1. நடந்த யாவற்றையும் மொர்தெகாய் அறிந்தபோது, மொர்தெகாய் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்து, இரட்டுடுத்தி, சாம்பல் போட்டுக்கொண்டு, நகரத்தின் நடுவே புறப்பட்டுப்போய், துயரமுள்ள மகா சத்தத்துடனே அலறிக்கொண்டு,

1. Now when Mordecai saw what was done, pulling off his robe, he put on haircloth, with dust on his head, and went out into the middle of the town, crying out with a loud and bitter cry.

2. ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசல் முகப்புமட்டும் வந்தான்; இரட்டுடுத்தினவனாய் ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்க ஒருவனுக்கும் உத்தரவில்லை.

2. And he came even before the king's doorway; for no one might come inside the king's door clothed in haircloth.

3. ராஜாவின் உத்தரவும் அவனுடைய கட்டளையும் போய்ச் சேர்ந்த ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டிலும் ஸ்தலத்திலுமுள்ள யூதருக்குள்ளே மகா துக்கமும், உபவாசமும், அழுகையும், புலம்பலும் உண்டாகி, அநேகர் இரட்டுடுத்திச் சாம்பலில் கிடந்தார்கள்.

3. And in every part of the kingdom, wherever the king's word and his order came, there was great sorrow among the Jews, and weeping and crying and going without food; and numbers of them were stretched on the earth covered with dust and haircloth.

4. அப்பொழுது எஸ்தரின் தாதிமார்களும், அவளுடைய பிரதானிகளும் போய், அதை அவளுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்; அதினாலே ராஜாத்தி மிகவும் துக்கப்பட்டு, மொர்தெகாய் உடுத்திருந்த இரட்டை எடுத்துப்போட்டு, அவனை உடுத்துவிக்கிறதற்கு வஸ்திரங்களை அனுப்பினாள்; அவனோ அவைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதிருந்தான்.

4. And Esther's women and her servants came and gave her word of it. Then great was the grief of the queen: and she sent robes for Mordecai, so that his clothing of haircloth might be taken off; but he would not have them.

5. அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் தன் பணிவிடைக்கென்று ராஜாவினால் நியமித்திருந்த அவனுடைய பிரதானிகளில் ஒருவனாகிய ஆத்தாகை அழைப்பித்து: காரியம் என்ன? அதின் முகாந்தரம் என்ன? என்று அறியும்படி, மொர்தெகாயினிடத்தில் விசாரிக்க அவனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டாள்.

5. Then Esther sent for Hathach, one of the king's unsexed servants whom he had given her for waiting on her, and she gave him orders to go to Mordecai and see what this was and why it was.

6. அப்படியே ஆத்தாகு ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலுக்கு முன்னான பட்டண வீதியிலிருக்கிற மொர்தெகாயினிடத்தில் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

6. So Hathach went out and saw Mordecai in the open square of the town before the king's doorway.

7. அப்பொழுது மொர்தெகாய் தனக்குச் சம்பவித்த எல்லாவற்றைப்பற்றியும், யூதரை அழிக்கும்படி ஆமான் ராஜாவின் கஜானாவுக்கு எண்ணிக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று சொன்ன பணத்தொகையைப் பற்றியும் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்ததும் அன்றி,

7. And Mordecai gave him an account of what had taken place, and of the amount of money which Haman had said he would put into the king's store for the destruction of the Jews.

8. யூதர்களை அழிக்கும்படி சூசானில் பிறந்த கட்டளையின் நகலையும் அவனிடத்தில் கொடுத்து, அதை எஸ்தருக்குக் காண்பித்துத் தெரியப்படுத்தவும், அவள் அகத்தியமாய் ராஜாவினிடத்திற் போய், அவனிடத்தில் தன் ஜனங்களுக்காக விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணவும் மன்றாடவும் வேண்டுமென்று அவளுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

8. And he gave him the copy of the order which had been given out in Shushan for their destruction, ordering him to let Esther see it, and to make it clear to her; and to say to her that she was to go in to the king, requesting his mercy, and making prayer for her people.

9. ஆத்தாகு வந்து, மொர்தெகாயின் வார்த்தைகளை எஸ்தருக்கு அறிவித்தான்.

9. And Hathach came back and gave Esther an account of what Mordecai had said.

10. அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் ஆத்தாகினிடத்தில் மொர்தெகாய்க்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினது:

10. Then Esther sent Hathach to say to Mordecai:

11. யாராவது அழைப்பிக்கப்படாமல், உள்முற்றத்தில் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசித்தால், புருஷரானாலும் ஸ்திரீயானாலும் சரி, அவர்கள் பிழைக்கும்படிக்கு அவர்களுக்கு ராஜா பொற்செங்கோலை நீட்டினாலொழிய மற்றப்படி சாகவேண்டும் என்கிற ஒரு தவறாத சட்டமுண்டு, இது ராஜாவின் சகல ஊழியக்காரருக்கும், ராஜாவினுடைய நாடுகளிலுள்ள சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் தெரியும்; நான் இந்த முப்பது நாளளவும் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வரவழைப்பிக்கப்படவில்லை என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

11. It is common knowledge among all the king's servants and the people of every part of the kingdom, that if anyone, man or woman, comes to the king in his inner room without being sent for, there is only one law for him, that he is to be put to death; only those to whom the king's rod of gold is stretched out may keep their lives: but I have not been sent for to come before the king these thirty days.

12. எஸ்தரின் வார்த்தைகளை மொர்தெகாய்க்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள்.

12. And they said these words to Mordecai.

13. மொர்தெகாய் எஸ்தருக்குத் திரும்பச் சொல்லச்சொன்னது: நீ ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலிருக்கிறதினால், மற்ற யூதர் தப்பக்கூடாதிருக்க, நீ தப்புவாயென்று உன் மனதிலே நினைவுகொள்ளாதே.

13. Then Mordecai sent this answer back to Esther: Do not have the idea that you in the king's house will be safe from the fate of all the Jews.

14. நீ இந்தக் காலத்திலே மவுனமாயிருந்தால், யூதருக்குச் சகாயமும் இரட்சிப்பும் வேறொரு இடத்திலிருந்து எழும்பும், அப்பொழுது நீயும் உன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தாரும் அழிவீர்கள்; நீ இப்படிப்பட்ட காலத்துக்கு உதவியாயிருக்கும்படி உனக்கு ராஜமேன்மை கிடைத்திருக்கலாமே, யாருக்குத் தெரியும், என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

14. If at this time you say nothing, then help and salvation will come to the Jews from some other place, but you and your father's family will come to destruction: and who is to say that you have not come to the kingdom even for such a time as this?

15. அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாய்க்கு மறுபடியும் சொல்லச்சொன்னது:

15. Then Esther sent them back to Mordecai with this answer:

16. நீர் போய், சூசானில் இருக்கிற யூதரையெல்லாம் கூடிவரச்செய்து, மூன்று நாள் அல்லும் பகலும் புசியாமலும் குடியாமலுமிருந்து, எனக்காக உபவாசம்பண்ணுங்கள்; நானும் என் தாதிமாரும் உபவாசம் பண்ணுவோம்; இவ்விதமாக சட்டத்தை மீறி, ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பேன்; நான் செத்தாலும் சாகிறேன் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

16. Go, get together all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and go without food for me, taking no food or drink night or day for three days: and I and my women will do the same; and so I will go in to the king, which is against the law: and if death is to be my fate, then let it come.

17. அப்பொழுது மொர்தெகாய் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், எஸ்தர் தனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியெல்லாம் செய்தான்.

17. So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had said.
