1. இந்த நடபடிகளுக்குப்பின்பு, எகிப்து ராஜாவுக்குப் பானபாத்திரக்காரனும் சுயம்பாகியும் எகிப்து ராஜாவாகிய தங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்குக் குற்றம் செய்தார்கள்.

1. NOW SOME time later the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their lord, Egypt's king.

2. பார்வோன் தன் பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவனும் சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவனும் ஆகிய இவ்விரண்டு பிரதானிகள் மேலும் கடுங்கோபங்கொண்டு,

2. And Pharaoh was angry with his officers, the chief of the butlers and the chief of the bakers.

3. அவர்களை யோசேப்பு வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த இடமும் தலையாரிகளின் அதிபதியின் வீடுமாகிய சிறைச்சாலையிலே காவல்பண்ணுவித்தான்.

3. He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison where Joseph was confined.

4. தலையாரிகளின் அதிபதி அவர்களை விசாரிக்கும்படி யோசேப்பின் வசத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தான்; அவன் அவர்களை விசாரித்து வந்தான்; அவர்கள் அநேகநாள் காவலில் இருந்தார்கள்.

4. And the captain of the guard put them in Joseph's charge, and he served them; and they continued in custody for some time.

5. எகிப்து ராஜாவுக்குப் பானபாத்திரக்காரனும் சுயம்பாகியுமாகிய அவ்விரண்டுபேரும் சிறைச்சாலையில் இருக்கும்போது, ஒரே ராத்திரியிலே வெவ்வேறு பொருள்கொண்ட சொப்பனம் கண்டார்கள்.

5. And they both dreamed a dream in the same night, each man according to [the personal significance of] the interpretation of his dream--the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison.

6. காலமே யோசேப்பு அவர்களிடத்தில் போய், அவர்களைப் பார்க்கும்போது, அவர்கள் கலங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

6. When Joseph came to them in the morning and looked at them, he saw that they were sad and depressed.

7. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் எஜமானுடைய வீட்டில் தன்னோடே காவல்பண்ணப்பட்டிருந்த பார்வோனுடைய பிரதானிகளை நோக்கி: உங்கள் முகங்கள் இன்று துக்கமாயிருக்கிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

7. So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were in custody with him in his master's house, Why do you look so dejected and sad today?

8. அதற்கு அவர்கள்: சொப்பனம் கண்டோம், அதற்கு அர்த்தம் சொல்லுகிறவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை என்றார்கள். அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: சொப்பனத்துக்கு அர்த்தம் சொல்லுதல் தேவனுக்குரியதல்லவா? அவைகளை என்னிடத்தில் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

8. And they said to him, We have dreamed dreams, and there is no one to interpret them. And Joseph said to them, Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me [your dreams], I pray you.

9. அப்பொழுது பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: என் சொப்பனத்திலே ஒரு திராட்சச்செடி எனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கக்கண்டேன்.

9. And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph and said to him, In my dream I saw a vine before me,

10. அந்தத் திராட்சச்செடியிலே மூன்று கொடிகள் இருந்தது; அது துளிர்க்கிறதாயிருந்தது; அதில் பூக்கள் மலர்ந்திருந்தது; அதின் குலைகள் பழுத்த பழங்களாயிருந்தது.

10. And on the vine were three branches. Then it was as though it budded; its blossoms burst forth and the clusters of them brought forth ripe grapes [almost all at once].

11. பார்வோனுடைய பாத்திரம் என்கையிலே இருந்தது; நான் அந்தப் பழங்களைப் பறித்து, அவைகளைப் பார்வோனுடைய பாத்திரத்தில் பிழிந்து, அந்தப் பாத்திரத்தைப் பார்வோனுடைய கையிலே கொடுத்தேன் என்று, தன் சொப்பனத்தைச் சொன்னான்.

11. And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup; then I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

12. அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: அந்த மூன்று கொடிகளும் மூன்று நாளாம்.

