1. எரிகோ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாக அடைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது; ஒருவரும் வெளியே போகவுமில்லை, ஒருவரும் உள்ளே வரவுமில்லை.

1. And Iericho was shut vp and closed, because of the childre of Israel, neither myght any man go out, or in.

2. கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, எரிகோவையும் அதின் ராஜாவையும், யுத்தவீரரையும் உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்.

2. And the Lorde sayde vnto Iosuah: Behold, I haue geuen into thyne hande Iericho, and the kyng therof, and the strong men of warre.

3. யுத்தபுருஷராகிய நீங்கள் அனைவரும் பட்டணத்தைச் சூழ்ந்து ஒருதரம் சுற்றி வாருங்கள்; இப்படி ஆறுநாள் செய்யக்கடவீர்கள்.

3. And ye shall compasse all the citie, all ye that be men of warre, and go rounde about it once: & so shal you do sixe dayes.

4. ஏழு ஆசாரியர் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக ஏழு கொம்பு எக்காளங்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும்; ஏழாம்நாளில் பட்டணத்தை ஏழுதரம் சுற்றிவரக்கடவர்கள்; ஆசாரியர் எக்காளங்களை ஊதவேண்டும்.

4. And seuen priestes shall beare before the arke seuen trumpettes of rammes hornes: And the seuenth day ye shall compasse the citie seuen tymes, and the priestes shal blowe with the trumpets.

5. அவர்கள் அந்தக் கொம்புகளினால் நெடுந்தொனி இடும்போதும், நீங்கள் எக்காள சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கும்போதும், ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் மகா ஆரவாரத்தோடே ஆர்ப்பரிக்கக்கடவர்கள்; அப்பொழுது பட்டணத்தின் அலங்கம் இடிந்துவிழும்; உடனே ஜனங்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு நேராக ஏறக்கடவர்கள் என்றார்.

5. And when they make a long blast with the rammes horne, and ye heare the sounde of the horne, all the people shall shout with a great shout: And then shall the wall of the citie fall downe, and the people shall assende vp, euery man strayght before hym.

6. அந்தப்படியே நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவா ஆசாரியரை அழைத்து: உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போங்கள்; தொனிக்கும் ஏழு எக்காளங்களையும் ஏழு ஆசாரியர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு போகக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லி;

6. And Iosuah the sonne of Nun, called the priestes, and sayde vnto them: Take vp the arke of the couenaunt, and let seuen priestes beare seuen trumpets of rammes hornes before the arke of the Lorde.

7. ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: பட்டணத்தைச் சுற்றி நடந்துபோங்கள்; யுத்தசன்னத்தரானவர்கள் கர்த்தரின் பெட்டிக்குமுன் நடக்கக்கடவர்கள் என்றான்.

7. And he sayde vnto the people: Go, and compasse the citie, & let hym that is harnessed go before ye arke of the Lord.

8. யோசுவா ஜனங்களிடத்தில் பேசினவுடனே, தொனிக்கும் ஏழு எக்காளங்களைப் பிடித்திருக்கிற ஏழு ஆசாரியர் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நடந்து எக்காளங்களை ஊதினார்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப்பெட்டி அவர்களுக்குப் பின் சென்றது.

8. And when Iosuah had spoken vnto ye people, the seuen priestes bare the seuen trumpets of rammes hornes, and went foorth before the arke of the Lorde, and blewe with the trumpets: and the arke of the couenaunt of the Lorde folowed them.

9. எக்காளங்களை ஊதுகிற ஆசாரியருக்குமுன் யுத்தசன்னத்தரானவர்கள் நடந்தார்கள்; பின்தண்டு எக்காளங்கள் ஊதப்படும்போது பெட்டிக்குப் பின் சென்றது.

9. And the men of armes went before the priestes that blewe with the trumpets: & the gatheryng hoast came after the arke as they went, and blewe with trumpets.

10. யோசுவா ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: நான் சொல்லும் நாள்மட்டும், நீங்கள் ஆர்ப்பரியாமலும் உங்கள் வாயினால் சத்தங்காட்டாமலும் இருங்கள்; உங்கள் வாயிலிருந்து ஒரு பேச்சும் புறப்படவேண்டாம்; ஆர்ப்பரியுங்கள் என்று உங்களுக்கு நான் சொல்லும் நாளிலே ஆர்ப்பரிப்பீர்களாக என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.

