1. சவுல் என்பவன் இன்னும் கர்த்தருடைய சீஷரைப் பயமுறுத்திக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி சீறிப் பிரதான ஆசாரியரிடத்திற்குப் போய்;

1. All this time Saul was breathing down the necks of the Master's disciples, out for the kill. He went to the Chief Priest

2. இந்த மார்க்கத்தாராகிய புருஷரையாகிலும் ஸ்திரீகளையாகிலும் தான் கண்டுபிடித்தால், அவர்களைக் கட்டி எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள ஜெபஆலயங்களுக்கு நிருபங்களைக் கேட்டு வாங்கினான்.

2. and got arrest warrants to take to the meeting places in Damascus so that if he found anyone there belonging to the Way, whether men or women, he could arrest them and bring them to Jerusalem.

3. அவன் பிரயாணமாய்ப் போய், தமஸ்குவுக்குச் சமீபித்தபோது, சடிதியிலே வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு ஒளி அவனைச் சுற்றிப் பிரகாசித்தது;

3. He set off. When he got to the outskirts of Damascus, he was suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light.

4. அவன் தரையிலே விழுந்தான். அப்பொழுது: சவுலே, சவுலே, நீ என்னை ஏன் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறாய் என்று தன்னுடனே சொல்லுகிற ஒரு சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டான்.

4. As he fell to the ground, he heard a voice: 'Saul, Saul, why are you out to get me?'

5. அதற்கு அவன்: ஆண்டவரே, நீர் யார், என்றான். அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: நீ துன்பப்படுத்துகிற இயேசு நானே; முள்ளில் உதைக்கிறது உனக்குக் கடினமாம் என்றார்.

5. He said, 'Who are you, Master?' 'I am Jesus, the One you're hunting down.

6. அவன் நடுங்கித் திகைத்து: ஆண்டவரே, நான் என்ன செய்யச் சித்தமாயிருக்கிறீர் என்றான். அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: நீ எழுந்து, பட்டணத்துக்குள்ளே போ, நீ செய்யவேண்டியது அங்கே உனக்குச் சொல்லப்படும் என்றார்.

6. I want you to get up and enter the city. In the city you'll be told what to do next.'

7. அவனுடனேகூடப் பிரயாணம்பண்ணின மனுஷர்கள் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டும் ஒருவரையும் காணாமல் பிரமித்து நின்றார்கள்.

7. His companions stood there dumbstruck--they could hear the sound, but couldn't see anyone--

8. சவுல் தரையிலிருந்தெழுந்து, தன் கண்களைத் திறந்தபோது ஒருவரையும் காணவில்லை. அப்பொழுது கைலாகு கொடுத்து, அவனைத் தமஸ்குவுக்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

8. while Saul, picking himself up off the ground, found himself stone blind. They had to take him by the hand and lead him into Damascus.

9. அவன் மூன்று நாள் பார்வையில்லாதவனாய்ப் புசியாமலும் குடியாமலும் இருந்தான்.

9. He continued blind for three days. He ate nothing, drank nothing.

10. தமஸ்குவிலே அனனியா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு சீஷன் இருந்தான். அவனுக்குக் கர்த்தர் தரிசனமாகி: அனனியாவே, என்றார். அவன்: ஆண்டவரே, இதோ, அடியேன் என்றான்.

10. There was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: 'Ananias.' 'Yes, Master?' he answered.

11. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: நீ எழுந்து நேர்த்தெருவு என்னப்பட்ட தெருவுக்குப்போய், யூதாவின் வீட்டிலே தர்சுபட்டணத்தானாகிய சவுல் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒருவனைத் தேடு; அவன் இப்பொழுது ஜெபம்பண்ணுகிறான்;

11. 'Get up and go over to Straight Avenue. Ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus. His name is Saul. He's there praying.

12. அனனியா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் தன்னிடத்தில் வரவும், தான் பார்வையடையும்படி தன்மேல் கைவைக்கவும் தரிசனங்கண்டான் என்றார்.

