1. இப்போதோ என்னிலும் இளவயதானவர்கள் என்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; இவர்களுடைய பிதாக்களை நான் என் மந்தையைக் காக்கும் நாய்களோடே வைக்கவுங்கூட வெட்கப்பட்டிருப்பேன்.

1. Bvt now they that are my inferiours & yonger then I, haue me in derision: yee eue they, whose fathers I wolde haue thought scorne to haue set wt the dogges of my catell.

2. விருத்தாப்பியத்தினாலே பெலனற்றுப்போன அவர்கள் கைகளினால் எனக்கு என்ன உதவியிருந்தது.

2. The power & stregth of their hades might do me no good, & as for their age, it is spet & past awaye without eny profit.

3. குறைச்சலினாலும் பசியினாலும் அவர்கள் வாடி, வெகுநாளாய்ப் பாழும் வெறுமையுமான அந்தரவெளிக்கு ஓடிப்போய்,

3. For very misery & honger, they wente aboute in the wildernesse like wretches & beggers,

4. செடிகளுக்குள் இருக்கிற தழைகளைப் பிடுங்குவார்கள்; காட்டுப்பூண்டுகளின் கிழங்குகள் அவர்களுக்கு ஆகாரமாயிருந்தது.

4. pluckynge vp herbes from amonge the bu?shes, & the Iunipers rote was their meate.

5. அவர்கள் மனுஷரின் நடுவிலிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டார்கள்; கள்ளனைத் துரத்துகிறதுபோல்: கள்ளன் கள்ளன் என்று அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்.

5. And when they were dryuen forth, men cried after them, as it had bene after a thefe.

6. அவர்கள் பள்ளத்தாக்குகளின் வெடிப்புகளிலும், பூமியின் கெபிகளிலும், கன்மலைகளிலும் போய் குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

6. Their dwellinge was beside foule brokes, yee in the caues & dennes of the earth.

7. செடிகளுக்குள்ளிருந்து கதறி, காஞ்சொறிகளின்கீழ் ஒதுங்கினார்கள்.

7. Vpo the drye heeth wete they aboute crienge, & in the brome hilles they gathered them together.

8. அவர்கள் மூடரின் மக்களும், நீசரின் பிள்ளைகளும், தேசத்திலிருந்து துரத்துண்டவர்களுமாய் இருந்தார்கள்.

8. They were the children of fooles & vylanes, which are deed awaye fro the worlde.

9. ஆனாலும் இப்போது நான் அவர்களுக்குப் பாட்டும் பழமொழியும் ஆனேன்.

9. Now am I their songe, & am become their iestinge stocke.

10. என்னை அருவருத்து, எனக்குத்தூரமாகி, என் முகத்துக்கு முன்பாகத் துப்பக் கூசாதிருக்கிறார்கள்.

10. they abhorre me, they fle farre fro me & stayne my face wt spetle.

11. நான் கட்டின கட்டை அவர் அவிழ்த்து, என்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தினபடியினால், அவர்களும் கடிவாளத்தை என் முகத்துக்கு முன்பாக உதறிவிட்டார்கள்.

11. For ye LORDE hath opened his quyuer, he hath hytt me, & put a brydle in my mouth.

12. வலதுபாரிசத்தில் வாலிபர் எழும்பி, என் கால்களைத் தவறிவிழப்பண்ணி, தங்கள் கேடான வழிகளை எனக்கு நேராக ஆயத்தப்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.

12. Vpon my right hade they rose together agaynst me, they haue hurte my fete, made awaye to destroye me,

13. என் பாதையைக் கெடுத்து, என் ஆபத்தை வர்த்திக்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; அதற்கு அவர்களுக்கு ஒத்தாசைபண்ணுகிறவர்கள் தேவையில்லை.

13. & my path haue they clene marred. It was so easy for them to do me harme, that they neded no man to helpe the.

14. பெரிதான திறப்புண்டாக்கி, தாங்கள் கெடுத்த வழியில் புரண்டு வருகிறார்கள்.

14. They fell vpon me, as it had bene ye breakynge in of waters, & came in by heapes to destroye me.

15. பயங்கரங்கள் என்மேல் திரும்பி வருகிறது, அவைகள் காற்றைப்போல என் ஆத்துமாவைப் பின்தொடருகிறது; என் சுகவாழ்வு ஒரு மேகத்தைப்போல் கடந்துபோயிற்று.

15. Fearfulnesse is turned agaynst me. Myne honoure vanisheth awaye more swiftly then wynde, & my prosperite departeth hece like as it were a cloude.