10. And Iosuah had commaunded the people, saying: Ye shall not shout, nor make any noyse with your voyce, neither shall any worde proceede out of your mouth vntyll the day I byd you shout, then shall ye shout.

11. அப்படியே கர்த்தரின் பெட்டியைப் பட்டணத்தைச் சூழ்ந்து ஒருதரம் சுற்றிவரப்பண்ணினான்; அவர்கள் திரும்பப் பாளயத்திலே வந்து, பாளயத்தில் இராத்தங்கினார்கள்.

11. And so the arke of the Lorde compassed the citie, and went about it once: and they returned into the hoast, and lodged there.

12. யோசுவா அதிகாலமே எழுந்திருந்தான்; ஆசாரியர்கள் கர்த்தரின் பெட்டியைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு போனார்கள்.

12. And Iosuah rose early in the mornyng, and the priestes toke vp the arke of the Lorde.

13. தொனிக்கும் ஏழு எக்காளங்களைப் பிடிக்கிற ஏழு ஆசாரியர்களும் எக்காளங்களை ஊதிக்கொண்டே கர்த்தரின் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தார்கள்; யுத்தசன்னத்தரானவர்கள் அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாலே நடந்தார்கள்; பின்தண்டோவெனில் எக்காளங்கள் ஊதப்படுகையில், கர்த்தரின் பெட்டிக்குப் பின்சென்றது.

13. And seuen priestes bare seuen trumpettes of rammes hornes, and went before the arke of the Lorde: and goyng, blewe with the trumpettes. And the men of armes went before them: but the gatheryng hoast came after the arke of the Lorde, whiche went before with the blowyng of the trumpettes.

14. இரண்டாம் நாளிலும் பட்டணத்தை ஒருதரம் சுற்றிவந்து, பாளயத்துக்குத் திரும்பினார்கள்; இந்தப்படி ஆறுநாளும் செய்தார்கள்.

14. And the seconde daye they passed the citie once, and returned againe into the hoast: and so they dyd sixe dayes.

15. ஏழாம் நாளில், அதிகாலமே கிழக்கு வெளுக்கும்போது எழுந்திருந்து அந்தப் பிரகாரமே பட்டணத்தை ஏழுதரம் சுற்றிவந்தார்கள்; அன்றையத்தினத்தில் மாத்திரம் பட்டணத்தை ஏழுதரம் சுற்றிவந்தார்கள்.

15. And when the seuenth day came, they rose early [euen] with the dawnyng of the day, & compassed the citie after the same maner seuen tymes: only that day they compassed the citie seue times.

16. ஏழாந்தரம் ஆசாரியர் எக்காளங்களை ஊதுகையில், யோசுவா ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: ஆர்ப்பரியுங்கள், பட்டணத்தைக் கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

16. And at the seuenth tyme when the priestes blew with the trumpettes, Iosuah sayde vnto the people: Showt, for the Lorde hath geuen you the citie.

17. ஆனாலும் இந்தப் பட்டணமும் இதிலுள்ள யாவும் கர்த்தருக்குச் சாபத்தீடாயிருக்கும்; நாம் அனுப்பின ஆட்களை ராகாப் என்னும் வேசி மறைத்துவைத்தபடியால், அவளும் அவளோடே வீட்டுக்குள் இருக்கிற அனைவரும் மாத்திரம் உயிரோடிருக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

17. And the citie shalbe accursed and al that are therin, vnto the Lorde: onlye Rahab the harlot shal liue, and all that are with her in the house, because she hyd the messengers that we sent.

18. சாபத்தீடானதில் ஏதாகிலும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதினாலே, நீங்கள் சாபத்தீடாகாதபடிக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் பாளயத்தைச் சாபத்தீடாக்கி அதைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணாதபடிக்கும், நீங்கள் சாபத்தீடானதற்கு மாத்திரம் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்.

18. And in any wyse be ye ware of the accursed thinges, lest ye make your selues accursed, & take of the accursed thynges, and make the hoast of Israel accursed, and trouble it.

19. சகல வெள்ளியும், பொன்னும், வெண்கலத்தினாலும் இரும்பினாலும் செய்யப்பட்ட பாத்திரங்களும், கர்த்தருக்குப் பரிசுத்தமானவைகள்; அவைகள் கர்த்தரின் பொக்கிஷத்தில் சேரும் என்றான்.

