1. யோசேப்பு எகிப்துக்குக் கொண்டு போகப்பட்டான். பார்வோனுடைய பிரதானியும் தலையாரிகளுக்கு அதிபதியுமாகிய போத்திபார் என்னும் எகிப்து தேசத்தான் அவனை அவ்விடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்த இஸ்மவேலரிடத்தில் விலைக்கு வாங்கினான்.

1. And Joseph hath been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, a eunuch of Pharaoh, head of the executioners, an Egyptian man, buyeth him out of the hands of the Ishmaelites who have brought him thither.

2. கர்த்தர் யோசேப்போடே இருந்தார், அவன் காரியசித்தியுள்ளவனானான்; அவன் எகிப்தியனாகிய தன் எஜமானுடைய வீட்டிலே இருந்தான்.

2. And Jehovah is with Joseph, and he is a prosperous man, and he is in the house of his lord the Egyptian,

3. கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருக்கிறார் என்றும், அவன் செய்கிற யாவையும் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணுகிறார் என்றும், அவன் எஜமான் கண்டு;

3. and his lord seeth that Jehovah is with him, and all that he is doing Jehovah is causing to prosper in his hand,

4. யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் தயவுவைத்து, அவனைத் தனக்கு ஊழியக்காரனும் தன் வீட்டுக்கு விசாரணைக்காரனுமாக்கி, தனக்கு உண்டான யாவற்றையும் அவன் கையில் ஒப்புவித்தான்.

4. and Joseph findeth grace in his eyes and serveth him, and he appointeth him over his house, and all that he hath he hath given into his hand.

5. அவனைத் தன் வீட்டுக்கும் தனக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் விசாரணைக்காரனாக்கினது முதற்கொண்டு, கர்த்தர் யோசேப்பினிமித்தம் அந்த எகிப்தியன் வீட்டை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்; வீட்டிலும் வெளியிலும் அவனுக்கு உண்டானவைகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் இருந்தது.

5. And it cometh to pass from the time that he hath appointed him over his house, and over all that he hath, that Jehovah blesseth the house of the Egyptian for Joseph's sake, and the blessing of Jehovah is on all that he hath, in the house, and in the field;

6. ஆகையால், அவன் தனக்கு உண்டானதையெல்லாம் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துவிட்டு, தான் புசிக்கிற போஜனம் தவிர தன்னிடத்திலிருந்த மற்றொன்றைக்குறித்தும் விசாரியாதிருந்தான். யோசேப்பு அழகான ரூபமும் சௌந்தரிய முகமும் உள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

6. and he leaveth all that he hath in the hand of Joseph, and he hath not known anything that he hath, except the bread which he is eating. And Joseph is of a fair form, and of a fair appearance.

7. சிலநாள் சென்றபின், அவனுடைய எஜமானின் மனைவி யோசேப்பின்மேல் கண்போட்டு, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள்.

7. And it cometh to pass after these things, that his lord's wife lifteth up her eyes unto Joseph, and saith, 'Lie with me;'

8. அவனோ தன் எஜமானுடைய மனைவியின் சொல்லுக்கு இணங்காமல், அவளை நோக்கி: இதோ, வீட்டிலே என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறவைகளில் யாதொன்றைக்குறித்தும் என் ஆண்டவன் விசாரியாமல், தமக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் என்கையில் ஒப்பித்திருக்கிறார்.

8. and he refuseth, and saith unto his lord's wife, 'Lo, my lord hath not known what [is] with me in the house, and all that he hath he hath given into my hand;

9. இந்த வீட்டிலே என்னிலும் பெரியவன் இல்லை; நீ அவருடைய மனைவியாயிருக்கிறபடியால் உன்னைத்தவிர வேறோன்றையும் அவர் எனக்கு விலக்கி வைக்கவில்லை; இப்படியிருக்க, நான் இத்தனை பெரிய பொல்லாங்குக்கு உடன்பட்டு, தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்வது எப்படி என்றான்.

9. none is greater in this house than I, and he hath not withheld from me anything, except thee, because thou [art] his wife; and how shall I do this great evil? -- then have I sinned against God.'

10. அவள் நித்தம் நித்தம் யோசேப்போடே இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டு வந்தும், அவன் அவளுடனே சயனிக்கவும் அவளுடனே இருக்கவும் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.