16. ஆகையால் இப்போது என் ஆத்துமா என்னில் முறிந்துபோயிற்று; உபத்திரவத்தின் நாட்கள் என்னைப்பிடித்துக்கொண்டது.

16. Therfore is my mynde poured full of heuynesse, & ye dayes of trouble haue take holde vpon me.

17. இராக்காலத்திலே என் எலும்புகள் துளைக்கப்பட்டு, என் நரம்புகளுக்கு இளைப்பாறுதல் இல்லாதிருக்கிறது.

17. My bones are pearsed thorow in ye night season, & my synewes take no rest.

18. நோயின் உக்கிரத்தினால் என் உடுப்பு வேறுபட்டுப்போயிற்று; அது என் அங்கியின் கழுத்துப்பட்டையைப்போல, என்னைச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டது.

18. With all their power haue they chaunged my garmet, & gyrded me therwith, as it were wt a coate.

19. சேற்றிலே தள்ளப்பட்டேன்; தூளுக்கும் சாம்பலுக்கும் ஒப்பானேன்.

19. I am eue as it were claye, & am become like asshes & dust.

20. உம்மை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறேன்; நீர் எனக்கு மறுஉத்தரவு கொடாதிருக்கிறீர்; கெஞ்சி நிற்கிறேன், என்மேல் பராமுகமாயிருக்கிறீர்.

20. Whe I crie vnto the, thou doest not heare me: & though I stonde before the, yet thou regardest me not.

21. என்மேல் கொடூரமுள்ளவராக மாறினீர்; உம்முடைய கரத்தின் வல்லமையால் என்னை விரோதிக்கிறீர்.

21. Thou art become myne enemye, & wt yi violet hade thou takest parte agaynst me.

22. நீர் என்னைத் தூக்கி, என்னைக் காற்றிலே பறக்கவிட்டு, என்னைப் பயத்தினால் உருகிப்போகப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.

22. In tymes past thou didest set me vp an hye, as it were aboue ye winde, but now hast thou geue me a very sore fall.

23. சகல ஜீவாத்துமாக்களுக்கும் குறிக்கப்பட்ட தாவரமாகிய மரணத்துக்கு என்னை ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பீர் என்று அறிவேன்.

23. Sure I am, yt thou wilt delyuer me vnto death: where as a lodgyng is prepared for all me

24. ஆனாலும் நான் யாதொருவனை அவன் ஆபத்திலே தவிக்கப்பண்ணினதும்,

24. Now vse not me to do violece vnto the, yt are destroyed allready: but where hurte is done, there vse thei to helpe.

25. துன்னாளைக் கண்டவனுக்காக நான் அழாதிருந்ததும், எளியவனுக்காக என் ஆத்துமா வியாகுலப்படாதிருந்ததும் உண்டானால், அவர் என் மனுவுக்கு இடங்கொடாமல், எனக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தமது கையை நீட்டுவாராக.

25. Dyd not I wepe in ye tyme of trouble? Had not my soule copassion vpo ye poore?

26. நன்மைக்குக் காத்திருந்த எனக்குத் தீமை வந்தது; வெளிச்சத்தை வரப்பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்த எனக்கு இருள் வந்தது.

26. Yet neuerthelesse where as I loked for good, euell happened vnto me: and where as I waited for light, there came darcknesse.

27. என் குடல்கள் கொதித்து, அமராதிருக்கிறது; உபத்திரவநாட்கள் என்மேல் வந்தது.

27. My bowels seeth wt in me & take no rest, for ye dayes of my trouble are come vpo me.

28. வெயில் படாதிருந்தும், நான் கறுகறுத்துத் திரிகிறேன்; நான் சபையிலிருந்து எழுந்திருக்கும்போது அலறுகிறேன்.

28. Mekely & lowly came I in, yee & without eny displeasure: I stode vp in ye cogregacion, & commoned with the

29. நான் மலைப்பாம்புகளுக்குச் சகோதரனும், கோட்டான்களுக்குத் தோழனுமானேன்.

29. But now. I am a copanyon of dragons, & a felowe of Esiriches.

30. என் தோல் என்மேல் கறுத்துப்போயிற்று; என் எலும்புகள் உஷ்ணத்தினால் காய்ந்துபோயிற்று.

30. My skynne vpo me is turned to black, & my bones are bret wt heate:

31. என் சுரமண்டலம் புலம்பலாகவும், என் கின்னரம் அழுகிறவர்களின் ஓலமாகவும் மாறின.

31. my harpe is turned to sorow, & my pipe to wepinge.
