1. அப்பொழுது ராஜா யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் இருந்த மூப்பரையெல்லாம் அழைப்பித்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனிடத்தில் கூடினபோது,

1. Then the king summoned all the leaders of Y'hudah and Yerushalayim, and they assembled with him.

2. ராஜாவும், அவனோடு யூதாவின் மனுஷர் யாவரும் எருசலேமின் குடிகள் அனைவரும், ஆசாரியர்களும், தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும், சிறியோர் துவக்கிப் பெரியோர் மட்டுமுள்ள சகலரும் கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்துக்குப் போனார்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட உடன்படிக்கை புஸ்தகத்தின் வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் காதுகள் கேட்க வாசித்தான்.

2. The king went up to the house of ADONAI with all the men of Y'hudah, all those living in Yerushalayim, the [cohanim], the prophets and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing everything written in the scroll of the covenant that had been found in the house of ADONAI.

3. அப்பொழுது ராஜா, தூண் அருகே நின்று, கர்த்தரைப் பின்பற்றி நடக்கவும், அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும் அவருடைய சாட்சிகளையும் அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் கைக்கொள்ளவும், அந்தப் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற அந்த உடன்படிக்கையின் வார்த்தைகளை நிறைவேற்றவும் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணினான்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் உடன்படிக்கைக்கு உட்பட்டார்கள்.

3. The king stood on the platform and made a covenant in the presence of ADONAI to live following ADONAI, observing his [mitzvot], instructions and regulations wholeheartedly and with all his being, so as to confirm the words of the covenant written in this scroll. All the people stood, pledging themselves to keep the covenant.

4. பின்பு ராஜா: பாகாலுக்கும் விக்கிரகத்தோப்புக்கும் வானத்தின் சகல சேனைகளுக்கும் பண்ணப்பட்டிருந்த சகல பணிமுட்டுகளையும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலிருந்து புறம்பாக்க, பிரதான ஆசாரியனாகிய இல்க்கியாவுக்கும் இரண்டாம் வகுப்பிலுள்ள ஆசாரியர்களுக்கும் வாசல் காக்கிறவர்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டு, அவைகளை எருசலேமுக்குப் புறம்பாய்க் கீதரோன் வெளிகளில் சுட்டெரித்து, அவைகளின் சாம்பலைப் பெத்தேலுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பண்ணினான்.

4. Then the king ordered Hilkiyahu the [cohen hagadol], the [cohanim] of the second rank and the doorkeepers to remove from the sanctuary of ADONAI all the articles that had been made for Ba'al, for the [asherah] and for the entire army of heaven; and he burned them up outside Yerushalayim in the fields of Kidron and carried their ashes to Beit-El.

5. யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களிலும் எருசலேமைச் சுற்றிலும் மேடைகளின்மேல் தூபங்காட்ட, யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் வைத்த பூஜாசாரிகளையும், பாகாலுக்கும் சூரியனுக்கும் சந்திரனுக்கும் கிரகங்களுக்கும் வானத்தின் சகல சேனைகளுக்கும் தூபங்காட்டினவர்களையும் அகற்றிவிட்டான்.

5. He deposed the idolatrous priests the kings of Y'hudah had ordained to offer on the high places by the cities of Y'hudah and in the places surrounding Yerushalayim; he also deposed those who offered to Ba'al, the sun, the moon, the constellations and the whole army of heaven.

6. தோப்பு விக்கிரகத்தை கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திலிருந்து எருசலேமுக்குப் புறம்பே கீதரோன் ஆற்றிற்குக் கொண்டுபோய், அதைக் கீதரோன் ஆற்று ஓரத்திலே சுட்டெரித்து, அதைத் தூளாக்கி, அந்தத் தூளை ஜனபுத்திரருடைய பிரேதக் குழிகளின்மேல் போடுவித்தான்.

