1. சிநெயாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அம்ராப்பேலும், ஏலாசாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அரியோகும், ஏலாமின் ராஜாவாகிய கெதர்லா கோமேரும், ஜாதிகளின் ராஜாவாகிய திதியாலும் இருந்த நாட்களில்;

1. Four kings, Amraphel of Babylonia, Arioch of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer of Elam, and Tidal of Goiim,

2. அவர்கள் சோதோமின் ராஜாவாகிய பேராவோடும், கொமோராவின் ராஜாவாகிய பிர்சாவோடும், அத்மாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சிநெயாவோடும், செபோயீமின் ராஜாவாகிய செமேபரோடும், சோவார் என்னும் பேலாவின் ராஜாவோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

2. went to war against five other kings: Bera of Sodom, Birsha of Gomorrah, Shinab of Admah, Shemeber of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (or Zoar).

3. இவர்களெல்லாரும் உப்புக்கடலாகிய சித்தீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே கூடினார்கள்.

3. These five kings had formed an alliance and joined forces in Siddim Valley, which is now the Dead Sea.

4. இவர்கள் பன்னிரண்டு வருஷம் கெதர்லாகோமேரைச் சேவித்து, பதின்மூன்றாம் வருஷத்திலே கலகம் பண்ணினார்கள்.

4. They had been under the control of Chedorlaomer for twelve years, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled against him.

5. பதினாலாம் வருஷத்திலே கெதர்லாகோமேரும், அவனோடே கூடியிருந்த ராஜாக்களும் வந்து, அஸ்தரோத்கர்னாயீமிலே இருந்த ரெப்பாயீமியரையும், காமிலே இருந்த சூசிமியரையும், சாவேகீரியத்தாயீமிலே இருந்த ஏமியரையும்,

5. In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and his allies came with their armies and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in the plain of Kiriathaim,

6. சேயீர் மலைகளில் இருந்த ஓரியரையும், வனாந்தரத்துக்கு அருகான எல்பாரான்மட்டும் முறியடித்து,

6. and the Horites in the mountains of Edom, pursuing them as far as Elparan on the edge of the desert.

7. திரும்பிக் காதேஸ் என்னும் என்மிஸ்பாத்துக்கு வந்து, அமலேக்கியருடைய நாடனைத்தையும், அத்சாத்சோன் தாமாரிலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியரையும் கூடச் சங்கரித்தார்கள்.

7. Then they turned around and came back to Kadesh (then known as Enmishpat). They conquered all the land of the Amalekites and defeated the Amorites who lived in Hazazon Tamar.

8. அப்பொழுது சோதோமின் ராஜாவும், கொமோராவின் ராஜாவும், அத்மாவின் ராஜாவும், செபோயீமின் ராஜாவும், சோவார் என்னும் பேலாவின் ராஜாவும் புறப்பட்டுச் சித்தீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே,

8. Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Bela drew up their armies for battle in Siddim Valley and fought

9. ஏலாமின் ராஜாவாகிய கெதர்லாகோமேரோடும், ஜாதிகளின் ராஜாவாகிய திதியாலோடும், சிநெயாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அம்ராப்பேலோடும், ஏலாசாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அரியோகோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டு, அந்த ஐந்து ராஜாக்களோடும் இந்த நாலு ராஜாக்களும் யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. against the kings of Elam, Goiim, Babylonia, and Ellasar, five kings against four.

10. அந்தச் சித்தீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கு எங்கும் நிலக்கீல் உண்டாகும் கேணிகள் இருந்தது. சோதோம் கொமோராவின் ராஜாக்கள் முறிந்தோடி அங்கே விழுந்தார்கள்; மீந்தவர்கள் மலைகளுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

10. The valley was full of tar pits, and when the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah tried to run away from the battle, they fell into the pits; but the other three kings escaped to the mountains.

11. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் சோதோமிலும் கோமோராவிலுமுள்ள பொருள்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும், போஜனபதார்த்தங்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போய்விட்டார்கள்.

11. The four kings took everything in Sodom and Gomorrah, including the food, and went away.

12. ஆபிராமின் சகோதரனுடைய குமாரனாகிய லோத்து சோதோமிலே குடியிருந்தபடியால், அவனையும், அவன் பொருள்களையும் கொண்டுபோய்விட்டார்கள்.

