1. கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாயிராதபடிக்கு, நான் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளின சவுலுக்காக நீ எந்தமட்டும் துக்கித்துக்கொண்டிருப்பாய்; நீ உன் கொம்பை தைலத்தால் நிரப்பிக்கொண்டுவா; பெத்லெகேமியனாகிய ஈசாயினிடத்துக்கு உன்னை அனுப்புவேன்; அவன் குமாரரில் ஒருவனை நான் ராஜாவாகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டேன் என்றார்.
லூக்கா 3:31-32

1. The LORD said to Shemu'el, How long will you mourn for Sha'ul, seeing I have rejected him from being king over Yisra'el? fill your horn with oil, and go: I will send you to Yishai the Beit-Hallachmite; for I have provided me a king among his sons.

2. அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: நான் எப்படிப்போவேன்; சவுல் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டால், என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடுவானே என்றான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: நீ ஒரு காளையைக் கையோடே கொண்டுபோய், கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி,

2. Shemu'el said, How can I go? if Sha'ul hear it, he will kill me. The LORD said, Take a heifer with you, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.

3. ஈசாயைப் பலிவிருந்துக்கு அழைப்பாயாக; அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை நான் உனக்கு அறிவிப்பேன்; நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறவனை எனக்காக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவாயாக என்றார்.

3. Call Yishai to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do: and you shall anoint to me him whom I name to you.

4. கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடியே சாமுவேல் செய்து, பெத்லெகேமுக்குப் போனான்; அப்பொழுது அவ்வூரின் மூப்பர் தத்தளிப்போடே அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்து, நீர் வருகிறது சமாதானமா என்றார்கள்.

4. Shemu'el did that which the LORD spoke, and came to Beit-Lechem. The Zakenim of the city came to meet him trembling, and said, Come you peaceably?

5. அதற்கு அவன்: சமாதானந்தான்; கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன்; நீங்கள் உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, என்னுடனேகூடப் பலிவிருந்துக்கு வாருங்கள் என்றான்; மேலும் ஈசாயையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணி, அவர்களைப் பலிவிருந்துக்கு அழைத்தான்.

5. He said, Peaceably; I am come to sacrifice to the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. He sanctified Yishai and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

6. It happened, when they had come, that he looked at Eli'av, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him.

7. கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நீ இவனுடைய முகத்தையும், இவனுடைய சரீரவளர்ச்சியையும் பார்க்கவேண்டாம்; நான் இவனைப் புறக்கணித்தேன்; மனுஷன் பார்க்கிறபடி நான் பாரேன்; மனுஷன் முகத்தைப் பார்ப்பான்; கர்த்தரோ இருதயத்தைப் பார்க்கிறார் என்றார்.

7. But the LORD said to Shemu'el, 'Don't look on his face, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'

8. அப்பொழுது ஈசாய் அபினதாபை அழைத்து, அவனைச் சாமுவேலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணினான்; அவன்: இவனையும் கர்த்தர் தெரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை என்றான்.

8. Then Yishai called Avinadav, and made him pass before Shemu'el. He said, Neither has the LORD chosen this.

9. ஈசாய் சம்மாவையும் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணினான்; அவன்: இவனையும் கர்த்தர் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை என்றான்.

9. Then Yishai made Shammah to pass by. He said, Neither has the LORD chosen this.

10. இப்படி ஈசாய் தன் குமாரரில் ஏழு பேரை சாமுவேலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணினான்; பின்பு சாமுவேல் ஈசாயைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் இவர்களில் ஒருவனையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை என்று சொல்லி;

10. Yishai made seven of his sons to pass before Shemu'el. Shemu'el said to Yishai, the LORD has not chosen these.

11. உன் பிள்ளைகள் இவ்வளவுதானா என்று ஈசாயைக் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: இன்னும் எல்லாருக்கும் இளையவன் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; அவன் ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் ஈசாயை நோக்கி: ஆள் அனுப்பி அவனை அழைப்பி; அவன் இங்கே வருமட்டும் நான் பந்தியிருக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

11. Shemu'el said to Yishai, Are here all your children? He said, There remains yet the youngest, and, behold, he is keeping the sheep. Shemu'el said to Yishai, Send and get him; for we will not sit down until he come here.