6. He took the [asherah] from the house of ADONAI to [Vadi] Kidron outside Yerushalayim and burned it in [Vadi] Kidron, stamped the ashes to powder and threw the powder onto the burial-ground for the common people.

7. கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திற்கு அருகே ஸ்திரீகள் தோப்பு விக்கிரகத்துக்குக் கூடாரங்களை நெய்த இடத்திலுள்ள இலச்சையான புணர்ச்சிக்காரரின் வீடுகளை இடித்துப்போட்டான்.

7. He smashed the houses of the cult prostitutes that were in the house of ADONAI, where the women also wove garments for the [asherah].

8. அவன் யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களிலுள்ள எல்லா ஆசாரியரையும் வரச்சொல்லி, கேபாமுதல் பெயெர்செபாமட்டும் ஆசாரியர்கள் தூபங்காட்டியிருந்த மேடைகளைத் தீட்டாக்கி, ஒலிமுகவாசல்களின் மேடைகளையும், பட்டணத்து வாசலுக்குப்போகும் வழிக்கு இடதுபுறமாயிருக்கிற பட்டணத்தலைவனாகிய யோசுவாவின் வாசற்படியில் இருந்த மேடையையும் இடித்துப்போட்டான்.

8. He removed the [cohanim] from the cities of Y'hudah; then, from Geva to Be'er-Sheva, he desecrated the high places where the [cohanim] had been making offerings. He also smashed the High Places of the Gates that were at the entrance of the Gate of Y'hoshua the governor of the city, on the left as one enters the city.

9. மேடைகளின் ஆசாரியர்கள் எருசலேமிலிருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் பலியிடாமல், தங்கள் சகோதரருக்குள்ளே புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பங்களைப் புசிக்கிறதற்குமாத்திரம் உத்தாரம்பெற்றார்கள்.

9. But although the [cohanim] who had been at the high places did not come up to the altar of ADONAI in Yerushalayim, nevertheless they did share [matzah] with their kinsmen.

10. ஒருவனும் மோளேகுக்கென்று தன் குமாரனையாகிலும் தன் குமாரத்தியையாகிலும் தீக்கடக்கப்பண்ணாதபடிக்கு, இன்னோம் புத்திரரின் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலிருக்கிற தோப்பேத் என்னும் ஸ்தலத்தையும் அவன் தீட்டாக்கி,

10. He desecrated the Tofet fire pit in the Ben-Hinnom Valley, so that no one could cause his son or daughter to pass through fire [[as a sacrifice]] to Molekh.

11. கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திற்குள் போகிற இடந்தொடங்கி, பட்டணத்துக்குப் புறம்பே இருக்கிற நாத்தான்மெலெக் என்னும் பிரதானியின் அறைவீடுமட்டும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் சூரியனுக்கென்று வைத்திருந்த குதிரைகளை அகற்றி, சூரியனின் இரதங்களை அக்கினியில் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

11. He confiscated the horses which the kings of Y'hudah had given to the sun, at the entrance to the house of ADONAI near the room of the officer N'tan-Melekh, in the side-courtyard; and he burned up the chariots of the sun.

12. யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் உண்டாக்கினதும், ஆகாசுடைய மேல்வீட்டில் இருந்ததுமான பலிபீடங்களையும், மனாசே கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் இரண்டு பிராகாரங்களிலும் உண்டாக்கின பலிபீடங்களையும் ராஜா இடித்து, அவைகளின் தூளை அங்கேயிருந்து எடுத்துக் கீதரோன் ஆற்றில் கொட்டினான்.

12. The king smashed the altars on the roof of the upper room of Achaz, which the kings of Y'hudah had made, and the altars which M'nasheh had made in the two courtyards of the house of ADONAI. He broke them into pieces and threw the rubble into [Vadi] Kidron.