10. And it cometh to pass at her speaking unto Joseph day [by] day, that he hath not hearkened unto her, to lie near her, to be with her;

11. இப்படியிருக்கும்போது, ஒருநாள் அவன் தன் வேலையைச் செய்கிறதற்கு வீட்டுக்குள் போனான்; வீட்டு மனிதரில் ஒருவரும் வீட்டில் இல்லை.

11. and it cometh to pass about this day, that he goeth into the house to do his work, and there is none of the men of the house there in the house,

12. அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைப் பற்றிப் பிடித்து, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள். அவனோ தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான்.

12. and she catcheth him by his garment, saying, 'Lie with me;' and he leaveth his garment in her hand, and fleeth, and goeth without.

13. அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனதை அவள் கண்டபோது,

13. And it cometh to pass when she seeth that he hath left his garment in her hand, and fleeth without,

14. அவள் தன் வீட்டு மனிதரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: பாருங்கள், எபிரெய மனுஷன் நம்மிடத்தில் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு அவனை நமக்குள் கொண்டுவந்தார், அவன் என்னோடே சயனிக்கும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்; நான் மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டேன்.

14. that she calleth for the men of her house, and speaketh to them, saying, 'See, he hath brought in to us a man, a Hebrew, to play with us; he hath come in unto me, to lie with me, and I call with a loud voice,

15. நான் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிடுகிறதை அவன் கேட்டு, தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு, வெளியே ஓடிப்போய்விட்டான் என்று சொன்னாள்.

15. and it cometh to pass, when he heareth that I have lifted up my voice and call, that he leaveth his garment near me, and fleeth, and goeth without.'

16. அவனுடைய எஜமான் வீட்டுக்கு வருமளவும் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைத் தன்னிடத்தில் வைத்திருந்து,

16. And she placeth his garment near her, until the coming in of his lord unto his house.

17. அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் நம்மிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்த அந்த எபிரெய வேலைக்காரன் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்.

17. And she speaketh unto him according to these words, saying, 'The Hebrew servant whom thou hast brought unto us, hath come in unto me to play with me;

18. அப்பொழுது நான் சத்தமிட்டுக்கூப்பிட்டேன், அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான் என்றாள்.

18. and it cometh to pass, when I lift my voice and call, that he leaveth his garment near me, and fleeth without.'

19. உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரன் எனக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தான் என்று தன் மனைவி தன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை அவனுடைய எஜமான் கேட்டபோது, அவனுக்குக் கோபம் மூண்டது.

19. And it cometh to pass when his lord heareth the words of his wife, which she hath spoken unto him, saying, 'According to these things hath thy servant done to me,' that his anger burneth;

20. யோசேப்பின் எஜமான் அவனைப்பிடித்து, ராஜாவின் கட்டளையால் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் இருக்கும் சிறைச்சாலையிலே அவனை ஒப்புவித்தான். அந்தச் சிறைச்சாலையில் அவன் இருந்தான்.

20. and Joseph's lord taketh him, and putteth him unto the round-house, a place where the king's prisoners [are] bound; and he is there in the round-house.

21. கர்த்தரோ யோசேப்போடே இருந்து, அவன்மேல் கிருபைவைத்து, சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவனுடைய தயவு அவனுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்படி செய்தார்.

21. And Jehovah is with Joseph, and stretcheth out kindness unto him, and putteth his grace in the eyes of the chief of the round-house;

22. சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்பட்ட யாவரையும் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புவித்தான்; அங்கே அவர்கள் செய்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் யோசேப்பு செய்வித்தான்.

22. and the chief of the round-house giveth into the hand of Joseph all the prisoners who [are] in the round-house, and of all that they are doing there, he hath been doer;

23. கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருந்தபடியினாலும், அவன் எதைச் செய்தானோ அதைக் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணினபடியினாலும், அவன் வசமாயிருந்த யாதொன்றையும் குறித்துச் சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் விசாரிக்கவில்லை.

23. the chief of the round-house seeth not anything under his hand, because Jehovah [is] with him, and that which he is doing Jehovah is causing to prosper.
