1. யோசேப்பு எகிப்துக்குக் கொண்டு போகப்பட்டான். பார்வோனுடைய பிரதானியும் தலையாரிகளுக்கு அதிபதியுமாகிய போத்திபார் என்னும் எகிப்து தேசத்தான் அவனை அவ்விடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்த இஸ்மவேலரிடத்தில் விலைக்கு வாங்கினான்.

1. Now Ioseph was brought downe into Egypt: and Potiphar an Eunuche of Pharaohs (and his chiefe stewarde an Egyptian) bought him at the hande of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him thither.

2. கர்த்தர் யோசேப்போடே இருந்தார், அவன் காரியசித்தியுள்ளவனானான்; அவன் எகிப்தியனாகிய தன் எஜமானுடைய வீட்டிலே இருந்தான்.

2. And the Lord was with Ioseph, and he was a man that prospered and was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

3. கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருக்கிறார் என்றும், அவன் செய்கிற யாவையும் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணுகிறார் என்றும், அவன் எஜமான் கண்டு;

3. And his master sawe that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that hee did to prosper in his hande.

4. யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் தயவுவைத்து, அவனைத் தனக்கு ஊழியக்காரனும் தன் வீட்டுக்கு விசாரணைக்காரனுமாக்கி, தனக்கு உண்டான யாவற்றையும் அவன் கையில் ஒப்புவித்தான்.

4. So Ioseph founde fauour in his sight, and serued him: and he made him ruler of his house, and put all that he had in his hand.

5. அவனைத் தன் வீட்டுக்கும் தனக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் விசாரணைக்காரனாக்கினது முதற்கொண்டு, கர்த்தர் யோசேப்பினிமித்தம் அந்த எகிப்தியன் வீட்டை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்; வீட்டிலும் வெளியிலும் அவனுக்கு உண்டானவைகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் இருந்தது.

5. And from that time that he had made him ruler ouer his house and ouer all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptians house for Iosephs sake: and the blessing of the Lord was vpon all that he had in the house, and in the fielde.

6. ஆகையால், அவன் தனக்கு உண்டானதையெல்லாம் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துவிட்டு, தான் புசிக்கிற போஜனம் தவிர தன்னிடத்திலிருந்த மற்றொன்றைக்குறித்தும் விசாரியாதிருந்தான். யோசேப்பு அழகான ரூபமும் சௌந்தரிய முகமும் உள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

6. Therefore he left all that he had in Iosephs hand, and tooke accompt of nothing, that was with him, saue onely of the bread, which he did eate. And Ioseph was a faire person, and well fauoured.

7. சிலநாள் சென்றபின், அவனுடைய எஜமானின் மனைவி யோசேப்பின்மேல் கண்போட்டு, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள்.

7. Nowe therefore after these thinges, his masters wife cast her eyes vpon Ioseph, and saide, Lye with me.

8. அவனோ தன் எஜமானுடைய மனைவியின் சொல்லுக்கு இணங்காமல், அவளை நோக்கி: இதோ, வீட்டிலே என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறவைகளில் யாதொன்றைக்குறித்தும் என் ஆண்டவன் விசாரியாமல், தமக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் என்கையில் ஒப்பித்திருக்கிறார்.

8. But he refused and said to his masters wife, Beholde, my master knoweth not what he hath in the house with me, but hath committed all that he hath to mine hande.

9. இந்த வீட்டிலே என்னிலும் பெரியவன் இல்லை; நீ அவருடைய மனைவியாயிருக்கிறபடியால் உன்னைத்தவிர வேறோன்றையும் அவர் எனக்கு விலக்கி வைக்கவில்லை; இப்படியிருக்க, நான் இத்தனை பெரிய பொல்லாங்குக்கு உடன்பட்டு, தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்வது எப்படி என்றான்.

9. There is no man greater in this house then I: neither hath he kept any thing from me, but only thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickednes and so sinne against God?

10. அவள் நித்தம் நித்தம் யோசேப்போடே இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டு வந்தும், அவன் அவளுடனே சயனிக்கவும் அவளுடனே இருக்கவும் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.