13. எருசலேமுக்கு எதிரே இருக்கிற நாசமலையின் வலதுபுறத்தில் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் சீதோனியரின் அருவருப்பாகிய அஸ்தரோத்திற்கும், மோவாபியரின் அருவருப்பாகிய காமோசுக்கும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் அருவருப்பாகிய மில்கோமுக்கும் கட்டியிருந்த மேடைகளையும் ராஜா தீட்டாக்கி,

13. The king desecrated the high places facing Yerushalayim south of the Mount of Destruction, which Shlomo the king of Isra'el had built for 'Ashtoret the abomination of the Tzidonim, K'mosh the abomination of Mo'av and Milkom the abomination of the people of 'Amon.

14. சிலைகளை உடைத்து, விக்கிரகத்தோப்புகளை நிர்மூலமாக்கி, அவைகளின் ஸ்தலத்தை மனுஷரின் எலும்புகளால் நிரப்பினான்.

14. He smashed the standing-stones, chopped down the sacred poles and covered their remains with human bones.

15. இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாம் பெத்தேலில் உண்டாக்கியிருந்த பலிபீடமும் மேடையும் ஆகிய அவ்விரண்டையும் அவன் இடித்து, அந்த மேடையைச் சுட்டெரித்துத் தூளாக்கி, விக்கிரகத்தோப்பையும் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

15. He smashed the altar that was at Beit-El and the high place made by Yarov'am the son of N'vat, who caused Isra'el to sin. Yes, he smashed that altar and the high place; he burned the high place, stamped the ashes to powder, and burned up the [asherah].

16. யோசியா திரும்பிப்பார்க்கிறபோது அங்கே அந்த மலையிலிருக்கிற கல்லறைகளைக் கண்டு, ஆட்களை அனுப்பி, அந்தக் கல்லறைகளிலுள்ள எலும்புகளை எடுத்து வரச்செய்து, இப்படி நடக்கும் என்று தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் கூறின கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே, அவைகளை அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சுட்டெரித்து அதைத் தீட்டாக்கினான்.

16. Then, as Yoshiyahu was turning around, he noticed the burial caves that were there on the mountain; so he sent and had the bones taken out of the burial caves and burned them on the altar, thus desecrating it, in keeping with the word of ADONAI which the man of God had proclaimed, foretelling that these things would happen.

17. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் காண்கிற அந்தக் குறிப்படையாளம் என்ன என்று கேட்டதற்கு, அந்தப் பட்டணத்து மனுஷர்: அது யூதாவிலிருந்து வந்து, நீர் செய்த இந்தக் கிரியைகளைப் பெத்தேலின் பலிபீடத்திற்கு விரோதமாய்க் கூறி, அறிவித்த தேவனுடைய மனுஷனின் கல்லறை என்றார்கள்.

17. Then he asked, 'This monument here that I'm looking at, what is it?' The men of the city told him, 'It marks the burial cave of the man of God who came from Y'hudah and foretold the very things you have done to the altar of Beit-El.'

18. அதற்கு அவன்: இருக்கட்டும், ஒருவனும் அவன் எலும்புகளைத் தொடவேண்டாம் என்றான்; அப்படியே அவன் எலும்புகளைச் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து வந்த தீர்க்கதரிசியின் எலும்புகளோடு விட்டுவிட்டார்கள்.

18. He replied, 'Let him be; no one is to move his bones.' So they left his bones undisturbed, along with the bones of the prophet who had come from Shomron.

19. கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்க இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்கள் சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களில் உண்டாக்கியிருந்த மேடைகளின் கோவில்களையெல்லாம் யோசியா தகர்த்து, பெத்தேலிலே தான் செய்த செய்கைகளின்படியே அவைகளுக்குச் செய்து,

19. Yoshiyahu also removed all the shrines of the high places in the cities of Shomron, which the kings of Isra'el had made in order to provoke [[ADONAI]] to anger, and treated them the same as in Beit-El.

20. அவ்விடங்களில் இருக்கிற மேடைகளின் ஆசாரியர்களையெல்லாம் பலிபீடங்களின்மேல் கொன்றுபோட்டு, அவைகளின்மேல் மனுஷரின் எலும்புகளைச் சுட்டெரித்து, எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பினான்.

