1. நீங்கள் பிழைத்துப் பெருகி, கர்த்தர் உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திலே பிரவேசித்து, அதைச் சுதந்தரிக்கும்படி நான் இன்று உங்களுக்கு விதிக்கிற எல்லாக் கட்டளைகளின்படியும் செய்யச் சாவதானமாயிருப்பீர்களாக.

1. 'All the [mitzvot] I am giving you today you are to take care to obey, so that you will live, increase your numbers, enter and take possession of the land ADONAI swore about to your ancestors.

2. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தும்படிக்கும், தம்முடைய கட்டளைகளை நீ கைக்கொள்வாயோ கைக்கொள்ளமாட்டாயோ என்று அவர் உன்னைச் சோதித்து, உன் இருதயத்திலுள்ளதை நீ அறியும்படிக்கும், உன்னை இந்த நாற்பது வருஷமளவும் வனாந்தரத்திலே நடத்திவந்த எல்லா வழியையும் நினைப்பாயாக.

2. You are to remember everything of the way in which ADONAI led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart- whether you would obey his [mitzvot] or not.

3. அவர் உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தி, உன்னைப் பசியினால் வருத்தி, மனுஷன் அப்பத்தினால் மாத்திரம் அல்ல, கர்த்தருடைய வாயிலிருந்து புறப்படுகிற ஒவ்வொரு வார்த்தையினாலும் பிழைப்பான் என்பதை உனக்கு உணர்த்தும்படிக்கு, நீயும் உன் பிதாக்களும் அறியாதிருந்த மன்னாவினால் உன்னைப் போஷித்தார்.

3. He humbled you, allowing you to become hungry, and then fed you with [man], which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that a person does not live on food alone but on everything that comes from the mouth of ADONAI.

4. இந்த நாற்பது வருஷமும் உன்மேலிருந்த வஸ்திரம் பழையதாகப் போகவும் இல்லை, உன் கால் வீங்கவும் இல்லை.

4. During these forty years the clothing you were wearing didn't grow old, and your feet didn't swell up.

5. ஒருவன் தன் புத்திரனைச் சிட்சிக்கிறதுபோல உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னைச் சிட்சிக்கிறார் என்று நீ உன் இருதயத்தில் அறிந்துகொள்வாயாக.

5. Think deeply about it: ADONAI was disciplining you, just as a man disciplines his child.

6. ஆகையால், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய வழிகளில் நடந்து, அவருக்குப் பயப்படும்படிக்கு, அவருடைய கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளக்கடவாய்.

6. So obey the [mitzvot] of ADONAI your God, living as he directs and fearing him.

7. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னை நல்ல தேசத்திலே பிரவேசிக்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்; அது பள்ளத்தாக்குகளிலும் மலைகளிலுமிருந்து புறப்படுகிற ஆறுகளும் ஊற்றுகளும் ஏரிகளுமுள்ள தேசம்;

7. For ADONAI your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams, springs and water welling up from the depths in valleys and on hillsides.

8. அது கோதுமையும் வாற்கோதுமையும் திராட்சச்செடிகளும் அத்திமரங்களும் மாதளஞ்செடிகளுமுள்ள தேசம்; அது ஒலிவமரங்களும், எண்ணெயும் தேனுமுள்ள தேசம்;

8. It is a land of wheat and barley, grapevines, fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey;

9. அது தாழ்ச்சியில்லாமல் அப்பம் புசிக்கத்தக்கதும் ஒன்றும் உனக்குக் குறைவுபடாததுமான தேசம்; அது கல்லுகள் இரும்பாயிருக்கிறதும், செம்பு வெட்டி எடுக்கத்தக்க மலைகளுள்ளதுமான தேசம்.

9. a land where you will eat food in abundance and lack nothing in it; a land where the stones contain iron and the hills can be mined for copper.

10. ஆகையால், நீ புசித்துத் திருப்தியடைந்திருக்கையில், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுத்த அந்த நல்ல தேசத்துக்காக அவரை ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கக்கடவாய்.

10. So you will eat and be satisfied, and you will bless ADONAI your God for the good land he has given you.

11. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை மறவாதபடிக்கும், நான் இன்று உனக்கு விதிக்கிற அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளாமற் போகாதபடிக்கும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு.

11. 'Be careful not to forget ADONAI your God by not obeying his [mitzvot], rulings and regulations that I am giving you today.

12. நீ புசித்துத் திருப்தியாகி, நல்ல வீடுகளைக்கட்டி, அவைகளில் குடியிருக்கும்போதும்,

12. Otherwise, after you have eaten and are satisfied, built fine houses and lived in them,

13. உன் ஆடுமாடுகள் திரட்சியாகி, உனக்கு வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும் பெருகி, உனக்கு உண்டானவையெல்லாம் வர்த்திக்கும்போதும்,

13. and increased your herds, flocks, silver, gold and everything else you own,

14. உன் இருதயம் மேட்டிமையடையாமலும், உன்னை அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினவரும்,

14. you will become proud-hearted. Forgetting ADONAI your God- who brought you out of the land of Egypt, where you lived as slaves;

15. உன்னுடைய பின்நாட்களில் உனக்கு நன்மை செய்யும்பொருட்டு, உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தி, உன்னைச் சோதித்து, கொள்ளிவாய்ச் சர்ப்பங்களும் தேள்களும், தண்ணீரில்லாத வறட்சியுமுள்ள பயங்கரமான பெரிய வனாந்தரவழியாய் உன்னை அழைத்துவந்தவரும், உனக்காகப் பாறையான கன்மலையிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் புறப்படப்பண்ணினவரும்,

15. who led you through the vast and fearsome desert, with its poisonous snakes, scorpions and waterless, thirsty ground; who brought water out of flint rock for you;

16. உன் பிதாக்கள் அறியாத மன்னாவினால் வனாந்தரத்திலே உன்னைப் போஷித்துவந்தவருமான உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நீ மறவாமலும்,

16. who fed you in the desert with [man], unknown to your ancestors; all the while humbling and testing you in order to do you good in the end-

17. என் சாமர்த்தியமும் என் கைப்பெலனும் இந்த ஐசுவரியத்தை எனக்குச் சம்பாதித்தது என்று நீ உன் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லிக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருக்க எச்சரிக்கையாயிருந்து,

17. you will think to yourself, 'My own power and the strength of my own hand have gotten me this wealth.'

18. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நினைப்பாயாக; அவரே உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்த தம்முடைய உடன்படிக்கையை உறுதிப்படுத்தும்படி, இந்நாளில் உனக்கு உண்டாயிருக்கிறதுபோல, ஐசுவரியத்தைச் சம்பாதிக்கிறதற்கான பெலனை உனக்குக் கொடுக்கிறவர்.

18. No, you are to remember ADONAI your God, because it is he who is giving you the power to get wealth, in order to confirm his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as is happening even today.

19. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நீ மறந்து, வேறே தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றி அவர்களைச் சேவித்து, அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்வாயானால், நிச்சயமாய் அழிந்துபோவீர்கள் என்று இன்று உங்களுக்குச் சாட்சியாய் அறிவிக்கிறேன்.

19. If you forget ADONAI your God, follow other gods and serve and worship them, I am warning you in advance today that you will certainly perish.

20. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்கு நீங்கள் கீழ்ப்படியாமற்போவதினால், கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழித்த ஜாதிகளைப்போல நீங்களும் அழிவீர்கள்.

20. You will perish just like the nations that ADONAI is causing to perish ahead of you, because you will not have heeded the voice of ADONAI your God.'