19. But all the syluer, golde, vesselles of brasse and iron, shalbe consecrate vnto the Lorde, and all shall come into his treasurie.

20. எக்காளங்களை ஊதுகையில், ஜனங்கள் ஆர்ப்பரித்தார்கள்; எக்காள சத்தத்தை ஜனங்கள் கேட்டு, மகா ஆரவாரத்தோடே முழங்குகையில், அலங்கம் இடிந்து விழுந்தது; உடனே ஜனங்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு நேராகப் பட்டணத்தில் ஏறி, பட்டணத்தைப் பிடித்து,

20. And the people showted, and blewe with trumpettes: And when the people heard the sound of the trumpe, they showted with a great showt, and the wall fell downe flat, so that the people went vp into ye citie, euery man straight before hym, and toke the citie:

21. பட்டணத்திலிருந்த புருஷரையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் வாலிபரையும் கிழவரையும் ஆடுமாடுகளையும் கழுதைகளையும் சகலத்தையும் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் சங்காரம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

21. And they vtterly destroyed all that was in the citie, both man and woman, young and olde, oxe, sheepe, and asse, with the edge of the sworde.

22. யோசுவா, தேசத்தை வேவுபார்த்த இரண்டு புருஷரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் அந்த வேசியின் வீட்டிலே போய், நீங்கள் அவளுக்கு ஆணையிட்டபடி அந்த ஸ்திரீயையும் அவளுக்கு உண்டான யாவையும் அங்கேயிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்.

22. But Iosuah had sayde vnto the two men that had spyed out the countrey: Go into the harlottes house, and bryng out thence the woman and all that she hath, as ye sware vnto her.

23. அப்பொழுது வேவுகாரரான அந்த வாலிபர் உள்ளே போய், ராகாபையும் அவள் தகப்பனையும், அவள் தாயையும், சகோதரர்களையும், அவளுக்குள்ள யாவையும் அவள் குடும்பத்தார் அனைவரையும் வெளியே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து, அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேல் பாளயத்துக்குப் புறம்பே இருக்கும்படி பண்ணினார்கள்.

23. And the young men that were spyes, went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father and mother, & her brethren, and all that she had: and they brought out all her kynred, & put them without the hoast of Israel.

24. பட்டணத்தையும் அதிலுள்ள யாவையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தார்கள்; வெள்ளியையும், பொன்னையும், வெண்கலத்தினாலும், இரும்பினாலும் செய்த பாத்திரங்களையும் மாத்திரம் கர்த்தரின் ஆலயப்பொக்கிஷத்தில் சேர்த்தார்கள்.

24. And they burnt the citie with fire, and all that was therin: only the syluer and the golde, the vesselles of brasse & iron, they put vnto ye treasure of the house of the Lorde.

25. எரிகோவை வேவுபார்க்க யோசுவா அனுப்பின ஆட்களை ராகாப் என்னும் வேசி மறைத்துவைத்தபடியினால், அவளையும் அவள் தகப்பன் வீட்டாரையும் அவளுக்குள்ள யாவையும் யோசுவா உயிரோடே வைத்தான்; அவள் இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் இஸ்ரவேலின் நடுவிலே குடியிருக்கிறாள்.

25. And Iosuah saued Rahab the harlot, and her fathers household, and all that she had: and she dwelt in Israel euen vnto this day, because she hyd the messengers which Iosuah sent to spye out Iericho.

26. அக்காலத்திலே யோசுவா: இந்த எரிகோ பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டும்படி எழும்பும் மனுஷன் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகச் சபிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கக்கடவன்; அவன் அதின் அஸ்திபாரத்தைப் போடுகிறபோது தன் மூத்த குமாரனையும், அதின் வாசல்களை வைக்கிறபோது தன் இளைய குமாரனையும் சாகக் கொடுக்கக்கடவன் என்று சாபம் கூறினான்.

26. And Iosuah sware at that tyme, saying: Cursed be the man before the Lord that ryseth vp, and buyldeth this citie Iericho: He shall lay the foundation thereof in his eldest sonne, and in his youngest sonne shall he set vp the gates of it.

27. இவ்விதமாய்க் கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவோடேகூட இருந்தார்; அவன் கீர்த்தி தேசமெங்கும் பரம்பிற்று.

27. And so the Lorde was with Iosuah, and his fame was noysed throughout all landes.
