1. When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

2. அப்பொழுது பலத்த காற்று அடிக்கிற முழக்கம்போல, வானத்திலிருந்து சடிதியாய் ஒரு முழக்கமுண்டாகி, அவர்கள் உட்கார்ந்திருந்த வீடு முழுவதையும் நிரப்பிற்று.

2. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force--no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building.

3. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks,

4. and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them.

5. வானத்தின் கீழிருக்கிற சகல தேசத்தாரிலுமிருந்துவந்த தேவபக்தியுள்ள யூதர்கள் அப்பொழுது எருசலேமிலே வாசம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

5. There were many Jews staying in Jerusalem just then, devout pilgrims from all over the world.

6. When they heard the sound, they came on the run. Then when they heard, one after another, their own mother tongues being spoken, they were thunderstruck.

10. Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene; Immigrants from Rome,

11. கிரேத்தரும், அரபியருமாகிய நாம் நம்முடைய பாஷைகளிலே இவர்கள் தேவனுடைய மகத்துவங்களைப் பேசக்கேட்கிறோமே என்றார்கள்.

11. both Jews and proselytes; Even Cretans and Arabs! 'They're speaking our languages, describing God's mighty works!'

12. எல்லாரும் பிரமித்துச் சந்தேகப்பட்டு, இதென்னமாய் முடியுமோ என்று ஒருவரோடொருவர் சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

12. Their heads were spinning; they couldn't make head or tail of any of it. They talked back and forth, confused: 'What's going on here?'

13. Others joked, 'They're drunk on cheap wine.'

14. That's when Peter stood up and, backed by the other eleven, spoke out with bold urgency: 'Fellow Jews, all of you who are visiting Jerusalem, listen carefully and get this story straight.

15. These people aren't drunk as some of you suspect. They haven't had time to get drunk--it's only nine o'clock in the morning.

16. This is what the prophet Joel announced would happen:

20. கர்த்தருடைய பெரிதும் பிரகாசமுமான நாள் வருமுன்னே சூரியன் இருளாகவும், சந்திரன் இரத்தமாகவும் மாறும்.

20. the sun turning black and the moon blood-red, Before the Day of the Lord arrives, the Day tremendous and marvelous;

21. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தைத் தொழுதுகொள்ளுகிறவனெவனோ அவன் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவான் என்று தேவன் உரைத்திருக்கிறார்.

21. And whoever calls out for help to me, God, will be saved.'

22. இஸ்ரவேலரே, நான் சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேளுங்கள்; நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறபடி நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவைக்கொண்டு தேவன் உங்களுக்குள்ளே பலத்த செய்கைகளையும், அற்புதங்களையும், அடையாளங்களையும் நடப்பித்து, அவைகளினாலே அவரை உங்களுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

22. 'Fellow Israelites, listen carefully to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man thoroughly accredited by God to you--the miracles and wonders and signs that God did through him are common knowledge--

23. this Jesus, following the deliberate and well-thought-out plan of God, was betrayed by men who took the law into their own hands, and was handed over to you. And you pinned him to a cross and killed him.

24. But God untied the death ropes and raised him up. Death was no match for him.

25. David said it all: I saw God before me for all time. Nothing can shake me; he's right by my side.

27. I know you'll never dump me in Hades; I'll never even smell the stench of death.

28. You've got my feet on the life-path, with your face shining sun-joy all around.

29. சகோதரரே, கோத்திரத்தலைவனாகிய தாவீதைக்குறித்து நான் உங்களுடனே தைரியமாய்ப் பேசுகிறதற்கு இடங்கொடுங்கள்; அவன் மரணமடைந்து அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அவனுடைய கல்லறை இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் நம்மிடத்திலிருக்கிறது.

29. 'Dear friends, let me be completely frank with you. Our ancestor David is dead and buried--his tomb is in plain sight today.

30. But being also a prophet and knowing that God had solemnly sworn that a descendant of his would rule his kingdom,

31. seeing far ahead, he talked of the resurrection of the Messiah--'no trip to Hades, no stench of death.'

32. This Jesus, God raised up. And every one of us here is a witness to it.

33. அவர் தேவனுடைய வலதுகரத்தினாலே உயர்த்தப்பட்டு, பிதா அருளிய வாக்குத்தத்தின்படி பரிசுத்த ஆவியைப் பெற்று, நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது காண்கிறதும் கேட்கிறதுமாகிய இதைப் பொழிந்தருளினார்.

33. Then, raised to the heights at the right hand of God and receiving the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he poured out the Spirit he had just received. That is what you see and hear.

34. For David himself did not ascend to heaven, but he did say, God said to my Master, 'Sit at my right hand

35. Until I make your enemies a stool for resting your feet.'

36. 'All Israel, then, know this: There's no longer room for doubt--God made him Master and Messiah, this Jesus whom you killed on a cross.'

37. Cut to the quick, those who were there listening asked Peter and the other apostles, 'Brothers! Brothers! So now what do we do?'

38. Peter said, 'Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39. வாக்குத்தத்தமானது உங்களுக்கும், உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் வரவழைக்கும் தூரத்திலுள்ள யாவருக்கும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்று சொல்லி;

39. The promise is targeted to you and your children, but also to all who are far away--whomever, in fact, our Master God invites.'

40. He went on in this vein for a long time, urging them over and over, 'Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!'

41. அவனுடைய வார்த்தையைச் சந்தோஷமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவர்கள் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றார்கள். அன்றையத்தினம் ஏறக்குறைய மூவாயிரம்பேர் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டார்கள்.

41. That day about three thousand took him at his word, were baptized and were signed up.

42. அவர்கள் அப்போஸ்தலருடைய உபதேசத்திலும், அந்நியோந்நியத்திலும், அப்பம் பிட்குதலிலும், ஜெபம்பண்ணுதலிலும் உறுதியாய்த் தரித்திருந்தார்கள்.

42. They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.

43. எல்லாருக்கும் பயமுண்டாயிற்று. அப்போஸ்தலர்களாலே அநேக அற்புதங்களும் அடையாளங்களும் செய்யப்பட்டது.

43. Everyone around was in awe--all those wonders and signs done through the apostles!

44. விசுவாசிகளெல்லாரும் ஒருமித்திருந்து, சகலத்தையும் பொதுவாய் வைத்து அநுபவித்தார்கள்.

44. And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common.

45. காணியாட்சிகளையும் ஆஸ்திகளையும் விற்று, ஒவ்வொருவனுக்கும் தேவையானதற்குத்தக்கதாக அவைகளில் எல்லாருக்கும் பகிர்ந்துகொடுத்தார்கள்.

45. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person's need was met.

46. அவர்கள் ஒருமனப்பட்டவர்களாய் தேவாலயத்திலே அநுதினமும் தரித்திருந்து, வீடுகள்தோறும் அப்பம்பிட்டு மகிழ்ச்சியோடும் கபடமில்லாத இருதயத்தோடும் போஜனம்பண்ணி,

46. They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful,

47. தேவனைத் துதித்து, ஜனங்களெல்லாரிடத்திலும் தயவுபெற்றிருந்தார்கள். இரட்சிக்கப்படுகிறவர்களைக் கர்த்தர் அநுதினமும் சபையிலே சேர்த்துக்கொண்டுவந்தார்.

47. as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.