12. He has just had a dream in which he saw a man named Ananias enter the house and lay hands on him so he could see again.'

13. அதற்கு அனனியா: ஆண்டவரே, இந்த மனுஷன் எருசலேமிலுள்ள உம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவான்களுக்கு எத்தனையோ பொல்லாங்குகளைச் செய்தானென்று அவனைக்குறித்து அநேகரால் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்.

13. Ananias protested, 'Master, you can't be serious. Everybody's talking about this man and the terrible things he's been doing, his reign of terror against your people in Jerusalem!

14. இங்கேயும் உம்முடைய நாமத்தைத் தொழுதுகொள்ளுகிற யாவரையுங்கட்டும்படி அவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களால் அதிகாரம் பெற்றிருக்கிறானே என்றான்.

14. And now he's shown up here with papers from the Chief Priest that give him license to do the same to us.'

15. அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: நீ போ; அவன் புறஜாதிகளுக்கும், ராஜாக்களுக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கும் என்னுடைய நாமத்தை அறிவிக்கிறதற்காக நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட பாத்திரமாயிருக்கிறான்.

15. But the Master said, 'Don't argue. Go! I have picked him as my personal representative to Gentiles and kings and Jews.

16. அவன் என்னுடைய நாமத்தினிமித்தம் எவ்வளவாய்ப் பாடுபடவேண்டுமென்பதை நான் அவனுக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்றார்.

16. And now I'm about to show him what he's in for--the hard suffering that goes with this job.'

17. அப்பொழுது அனனியா போய், வீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசித்து, அவன்மேல் கையை வைத்து: சகோதரனாகிய சவுலே, நீ வந்த வழியிலே உனக்குத் தரிசனமான இயேசுவாகிய கர்த்தர், நீ பார்வையடையும்படிக்கும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலே நிரப்பப்படும்படிக்கும் என்னை அனுப்பினார் என்றான்.

17. So Ananias went and found the house, placed his hands on blind Saul, and said, 'Brother Saul, the Master sent me, the same Jesus you saw on your way here. He sent me so you could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.'

18. உடனே அவன் கண்களிலிருந்து மீன் செதிள்கள் போன்றவைகள் விழுந்தது. அவன் பார்வையடைந்து, எழுந்திருந்து, ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றான்.

18. No sooner were the words out of his mouth than something like scales fell from Saul's eyes--he could see again! He got to his feet, was baptized,

19. பின்பு அவன் போஜனம்பண்ணிப் பலப்பட்டான். சவுல் தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள சீஷருடனே சிலநாள் இருந்து,

19. and sat down with them to a hearty meal. Saul spent a few days getting acquainted with the Damascus disciples,

20. தாமதமின்றி, கிறிஸ்து தேவனுடைய குமாரனென்று ஆலயங்களிலே பிரசங்கித்தான்.

20. but then went right to work, wasting no time, preaching in the meeting places that this Jesus was the Son of God.

21. கேட்டவர்களெல்லாரும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: எருசலேமில் இந்த நாமத்தைத் தொழுது கொள்ளுகிறவர்களை நாசமாக்கி, இங்கேயும் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களைக் கட்டிப் பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி வந்தவன் இவனல்லவா என்றார்கள்.

21. They were caught off guard by this and, not at all sure they could trust him, they kept saying, 'Isn't this the man who wreaked havoc in Jerusalem among the believers? And didn't he come here to do the same thing--arrest us and drag us off to jail in Jerusalem for sentencing by the high priests?'

22. சவுல் அதிகமாகத் திடன்கொண்டு, இவரே கிறிஸ்துவென்று திருஷ்டாந்தப்படுத்தி, தமஸ்குவில் குடியிருக்கிற யூதர்களைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணினான்.

22. But their suspicions didn't slow Saul down for even a minute. His momentum was up now and he plowed straight into the opposition, disarming the Damascus Jews and trying to show them that this Jesus was the Messiah.