12. ஆள் அனுப்பி அவனை அழைப்பித்தான்; அவன் சிவந்த மேனியும், அழகிய கண்களும், நல்ல ரூபமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இவன்தான், நீ எழுந்து இவனை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணு என்றார்.

12. He sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful face, and goodly to look on. The LORD said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he.

13. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: தைலக்கொம்பை எடுத்து, அவனை அவன் சகோதரர் நடுவிலே அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினான்; அந்நாள் முதற்கொண்டு, கர்த்தருடைய ஆவியானவர் தாவீதின்மேல் வந்து இறங்கியிருந்தார்; சாமுவேல் எழுந்து ராமாவுக்குப் போய்விட்டான்.

13. Then Shemu'el took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily on David from that day forward. So Shemu'el rose up, and went to Ramah.

14. கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி சவுலை விட்டு நீங்கினார்; கர்த்தரால் வரவிடப்பட்ட ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தது.

14. Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Sha'ul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

15. அப்பொழுது சவுலின் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறதே.

15. Sha'ul's servants said to him, See now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.

16. சுரமண்டலம் வாசிக்கிறதில் தேறின ஒருவனைத் தேடும்படிக்கு, எங்கள் ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் உமக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிற உம்முடைய அடியாருக்குக் கட்டளையிடும்; அப்பொழுது தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட பொல்லாத ஆவி உம்மேல் இறங்குகையில், அவன் தன் கையினால் அதை வாசித்தால் உமக்குச் சவுக்கியமுண்டாகும் என்றார்கள்.

16. Let our lord now command your servants who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp: and it shall happen, when the evil spirit from God is on you, that he shall play with his hand, and you shall be well.

17. சவுல் தன் ஊழியக்காரரைப் பார்த்து: நன்றாய் வாசிக்கத்தக்க ஒருவனைத் தேடி, என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்.

17. Sha'ul said to his servants, Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.

18. அப்பொழுது அந்த வேலைக்காரரில் ஒருவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இதோ, பெத்லெகேமியனாகிய ஈசாயின் குமாரன் ஒருவனைக் கண்டிருக்கிறேன்; அவன் வாசிப்பதில் தேறினவன், அவன் பராக்கிரமசாலி, யுத்தவீரன், காரியசமர்த்தன், சவுந்தரியமுள்ளவன்; கர்த்தர் அவனோடேகூட இருக்கிறார் என்றான்.

18. Then answered one of the young men, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Yishai the Beit-Hallachmite, who is skillful in playing, and a mighty man of valor, and a man of war, and prudent in speech, and a comely person; and the LORD is with him.

19. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஈசாயினிடத்தில் ஆட்களை அனுப்பி, ஆட்டு மந்தையில் இருக்கிற உன் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதை என்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பு என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

19. Therefore Sha'ul sent messengers to Yishai, and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.

20. அப்பொழுது ஈசாய்: அப்பத்தையும், ஒரு துருத்தி திராட்சரசத்தையும், ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியையும் கழுதையின் மேல் ஏற்றி, தன் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதின் வசமாய் சவுலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.

20. Yishai took a donkey loaded with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son to Sha'ul.

21. அப்படியே தாவீது சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றான்; அவன் இவனை மிகவும் சிநேகித்தான்; அவனுக்கு இவன் ஆயுததாரியானான்.

21. David came to Sha'ul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armor bearer.

22. சவுல் ஈசாயினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, தாவீது எனக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கட்டும்; என் கண்களில் அவனுக்குத் தயவு கிடைத்தது என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

22. Sha'ul sent to Yishai, saying, Please let David stand before me; for he has found favor in my sight.

23. அப்படியே தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட ஆவி சவுலைப் பிடிக்கும்போது, தாவீது சுரமண்டலத்தை எடுத்து, தன் கையினால் வாசிப்பான்; அதினாலே பொல்லாத ஆவி அவனை விட்டு நீங்க, சவுல் ஆறுதலடைந்து, சொஸ்தமாவான்.

23. It happened, when the evil spirit from God was on Sha'ul, that David took the harp, and played with his hand: so Sha'ul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