20. He put to death all the priests of those high places on the altars there, then burned human bones on them. Finally he returned to Yerushalayim.

21. பின்பு ராஜா: இந்த உடன்படிக்கையின் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பஸ்காவை ஆசரியுங்கள் என்று சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டான்.

21. The king issued this order to all the people: 'Observe [Pesach] to ADONAI your God, as written in this scroll of the covenant.'

22. இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்த நியாயாதிபதிகளின் நாட்கள் தொடங்கி, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்கள் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் ஆகிய அவர்களுடைய சகல நாட்களிலும் இந்தப் பஸ்காவைப்போல் பஸ்கா ஆசரிக்கப்படவில்லை.

22. For [Pesach] had not been so observed since the days when the judges ruled Isra'el- not during the times of any of the kings of Isra'el or of the kings of Y'hudah.

23. ராஜாவாகிய யோசியாவின் பதினெட்டாம் வருஷத்திலே கர்த்தருக்கு இந்தப் பஸ்கா எருசலேமிலே ஆசரிக்கப்பட்டது.

23. But in the eighteenth year of King Yoshiyahu this [Pesach] was observed to ADONAI in Yerushalayim.

24. ஆசாரியனாகிய இல்க்கியா கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் கண்டெடுத்த புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின் வார்த்தைகளை நிறைவேற்றும்படிக்கு, யோசியா அஞ்சனக்காரரையும், குறிசொல்லுகிறவர்களையும், சுரூபங்களையும் நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களையும், யூதாதேசத்திலும் எருசலேமிலும் காணப்பட்ட எல்லா அருவருப்புகளையும் நிர்மூலமாக்கினான்.

24. Yoshiyahu got rid of the mediums and the people using spirit guides, as well as the household gods, the idols and all the disgusting things spotted anywhere in Y'hudah and Yerushalayim. He did this in order to establish the words of the [Torah] written in the scroll Hilkiyahu the [cohen] had found in the house of ADONAI.

25. கர்த்தரிடத்துக்குத் தன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் தன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் தன் முழு பலத்தோடும் மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு ஏற்றபடியெல்லாம் செய்ய மனதைச் சாய்த்தான்; அவனைப் போலொத்த ராஜா அவனுக்குமுன் இருந்ததுமில்லை, அவனுக்குப்பின் எழும்பினதுமில்லை.

25. No previous king was like him; because he turned to ADONAI with all his heart, with all his being and with all his power, in accordance with all the [Torah] of Moshe; nor did any king like him arise afterwards.

26. ஆகிலும், மனாசே கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்கின சகல காரியங்களினிமித்தமும் அவர் யூதாவின்மேல் கொண்ட தம்முடைய மகா கோபத்தின் உக்கிரத்தை விட்டுத் திரும்பாமல்:

26. Nevertheless, ADONAI did not turn away from his fiercely raging, furious anger that burned against Y'hudah because of all the things M'nasheh had done to provoke him.

27. நான் இஸ்ரவேலைத் தள்ளிவிட்டது போல யூதாவையும் என் முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளி, நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட இந்த எருசலேம் நகரத்தையும், என் நாமம் விளங்கும் என்று நான் சொன்ன ஆலயத்தையும் வெறுத்துவிடுவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொன்னார்.

27. ADONAI said, 'Just as I removed Isra'el, I will also remove Y'hudah out of my sight; and I will reject this city, which I chose, Yerushalayim, and the house concerning which I said, 'My name will be there.''

28. யோசியாவின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

28. Other activities of Yoshiyahu and all his accomplishments are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Y'hudah.

29. அவன் நாட்களில் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோன்நேகோ அசீரியா ராஜாவுக்கு விரோதமாய் ஐபிராத்து நதிக்குப் போகிறபோது ராஜாவாகிய யோசியா அவனுக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்பட்டான்; பார்வோன்நேகோ அவனை மெகிதோவிலே கண்டபோது, அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

29. During his time Pharaoh N'khoh king of Egypt went up toward the Euphrates River to attack the king of Ashur. King Yoshiyahu went out to oppose him; but at Megiddo, Pharaoh spotted Yoshiyahu and killed him.