10. And albeit she spake to Ioseph day by day, yet he hearkened not vnto her, to lye with her, or to be in her company.

11. இப்படியிருக்கும்போது, ஒருநாள் அவன் தன் வேலையைச் செய்கிறதற்கு வீட்டுக்குள் போனான்; வீட்டு மனிதரில் ஒருவரும் வீட்டில் இல்லை.

11. Then on a certaine day Ioseph entred into the house, to doe his businesse: and there was no man of the houshold in the house:

12. அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைப் பற்றிப் பிடித்து, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள். அவனோ தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான்.

12. Therefore she caught him by his garmet, saying, Sleepe with me: but he left his garment in her hand and fled, and got him out.

13. அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனதை அவள் கண்டபோது,

13. Nowe when she sawe that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled out,

14. அவள் தன் வீட்டு மனிதரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: பாருங்கள், எபிரெய மனுஷன் நம்மிடத்தில் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு அவனை நமக்குள் கொண்டுவந்தார், அவன் என்னோடே சயனிக்கும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்; நான் மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டேன்.

14. She called vnto the men of her house, and tolde them, saying, Beholde, he hath brought in an Ebrewe vnto vs to mocke vs: who came in to me for to haue slept with me: but I cryed with a loude voyce.

15. நான் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிடுகிறதை அவன் கேட்டு, தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு, வெளியே ஓடிப்போய்விட்டான் என்று சொன்னாள்.

15. And when he heard that I lift vp my voice and cryed, he left his garment with me, and fled away, and got him out.

16. அவனுடைய எஜமான் வீட்டுக்கு வருமளவும் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைத் தன்னிடத்தில் வைத்திருந்து,

16. So she layde vp his garment by her, vntill her lord came home.

17. அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் நம்மிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்த அந்த எபிரெய வேலைக்காரன் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்.

17. Then she tolde him according to these words, saying, The Ebrew seruat, which thou hast brought vnto vs, came in to me, to mocke me.

18. அப்பொழுது நான் சத்தமிட்டுக்கூப்பிட்டேன், அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான் என்றாள்.

18. But assoone as I lift vp my voyce and cried, he left his garment with me, and fled out.

19. உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரன் எனக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தான் என்று தன் மனைவி தன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை அவனுடைய எஜமான் கேட்டபோது, அவனுக்குக் கோபம் மூண்டது.

19. Then when his master heard the wordes of his wife, which she tolde him, saying, After this maner did thy seruant to me, his anger was kindled.

20. யோசேப்பின் எஜமான் அவனைப்பிடித்து, ராஜாவின் கட்டளையால் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் இருக்கும் சிறைச்சாலையிலே அவனை ஒப்புவித்தான். அந்தச் சிறைச்சாலையில் அவன் இருந்தான்.

20. And Iosephs master tooke him and put him in prison, in the place, where the kings prisoners lay bounde: and there he was in prison.

21. கர்த்தரோ யோசேப்போடே இருந்து, அவன்மேல் கிருபைவைத்து, சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவனுடைய தயவு அவனுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்படி செய்தார்.

21. But the Lord was with Ioseph, and shewed him mercie, and got him fauour in the sight of the master of the prison.

22. சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்பட்ட யாவரையும் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புவித்தான்; அங்கே அவர்கள் செய்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் யோசேப்பு செய்வித்தான்.

22. And the keeper of the prison committed to Iosephs hande all the prisoners that were in the prison, and whatsoeuer they did there, that did he.

23. கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருந்தபடியினாலும், அவன் எதைச் செய்தானோ அதைக் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணினபடியினாலும், அவன் வசமாயிருந்த யாதொன்றையும் குறித்துச் சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் விசாரிக்கவில்லை.

23. And the keeper of the prison looked vnto nothing that was vnder his hande, seeing that the Lord was with him: for whatsoeuer he did, the Lord made it to prosper.