12. And Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.

13. மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே பார்வோன் உன் தலையை உயர்த்தி, உன்னை மறுபடியும் உன் நிலையிலே நிறுத்துவார்; முன்னே அவருக்குப் பானம் கொடுத்துவந்த வழக்கத்தின்படி பார்வோனின் பாத்திரத்தை அவர் கையிலே கொடுப்பாய்;

13. Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your position, and you will again put Pharaoh's cup into his hand, as when you were his butler.

14. இதுதான் அதின் அர்த்தம் என்று சொன்னதும் அன்றி நீ வாழ்வடைந்திருக்கும்போது, என்னை நினைத்து, என்மேல் தயவுவைத்து, என் காரியத்தைப் பார்வோனுக்கு அறிவித்து, இந்த இடத்திலிருந்து என்னை விடுதலையாக்கவேண்டும்.

14. But think of me when it shall be well with you and show kindness, I beg of you, to me, and mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house.

15. நான் எபிரெயருடைய தேசத்திலிருந்து களவாய்க் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டேன்; என்னை இந்தக் காவல்கிடங்கில் வைக்கும்படிக்கும் நான் இவ்விடத்தில் ஒன்றும் செய்யவில்லை என்றும் சொன்னான்.

15. For truly I was carried away from the land of the Hebrews by unlawful force, and here too I have done nothing for which they should put me into the dungeon.

16. அர்த்தம் நன்றாயிருக்கிறது என்று சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவன் கண்டு, யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: நானும் என் சொப்பனத்தில் மூன்று வெள்ளைக் கூடைகள் என் தலையின்மேல் இருக்கக்கண்டேன்;

16. When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also dreamed, and behold, I had three cake baskets on my head.

17. மேற்கூடையிலே பார்வோனுக்காக சமைக்கப்பட்ட சகலவித பலகாரங்களிலும் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சம் இருந்தது; என் தலையின் மேல் கூடையில் இருந்தவைகளைப் பறவைகள் வந்து பட்சித்தது என்றான்.

17. And in the uppermost basket were some of all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, but the birds [of prey] were eating out of the basket on my head.

18. அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: அந்த மூன்று கூடைகளும் மூன்று நாளாம்.

18. And Joseph answered, This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.

19. இன்னும் மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே பார்வோன் உன் தலையை உயர்த்தி, உன்னை மரத்திலே தூக்கிப்போடுவார்; அப்பொழுது பறவைகள் உன் மாம்சத்தைத் தின்னும், இதுதான் அதின் அர்த்தம் என்று சொன்னான்.

19. Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head but will have you beheaded and hung on a tree, and [you will not so much as be given burial, but] the birds will eat your flesh.

20. மூன்றாம் நாள் பார்வோனுடைய ஜன்ம நாளாயிருந்தது; அவன் தன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாருக்கும் விருந்துபண்ணி, பானபாத்திரக்காரருடைய தலைவன் தலையையும் சுயம்பாகிகளுடைய தலைவன் தலையையும் தன் உத்தியோகஸ்தரின் நடுவே உயர்த்தி,

20. And on the third day, Pharaoh's birthday, he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the heads of the chief butler and the chief baker [by inviting them also] among his servants.

21. பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவனைப் பானங்கொடுக்கிற தன் உத்தியோகத்திலே மறுபடியும் வைத்தான்; அந்தப்படியே அவன் பார்வோனுடைய கையிலே பாத்திரத்தைக் கொடுத்தான்.

21. And he restored the chief butler to his butlership, and the butler gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand;

22. சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவனையோ தூக்கிப்போட்டான். யோசேப்பு அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்ன அர்த்தத்தின்படியே சம்பவித்தது.

22. But [Pharaoh] hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23. ஆனாலும் பானபாத்திரக்காரனின் தலைவன் யோசேப்பை நினையாமல் அவனை மறந்துவிட்டான்.

23. But [even after all that] the chief butler gave no thought to Joseph, but forgot [all about] him.