23. அநேகநாள் சென்றபின்பு, யூதர்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி ஆலோசனைபண்ணினார்கள்.

23. After this had gone on quite a long time, some Jews conspired to kill him,

24. அவர்களுடைய யோசனை சவுலுக்குத் தெரியவந்தது. அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவர்கள் இரவும் பகலும் கோட்டைவாசல்களைக் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

24. but Saul got wind of it. They were watching the city gates around the clock so they could kill him.

25. சீஷர்கள் இராத்திரியிலே அவனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், ஒரு கூடையிலே வைத்து, மதில்வழியாய் இறக்கிவிட்டார்கள்.

25. Then one night the disciples engineered his escape by lowering him over the wall in a basket.

26. சவுல் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து, சீஷருடனே சேர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பார்த்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனைச் சீஷனென்று நம்பாமல் எல்லாரும் அவனுக்குப் பயந்திருந்தார்கள்.

26. Back in Jerusalem he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him. They didn't trust him one bit.

27. அப்பொழுது பர்னபா என்பவன் அவனைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, அப்போஸ்தலரிடத்தில் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், வழியிலே அவன் கர்த்தரைக் கண்டவிதத்தையும், அவர் அவனுடனே பேசினதையும், தமஸ்குவில் அவன் இயேசுவின் நாமத்தினாலே தைரியமாய்ப் பிரசங்கித்ததையும் அவர்களுக்கு விவரித்துச் சொன்னான்.

27. Then Barnabas took him under his wing. He introduced him to the apostles and stood up for him, told them how Saul had seen and spoken to the Master on the Damascus Road and how in Damascus itself he had laid his life on the line with his bold preaching in Jesus' name.

28. அதன்பின்பு அவன் எருசலேமிலே அவர்களிடத்தில் போக்கும் வரத்துமாயிருந்து;

28. After that he was accepted as one of them, going in and out of Jerusalem with no questions asked, uninhibited as he preached in the Master's name.

29. கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் நாமத்தினாலே தைரியமாய்ப் பிரசங்கித்து, கிரேக்கருடனே பேசித் தர்க்கித்தான்; அவர்களோ அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய எத்தனம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

29. But then he ran afoul of a group called Hellenists--he had been engaged in a running argument with them--who plotted his murder.

30. சகோதரர் அதை அறிந்து, அவனைச் செசரியாவுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், தர்சுவுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டார்கள்.

30. When his friends learned of the plot, they got him out of town, took him to Caesarea, and then shipped him off to Tarsus.

31. அப்பொழுது யூதேயா கலிலேயா சமாரியா நாடுகளிலெங்கும் சபைகள் சமாதானம் பெற்று, பக்திவிருத்தியடைந்து, கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிற பயத்தோடும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியின் ஆறுதலோடும் நடந்து பெருகின.

31. Things calmed down after that and the church had smooth sailing for a while. All over the country--Judea, Samaria, Galilee--the church grew. They were permeated with a deep sense of reverence for God. The Holy Spirit was with them, strengthening them. They prospered wonderfully.

32. பேதுரு போய் எல்லாரையும் சந்தித்துவருகையில், அவன் லித்தா ஊரிலே குடியிருக்கிற பரிசுத்தவான்களிடத்திற்கும் போனான்.

32. Peter went off on a mission to visit all the churches. In the course of his travels he arrived in Lydda and met with the believers there.

33. அங்கே எட்டு வருஷமாய்க் கட்டிலின்மேல் திமிர்வாதமுள்ளவனாய்க்கிடந்த ஐனேயா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனுஷனைக் கண்டான்.

33. He came across a man--his name was Aeneas--who had been in bed eight years paralyzed.

34. பேதுரு அவனைப் பார்த்து: ஐனேயாவே, இயேசுகிறிஸ்து உன்னைக் குணமாக்குகிறார்; நீ எழுந்து, உன் படுக்கையை நீயே போட்டுக்கொள் என்றான். உடனே அவன் எழுந்திருந்தான்.

