புத் தாழ்ப்பாள்களை முறித்தாரென்று,

15. Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!

16. அவருடைய கிருபையினிமித்தமும், மனுபுத்திரருக்கு அவர் செய்கிற அதிசயங்களினிமித்தமும் அவரைத் துதிப்பார்களாக.

16. He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.

17. நிர்மூடர் தங்கள் பாதகமார்க்கத்தாலும் தங்கள் அக்கிரமங்களாலும் நோய்கொண்டு ஒடுங்கிப்போகிறார்கள்.

17. Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,

18. அவர்கள் ஆத்துமா சகல போஜனத்தையும் அரோசிக்கிறது, அவர்கள் மரணவாசல்கள் பரியந்தம் சமீபிக்கிறார்கள்.

18. finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-

19. தங்கள் ஆபத்திலே கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் இக்கட்டுகளுக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சிக்கிறார்.

20. he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.

21. அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை அவருடைய கிருபையினிமித்தமும், மனுபுத்திரருக்கு அவர் செய்கிற அதிசயங்களினிமித்தமும் துதித்து,

21. Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!

22. ஸ்தோத்திரபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி, அவருடைய கிரியைகளை ஆனந்த சத்தத்தோடே விவரிப்பார்களாக.

22. Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!

23. கப்பலேறி, கடல்யாத்திரைபண்ணி, திரளான தண்ணீர்களிலே தொழில் செய்கிறார்களே,

23. Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,

24. அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய கிரியைகளையும், ஆழத்திலே அவருடைய அதிசயங்களையும் காண்கிறார்கள்.

24. have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.

25. அவர் கட்டளையிட பெருங்காற்று எழும்பி, அதின் அலைகளைக் கொந்தளிக்கப்பண்ணும்.

25. By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.

26. அவர்கள் ஆகாயத்தில் ஏறி, ஆழங்களில் இறங்குகிறார்கள், அவர்கள் ஆத்துமா கிலேசத்தினால் கரைந்துபோகிறது.

26. Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;

27. வெறித்தவனைப்போல் அலைந்து தடுமாறுகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய ஞானமெல்லாம் முழுகிப்போகிறது.

27. they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and all their skill went under.

28. அப்பொழுது தங்கள் ஆபத்திலே அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறார்கள், அவர்கள் இக்கட்டுகளுக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி விடுவிக்கிறார்.

29. கொந்தளிப்பை அமர்த்துகிறார், அதின் அலைகள் அடங்குகின்றது.

29. he reduced the storm to a calm, and all the waters subsided,

30. அமைதலுண்டானதினிமித்தம் அவர்கள் சந்தோஷப்படுகிறார்கள்; தாங்கள் நாடின துறைமுகத்தில் அவர்களைக் கொண்டுவந்து சேர்க்கிறார்.

30. and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.

31. அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை அவருடைய கிருபையினிமித்தமும், மனுபுத்திரருக்கு அவர் செய்கிற அதியசயங்களினிமித்தமும் துதித்து,

31. Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!

32. ஜனங்களின் சபையிலே அவரை உயர்த்தி, மூப்பர்களின் சங்கத்திலே அவரைப் போற்றுவார்களாக.

32. Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.

33. அவர் ஆறுகளை அவாந்தரவெளியாகவும், நீரூற்றுகளை வறண்ட ஸ்தலமாகவும்,

33. He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,

34. குடிகளுடைய பொல்லாப்பினிமித்தம் செழிப்பான தேசத்தை உவர் நிலமாகவும் மாற்றுகிறார்.

34. fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.

35. அவர் அவாந்தரவெளியைத் தண்ணீர்த்தடாகமாகவும், வறண்ட நிலத்தை நீரூற்றுகளாகவும் மாற்றி,

35. But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,

36. பசித்தவர்களை அங்கே குடியேற்றுகிறார்; அங்கே அவர்கள் குடியிருக்கும் நகரத்தைக் கட்டி,

36. and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.

37. வயல்களை உண்டாக்கி விதைத்து, திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களை நாட்டுகிறார்கள், அவைகள் வரத்துள்ள பலனைத் தரும்.

37. There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.

38. அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார், மிகுதியும் பெருகுகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய மிருகஜீவன்கள் குறையாதிருக்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

38. He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.

39. பின்பு அவர்கள் இடுக்கத்தினாலும், ஆபத்தினாலும், துயரத்தினாலும் குறைவுபட்டுத் தாழ்வடைகிறார்கள்.

39. Their numbers had fallen, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;

40. அவர் பிரபுக்களின்மேல் இகழ்ச்சிவரப்பண்ணி, வழியில்லாத அவாந்தர வெளியிலே அவர்களைத் திரியச்செய்து,

40. he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.

41. எளியவனையோ சிறுமையினின்று எடுத்து, உயர்ந்த அடைக்கலத்திலே வைத்து, அவன் வம்சங்களை மந்தையைப்போலாக்குகிறார்.

41. But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.

42. உத்தமர்கள் அதைக்கண்டு மகிழுவார்கள்; நியாயக்கேடெல்லாம் தன் வாயை மூடும்.

42. At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.

43. எவன் ஞானமுள்ளவனோ அவன் இவைகளைக் கவனிக்கக்கடவன்; ஞானவான்கள் கர்த்தருடைய கிருபைகளை உணர்ந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

43. Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.