12. Lot, Abram's nephew, was living in Sodom, so they took him and all his possessions.

13. தப்பியோடின ஒருவன் எபிரெயனாகிய ஆபிராமிடத்தில் வந்து அதை அறிவித்தான்; ஆபிராம் தன்னோடே உடன்படிக்கை செய்திருந்த மனிதராகிய எஸ்கோலுக்கும், ஆநேருக்கும் சகோதரனாகிய மம்ரே என்னும் எமோரியனுடைய சமபூமியிலே அப்பொழுது குடியிருந்தான்.

13. But a man escaped and reported all this to Abram, the Hebrew, who was living near the sacred trees belonging to Mamre the Amorite. Mamre and his brothers Eshcol and Aner were Abram's allies.

14. தன் சகோதரன் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டதை ஆபிராம் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவன் தன் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த கைபடிந்தவர்களாகிய முந்நூற்றுப் பதினெட்டு ஆட்களுக்கும் ஆயுதம் தரிப்பித்து, தாண் என்னும் ஊர் மட்டும் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து,

14. When Abram heard that his nephew had been captured, he called together all the fighting men in his camp, 318 in all, and pursued the four kings all the way to Dan.

15. இராக்காலத்திலே அவனும், அவன் வேலைக்காரரும் பிரிந்து, பவிஞ்சுகளாய் அவர்கள்மேல் விழுந்து, அவர்களை முறியடித்து, தமஸ்குவுக்கு இடதுபுறமான ஓபாமட்டும் துரத்தி,

15. There he divided his men into groups, attacked the enemy by night, and defeated them. He chased them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus,

16. சகல பொருள்களையும் திருப்பிக்கொண்டுவந்தான்; தன் சகோதரனாகிய லோத்தையும், அவனுடைய பொருள்களையும், ஸ்திரீகளையும், ஜனங்களையும் திருப்பிக்கொண்டுவந்தான்.

16. and got back all the loot that had been taken. He also brought back his nephew Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other prisoners.

17. அவன் கெதர்லாகோமேரையும், அவனோடிருந்த ராஜாக்களையும் முறியடித்துத் திரும்பிவருகிறபோது, சோதோமின் ராஜா புறப்பட்டு, ராஜாவின் பள்ளத்தாக்கு என்னும் சாவே பள்ளத்தாக்குமட்டும் அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோனான்.

17. When Abram came back from his victory over Chedorlaomer and the other kings, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in Shaveh Valley (also called King's Valley).

18. அன்றியும், உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஆசாரியனாயிருந்த சாலேமின் ராஜாவாகிய மெல்கிசேதேக்கு அப்பமும் திராட்சரசமும் கொண்டுவந்து,

18. And Melchizedek, who was king of Salem and also a priest of the Most High God, brought bread and wine to Abram,

19. அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து: வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உடையவராகிய உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் ஆபிராமுக்கு உண்டாவதாக.

19. blessed him, and said, 'May the Most High God, who made heaven and earth, bless Abram!

20. உன் சத்துருக்களை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த உன்னதமான தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் என்று சொன்னான். இவனுக்கு ஆபிராம் எல்லாவற்றிலும் தசமபாகம் கொடுத்தான்.

20. May the Most High God, who gave you victory over your enemies, be praised!' And Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the loot he had recovered.

21. சோதோமின் ராஜா ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: ஜனங்களை எனக்குத் தாரும், பொருள்களை நீர் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும் என்றான்.

21. The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Keep the loot, but give me back all my people.'

22. அதற்கு, ஆபிராம் சோதோமின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து; ஆபிராமை ஐசுவரியவனாக்கினேன் என்று நீர் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு நான் ஒரு சரட்டையாகிலும் பாதரட்சையின் வாரையாகிலும், உமக்கு உண்டானவைகளில் யாதொன்றையாகிலும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளேன் என்று,
வெளிப்படுத்தின விசேஷம் 10:5

22. Abram answered, 'I solemnly swear before the LORD, the Most High God, Maker of heaven and earth,

23. வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உடையவராகிய உன்னதமான தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு நேராக என் கையை உயர்த்துகிறேன்.

23. that I will not keep anything of yours, not even a thread or a sandal strap. Then you can never say, 'I am the one who made Abram rich.'

24. வாலிபர் சாப்பிட்டதுபோக, என்னுடனே வந்த ஆநேர், எஸ்கோல், மம்ரே என்னும் புருஷருடைய பங்குமாத்திரமே வரவேண்டும்; இவர்கள் தங்கள் பங்கை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளட்டும் என்றான்.

24. I will take nothing for myself. I will accept only what my men have used. But let my allies, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre, take their share.'
