1. And Joseph charged the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put the money of each in the mouth of his sack.

2. இளையவனுடைய சாக்கின் வாயிலே வெள்ளிப்பாத்திரமாகிய என் பானபாத்திரத்தையும் தானியத்துக்கு அவன் கொடுத்த பணத்தையும் போடு என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்; யோசேப்பு சொன்னபடியே அவன் செய்தான்.

2. And put my silver cup into the sack of the youngest, and the price of his grain. And it was done according to the word of Joseph, as he said.

3. அதிகாலையிலே அந்த மனிதர்கள் தங்கள் கழுதைகளை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோகும்படி அனுப்பிவிடப்பட்டார்கள்.

3. The morning dawned, and the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.

4. அவர்கள் பட்டணத்தை விட்டுப்புறப்பட்டு, வெகுதூரம் போவதற்கு முன்னே, யோசேப்பு தன் வீட்டு விசாரணைக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ புறப்பட்டுப்போய், அந்த மனிதரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, அவர்களைப் பிடித்து: நீங்கள் நன்மைக்குத் தீமை செய்தது என்ன?

4. And when they had gone out of the city, and were not far off, then Joseph said to his steward, Arise, and pursue after the men; and you shall overtake them, and say to them, Why have you returned evil for good?

5. அது என் எஜமான் பானம்பண்ணுகிற பாத்திரம் அல்லவா? அது போனவகை ஞானதிருஷ்டியால் அவருக்குத் தெரியாதா? நீங்கள் செய்தது தகாதகாரியம் என்று அவர்களோடே சொல் என்றான்.

5. Why have you stolen my silver cup? Is it not this out of which my lord drinks? And he practices divination with it. You have accomplished evil in that which you have done.

6. அவன் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடித்து, தன்னிடத்தில் சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தைகளை அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னான்.

6. And he found them, and spoke to them according to these words.

7. அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் இப்படிப்பட்ட வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லுகிறது என்ன? இப்படிப்பட்ட காரியத்துக்கும் உம்முடைய அடியாராகிய எங்களுக்கும் வெகுதூரம்.

7. And they said to him, Why does our lord speak according to these words? Far be it from your servants to do according to this word!

8. எங்கள் சாக்குகளின் வாயிலே நாங்கள் கண்ட பணத்தைக் கானான்தேசத்திலிருந்து திரும்ப உம்மிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவந்தோமே; நாங்கள் உம்முடைய எஜமானின் வீட்டிலிருந்து வெள்ளியையாகிலும், பொன்னையாகிலும் திருடிக்கொண்டு போவோமா?

8. If we brought back to you out of the land of Canaan the money which we found in our sacks, why should we steal silver or gold out of the house of your lord?

9. உம்முடைய அடியாருக்குள்ளே அது எவனிடத்தில் காணப்படுமோ அவன் கொலையுண்ணக்கடவன்; நாங்களும் எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்கு அடிமைகளாவோம் என்றார்கள்.

9. With whomever of your servants you shall find the cup, let him die; and moreover, we will be servants to our lord.

10. அதற்கு அவன்: நீங்கள் சொன்னபடியே ஆகட்டும்; எவனிடத்தில் அது காணப்படுமோ, அவன் எனக்கு அடிமையாவான்; நீங்கள் குற்றமற்றிருப்பீர்கள் என்றான்.

10. And he said, Now then it shall be as you say; with whomever the cup shall be found, he shall be my servant, and you shall be blameless.

11. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் துரிதமாய் அவனவன் தன்தன் சாக்கைத் தரையிலே இறக்கி, தங்கள் சாக்குகளைத் திறந்து வைத்தார்கள்.

11. And they made haste, and took down every man his sack on the ground, and they opened every man's sack.

12. மூத்தவன் சாக்குமுதல் இளையவன் சாக்குமட்டும் அவன் சோதிக்கும்போது, அந்தப் பாத்திரம் பென்யமீனுடைய சாக்கிலே கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது.

12. And he searched, beginning from the eldest, until he came to the youngest; and he found the cup in Benjamin's sack.

13. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, அவனவன் கழுதையின்மேல் பொதியை ஏற்றிக்கொண்டு, பட்டணத்திற்குத் திரும்பினார்கள்.