34. Peter said, 'Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed!' And he did it--jumped right out of bed.

35. லித்தாவிலும் சாரோனிலும் குடியிருந்தவர்களெல்லாரும் அவனைக் கண்டு, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் திரும்பினார்கள்.

35. Everybody who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him walking around and woke up to the fact that God was alive and active among them.

36. யோப்பா பட்டணத்தில் கிரேக்குப் பாஷையிலே தொற்காள் என்று அர்த்தங்கொள்ளும் தபீத்தாள் என்னும் பேருடைய ஒரு சீஷி இருந்தாள்; அவள் நற்கிரியைகளையும் தருமங்களையும் மிகுதியாய்ச் செய்துகொண்டுவந்தாள்.

36. Down the road a way in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, 'Gazelle' in our language. She was well-known for doing good and helping out.

37. அந்நாட்களில் அவள் வியாதிப்பட்டு மரணமடைந்தாள். அவளைக் குளிப்பாட்டி, மேல்வீட்டிலே கிடத்திவைத்தார்கள்.

37. During the time Peter was in the area she became sick and died. Her friends prepared her body for burial and put her in a cool room.

38. யோப்பா பட்டணம் லித்தா ஊருக்குச் சமீபமானபடியினாலே, பேதுரு அவ்விடத்தில் இருக்கிறானென்று சீஷர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு, தாமதமில்லாமல் தங்களிடத்தில் வரவேண்டுமென்று சொல்லும்படி இரண்டு மனுஷரை அவனிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினார்கள்.

38. Some of the disciples had heard that Peter was visiting in nearby Lydda and sent two men to ask if he would be so kind as to come over.

39. பேதுரு எழுந்து, அவர்களுடனே கூடப்போனான். அவன் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தபொழுது, அவர்கள் அவனை மேல்வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள். அப்பொழுது விதவைகளெல்லாரும் அழுது, தொற்காள் தங்களுடனேகூட இருக்கையில் செய்திருந்த அங்கிகளையும் வஸ்திரங்களையும் காண்பித்து, அவனைச் சூழ்ந்துநின்றார்கள்.

39. Peter got right up and went with them. They took him into the room where Tabitha's body was laid out. Her old friends, most of them widows, were in the room mourning. They showed Peter pieces of clothing the Gazelle had made while she was with them.

40. பேதுரு எல்லாரையும் வெளியே போகச்செய்து, முழங்காற்படியிட்டு ஜெபம்பண்ணி, பிரேதத்தின் புறமாய்த் திரும்பி: தபீத்தாளே, எழுந்திரு என்றான். அப்பொழுது அவள் தன் கண்களைத் திறந்து, பேதுருவைப் பார்த்து உட்கார்ந்தாள்.

40. Peter put the widows all out of the room. He knelt and prayed. Then he spoke directly to the body: 'Tabitha, get up.' She opened her eyes. When she saw Peter, she sat up.

41. அவன் அவளுக்குக் கைகொடுத்து, அவளை எழுந்திருக்கப்பண்ணி, பரிசுத்தவான்களையும் விதவைகளையும் அழைத்து, அவளை உயிருள்ளவளாக அவர்களுக்கு முன் நிறுத்தினான்.

41. He took her hand and helped her up. Then he called in the believers and widows, and presented her to them alive.

42. இது யோப்பா பட்டணம் எங்கும் தெரியவந்தது. அப்பொழுது அநேகர் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்.

42. When this became known all over Joppa, many put their trust in the Master.

43. பின்பு அவன் யோப்பா பட்டணத்திலே தோல் பதனிடுகிறவனாகிய சீமோன் என்னும் ஒருவனிடத்தில் அநேகநாள் தங்கியிருந்தான்.

43. Peter stayed on a long time in Joppa as a guest of Simon the Tanner.
