1. அப்னேர் எப்ரோனிலே செத்துப்போனதைச் சவுலின் குமாரன் கேட்டபோது, அவன் கைகள் திடனற்றுப்போயிற்று; இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் கலங்கினார்கள்.

1. And the son of Saul heard that Abner was dead in Hebron. And his hands were feeble; and all those in Israel were terrified.

2. சவுலின் குமாரனுக்குப் படைத்தலைவரான இரண்டுபேர் இருந்தார்கள்; ஒருவனுக்குப் பேர் பானா, மற்றவனுக்குப் பேர் ரேகாப்; அவர்கள் பென்யமீன் புத்திரரில் பேரோத்தியனாகிய ரிம்மோனின் குமாரர்கள். பேரோத்தும் பென்யமீனுக்கு அடுத்ததாய் எண்ணப்பட்டது.

2. And Saul's son had two men, troop commanders, one's name being Baanah, and the other's name Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin (for Beeroth also is counted to Benjamin.

3. பேரோத்தியர் கித்தாயீமுக்கு ஓடிப்போய், இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் அங்கே சஞ்சரிக்கிறார்கள்.

3. And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and are aliens there to this day.)

4. சவுலின் குமாரன் யோனத்தானுக்கு இரண்டு காலும் முடமான ஒரு குமாரன் இருந்தான்; சவுலும் யோனத்தானும் மடிந்த செய்தி யெஸ்ரயேலிலிருந்து வருகிறபோது, அவன் ஐந்து வயதுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய தாதி அவனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஓடிப்போனாள்; அவள் ஓடிப்போகிற அவசரத்தில் அவன் விழுந்து முடவனானான்: அவனுக்கு மேவிபோசேத் என்று பேர்.

4. And Jonathan the son of Saul had a lame son, he was a son of five years when the news of Saul and Jonathan came out of Jezreel; and his nurse lifted him up and fled; and it happened as she hurried to flee, that he fell and became lame; and his name was Mephibosheth.

5. பேரோத்தியனான அந்த ரிம்மோனின் குமாரராகிய ரேகாபும் பானாவும் போய், இஸ்போசேத் மத்தியானத்திலே வெய்யில் நேரத்தில் படுக்கையின்மேல் சயனித்திருக்கும்போது அவன் வீட்டிற்குள் பிரவேசித்து,

5. And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went and came at the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth. And he was lying on his bed at noon.

6. கோதுமை வாங்க வருகிறவர்கள்போல, நடுவீடுமட்டும் வந்து, அவனை வயிற்றிலே குத்திப்போட்டார்கள்; பின்பு ரேகாபும் அவன் சகோதரன் பானாவும் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

6. And they came to the middle of the house, bringing wheat. And they struck him in the belly. And Rechab and his brother Baanah escaped.

7. அவன் தன் பள்ளி அறையிலே தன் கட்டிலின்மேல் படுத்திருக்கும்போது இவர்கள் உள்ளே போய், அவனைக் குத்திக்கொன்று போட்டு, அவன் தலையை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்; பின்பு அவன் தலையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, இராமுழுதும் அந்தரவெளி வழியாய் நடந்து,

7. And they entered the house, and he was lying on his bed in his bedroom; and they struck him and killed him, and took off his head. And they took his head and went the way of the Arabah all the night.

8. எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் இஸ்போசேத்தின் தலையைக்கொண்டுவந்து, ராஜாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, உம்முடைய பிராணனை வாங்கத்தேடின உம்முடைய சத்துருவாயிருந்த சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்போசேத்தின் தலை; இன்றையதினம் கர்த்தர் ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்காகச் சவுலின் கையிலும் அவன் குடும்பத்தாரின் கையிலும் பழிவாங்கினார் என்றார்கள்.

8. And they brought Ishbosheth's head to David in Hebron, and said to the king, Behold, the head of Ishbosheth the son of your enemy Saul, who sought your life. And may Jehovah give to my lord the king vengeance this day, on Saul and on his seed.

9. ஆனாலும் தாவீது பேரோத்தியனான ரிம்மோனின் குமாரராகிய ரேகாபுக்கும், அவன் சகோதரன் பானாவுக்கும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என் ஆத்துமாவை எல்லா இக்கட்டுக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்ட கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு நான் சொல்லுகிறதைக் கேளுங்கள்.

9. And David answered Rechab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, As Jehovah lives, who has redeemed my life out of all distress,

10. இதோ, ஒருவன் எனக்கு நற்செய்தி கொண்டுவருகிறவன் என்று எண்ணி, சவுல் செத்துப்போனான் என்று எனக்கு அறிவித்து, தனக்கு வெகுமானம் கிடைக்கும் என்று நினைத்தபோது, அவனை நான் பிடித்து சிக்லாகிலே கொன்றுபோட்டேனே.

10. when one spoke to me, saying, Behold Saul is dead, and he was as a bearer of good news in his own eyes; even I seized and killed him in Ziklag. I gave that to him as a reward.

11. தமது வீட்டிற்குள் தமது படுக்கையின்மேல் படுத்திருந்த நீதிமானைக் கொலை செய்த பொல்லாத மனுஷருக்கு எவ்வளவு அதிகமாய் ஆக்கினை செய்யவேண்டும்? இப்போதும் நான் அவருடைய இரத்தப்பழியை உங்கள் கைகளில் வாங்கி, உங்களை பூமியிலிருந்து அழித்துப்போடாதிருப்பேனோ என்று சொல்லி,

11. And when wicked men have slain a righteous man in his own house on his bed, should I not even now seek his blood from your hand, and glean you from the earth?

12. அவர்களைக் கொன்று போடவும், அவர்கள் கைகளையும் கால்களையும் தறித்து, எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற குளத்தண்டையிலே தூக்கிப்போடவும் தன் சேவகருக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டான். இஸ்போசேத்தின் தலையை எடுத்து, எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற அப்னேரின் கல்லறையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

12. And David commanded his young men. And they killed them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hung them by the pool in Hebron. And they took the head of Ishbosheth and buried it in the burying place of Abner in Hebron.