13. And they tore their clothes, and laid each man's sack on his donkey, and returned to the city.

14. யூதாவும் அவன் சகோதரரும் யோசேப்பின் வீட்டுக்குப் போனார்கள். யோசேப்பு அதுவரையும் அங்கே இருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே விழுந்தார்கள்.

14. And Judah and his brothers came in to Joseph, while he was yet there, and fell on the ground before him.

15. யோசேப்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் என்ன காரியம் செய்தீர்கள்? என்னைப் போலொத்த மனிதனுக்கு ஞானதிருஷ்டியினால் காரியம் தெரியவரும் என்று அறியாமற்போனீர்களா என்றான்.

15. And Joseph said to them, What is this thing you have done? Did you not know that a man such as I can certainly practice divination?

16. அதற்கு யூதா: என் ஆண்டவனாகிய உம்மிடத்தில் நாங்கள் என்ன சொல்லுவோம்? என்னத்தைப் பேசுவோம்? எதினாலே எங்கள் நீதியை விளங்கப்பண்ணுவோம்? உம்முடைய அடியாரின் அக்கிரமத்தை தேவன் விளங்கப்பண்ணினார்; பாத்திரத்தை வைத்திருக்கிறவனும் நாங்களும் என் ஆண்டவனுக்கு அடிமைகள் என்றான்.

16. And Judah said, What shall we answer to our lord, or what shall we say, or how shall we clear ourselves? God has discovered the unrighteousness of your servants; behold, we are slaves to our lord, both we and he with whom the cup has been found.

17. அதற்கு அவன்: அப்படிப்பட்ட செய்கை எனக்குத் தூரமாயிருப்பதாக; எவன் வசத்தில் பாத்திரம் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டதோ, அவனே எனக்கு அடிமையாயிருப்பான்; நீங்களோ சமாதானத்தோடே உங்கள் தகப்பனிடத்துக்குப் போங்கள் என்றான்.

17. And Joseph said, Far be it from me to do this thing; the man with whom the cup has been found, he shall be my servant. But as for you, go up with safety to your father.

18. அப்பொழுது யூதா அவனண்டையிலே சேர்ந்து: ஆ, என் ஆண்டவனே, உமது அடியேன் உம்முடைய செவிகள் கேட்க ஒரு வார்த்தை சொல்லுகிறேன் கேட்பீராக; அடியேன்மேல் உமது கோபம் மூளாதிருப்பதாக; நீர் பார்வோனுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறீர்.

18. And Judah drew near him, and said, I pray, Sir, let your servant speak a word before you, and be not angry with your servant, for you are next to Pharaoh.

19. உங்களுக்குத் தகப்பனாவது சகோதரனாவது உண்டா என்று என் ஆண்டவன் உம்முடைய அடியாரிடத்தில் கேட்டீர்.

19. Sir, you asked your servants, saying, Have you a father or a brother?

20. அதற்கு நாங்கள்: எங்களுக்கு முதிர்வயதுள்ள தகப்பனாரும், அவருக்கு முதிர்வயதிலே பிறந்த ஒரு இளைஞனும் உண்டு என்றும், அவனுடைய தமையன் இறந்துபோனான் என்றும், அவன் ஒருவன்மாத்திரமே அவனைப்பெற்ற தாயாருக்கு இருப்பதினால் தகப்பனார் அவன்மேல் பட்சமாயிருக்கிறார் என்றும் என் ஆண்டவனுக்குச் சொன்னோம்.

20. And we said to my lord, We have a father, an old man, and he has a son of his old age, a young one, and his brother is dead, and he alone has been left behind to his mother, and his father loves him.

21. அப்பொழுது நீர்: அவனை என்னிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்; என் கண்களினால் அவனைப் பார்க்கவேண்டும் என்று உமது அடியாருக்குச் சொன்னீர்.

21. And you said to your servants, Bring him down to me, and I will take care of him.

22. நாங்கள் ஆண்டவனை நோக்கி: அந்த இளைஞன் தன் தகப்பனைவிட்டுப் பிரியக்கூடாது, பிரிந்தால் அவர் இறந்துபோவார் என்று சொன்னோம்.

22. And we said to my lord, The child will not be able to leave his father; but if he should leave his father, he will die.