30. மரணமடைந்த அவனை அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் ரதத்தின்மேல் ஏற்றி, மெகிதோவிலிருந்து எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து, அவனை அவன் கல்லறையில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது தேசத்தின் ஜனங்கள் யோசியாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாகாசை அழைத்து, அவனை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணி, அவன் தகப்பன் ஸ்தானத்தில் அவனை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்.

30. His servants carried his dead body from Megiddo to Yerushalayim in a chariot and buried him in his own tomb. The people of the land took Y'ho'achaz the son of Yoshiyahu, anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.

31. யோவாகாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபத்துமூன்று வயதாயிருந்து, மூன்று மாதம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்; லிப்னா ஊரானாகிய எரேமியாவின் குமாரத்தியான அவன் தாயின் பேர் அமுத்தாள்.

31. Y'ho'achaz was twenty-three years old when he began his reign, and he ruled for three months in Yerushalayim. His mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Yirmeyahu from Livnah.

32. அவன் தன் பிதாக்கள் செய்தபடியெல்லாம் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்.

32. He did what was evil from ADONAI's perspective, following the example of everything his ancestors had done.

33. அவன் எருசலேமில் அரசாளாதபடிக்கு, பார்வோன்நேகோ அவனை ஆமாத் தேசமான ரிப்லாவிலே பிடித்துக் கட்டுவித்து, தேசத்தின்மேல் நூறு தாலந்து வெள்ளியையும் ஒரு தாலந்து பொன்னையும் அபராதமாகச் சுமத்தி,

33. Pharaoh N'khoh imprisoned him at Rivlah in the land of Hamat, so that he would not be able to rule in Yerushalayim. He also imposed a penalty on the land of three-and-a-quarter tons of silver and sixty-six pounds of gold.

34. யோசியாவின் குமாரனாகிய எலியாக்கீமை அவன் தகப்பனாகிய யோசியாவின் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவாக வைத்து, அவன் பேரை யோயாக்கீம் என்று மாற்றி, யோவாகாசைக் கொண்டுபோய் விட்டான்; இவன் எகிப்திலே போய் அங்கே மரணமடைந்தான்.

34. Then Pharaoh N'khoh made Elyakim the son of Yoshiyahu king in place of Yoshiyahu his father and changed his name to Y'hoyakim. He also carried Y'ho'achaz off to Egypt, where he died.

35. அந்த வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் யோயாக்கீம் பார்வோனுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; ஆனாலும் பார்வோனுடைய கட்டளையின்படி அந்தப் பணத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்படி அவன் தேசத்தை மதிப்பிட்டு, அவரவர் மதிப்பின்படி அந்த வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் பார்வோன்நேகோவுக்குக் கொடுக்கத்தக்கதாக தேசத்து ஜனங்களின் கையிலே தண்டினான்.

35. Y'hoyakim remitted the silver and gold to Pharaoh; but in order to pay the money Pharaoh demanded, he had to levy a tax on the land. He taxed the people of the land, each according to his means, to pay the silver and gold to Pharaoh N'khoh.

36. யோயாக்கீம் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபத்தைந்து வயதாயிருந்து, பதினொருவருஷம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்; ரூமா ஊரானாகிய பெதாயாமின் குமாரத்தியாகிய அவன் தாயின் பேர் செபுதாள்.

36. Y'hoyakim was twenty-five years old when he began his reign, and he ruled for eleven years in Yerushalayim. His mother's name was Z'vudah the daughter of P'dayah, from Rumah.

37. அவன் தன் பிதாக்கள் செய்தபடியெல்லாம் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்.

37. He did what was evil from the perspective of ADONAI, following the example of everything his ancestors had done.