23. அதற்கு நீர்: உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரனைக் கொண்டுவராவிட்டால், நீங்கள் இனி என் முகத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று உமது அடியாருக்குச் சொன்னீர்.

23. But you said to your servants, Except your younger brother come down with you, you shall not see my face again.

24. நாங்கள் உமது அடியானாகிய என் தகப்பனாரிடத்துக்குப் போனபோது, என் ஆண்டவனுடைய வார்த்தைகளை அவருக்கு அறிவித்தோம்.

24. And it came to pass, when we went up to your servant our father, we reported to him the words of our lord.

25. எங்கள் தகப்பனார் எங்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் திரும்பப்போய், நமக்குக் கொஞ்சம் தானியம் கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று சொன்னார்.

25. And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.

26. அதற்கு: நாங்கள் போகக்கூடாது; எங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் எங்களோடே வந்தால் போவோம்; எங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் எங்களோடே வராவிட்டால், நாங்கள் அந்தப் புருஷனுடைய முகத்தைக்காணக்கூடாது என்றோம்.

26. And we said, We shall not be able to go down; but if our younger brother go down with us, we will go down; for we shall not be able to see the man's face if our younger brother is not with us.

27. அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய அடியானாகிய என் தகப்பனார்: என் மனைவி எனக்கு இரண்டு பிள்ளைகளைப் பெற்றாள்;

27. And your servant our father said to us, You know that my wife bore me two sons;

28. அவர்களில் ஒருவன் என்னிடத்திலிருந்து போய்விட்டான், அவன் பீறுண்டுபோயிருப்பான் என்றிருந்தேன், இதுவரைக்கும் அவனைக் காணாதிருக்கிறேன், இதெல்லாம் நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

28. and one is departed from me; and you said that he was devoured by wild beasts, and I have not seen him until now.

29. நீங்கள் இவனையும் என்னை விட்டுப்பிரித்து அழைத்துப்போகுமிடத்தில் இவனுக்கு மோசம் நேரிட்டால், என் நரைமயிரை வியாகுலத்தோடே பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கப்பண்ணுவீர்கள் என்றார்.

29. If then you take this one also from my presence, and an affliction happen to him by the way, then shall you bring down my old age with sorrow to the grave.

30. ஆகையால் இளையவனை விட்டு, நான் என் தகப்பனாகிய உமது அடியானிடத்துக்குப் போனால், அவருடைய ஜீவன் இவனுடைய ஜீவனோடே ஒன்றாய் இணைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறபடியினால்,

30. Now then, if I should go in to your servant, and our father, and the boy should not be with us, (and his life depends on this [lad's] life)

31. அவர் இளையவன் வரவில்லை என்று அறிந்தமாத்திரத்தில் இறந்துபோவார்; இப்படி உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் உமது அடியானாகிய எங்கள் தகப்பனுடைய நரைமயிரை வியாகுலத்துடனே பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கப்பண்ணுவோம்.

31. - it shall even come to pass, when he sees the boy is not with us, [that] he will die, and your servants will bring down the old age of your servant, and our father, with sorrow to the grave.

32. இந்த இளையவனுக்காக உமது அடியானாகிய நான் என் தகப்பனுக்கு உத்தரவாதி; அன்றியும், நான் இவனை உம்மிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவராவிட்டால், நான் எந்நாளும் உமக்கு முன்பாகக் குற்றவாளியாயிருப்பேன் என்று அவருக்குச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன்.

32. For your servant has received the boy in charge from his father, saying, If I don't bring him to you, and place him before you, I shall be guilty towards my father forever.

33. இப்படியிருக்க, இளையவன் தன் சகோதரரோடேகூடப் போகவிடும்படி மன்றாடுகிறேன்; உம்முடைய அடியானாகிய நான் இளையவனுக்குப் பதிலாக இங்கே என் ஆண்டவனுக்கு அடிமையாயிருக்கிறேன்.

33. Now then I will remain a servant with you instead of the lad, a slave of my lord; but let the lad go up with his brothers.

34. இளையவனை விட்டு, எப்படி என் தகப்பனிடத்துக்குப் போவேன்? போனால் என் தகப்பனுக்கு நேரிடும் தீங்கை நான் எப்படிக் காண்பேன் என்றான்.

34. For how shall I go up to my father, [if] the lad is not with us? Lest I behold the evils which will befall my father.
