1. யோசேப்பின் குமாரனாகிய மனாசேயின் குடும்பங்களில், மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் மகனான கிலெயாத்துக்குப் பிறந்த ஏபேருக்குப் புத்திரனாயிருந்த செலோப்பியாத்தின் குமாரத்திகளாகிய மக்லாள், நோவாள், ஒக்லாள், மில்காள், திர்சாள் என்பவர்கள் வந்து,

1. And the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hopher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, of the tribe of Mannasseh, of the sons of Joseph, came near; and these were their names, Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

2. ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரவாசலிலே மோசேக்கும், ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும், பிரபுக்களுக்கும், சபையனைத்திற்கும் முன்பாக நின்று:

2. And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and before all the congregation at the door of the tabernacle of witness, saying,

3. எங்கள் தகப்பன் வனாந்தரத்தில் மரணமடைந்தார்; அவர் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகக் கூடின கோராகின் கூட்டத்தாரில் சேர்ந்தவர் அல்ல, தம்முடைய பாவத்தினாலே மரித்தார்; அவருக்குக் குமாரர் இல்லை.

3. Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the midst of the congregation that rebelled against the Lord in the gathering of Korah; for he died for his own sin, and he had no sons. Let not the name of our father be blotted out of the midst of his people, because he has no son- give us an inheritance in the midst of our father's brethren.

4. எங்கள் தகப்பனுக்குக் குமாரன் இல்லாததினாலே, அவருடைய பேர் அவருடைய வம்சத்தில் இல்லாமல் அற்றுப்போகலாமா? எங்கள் தகப்பனுடைய சகோதரருக்குள்ளே எங்களுக்குக் காணியாட்சி கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

4. And Moses brought their case before the Lord.

5. மோசே அவர்களுடைய நியாயத்தைக் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டு போனான்.

5. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

6. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

6. The daughters of Zelophehad have spoken rightly: you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance in the midst of their father's brethren, and you shall assign their father's inheritance to them.

7. செலோபியாத்தின் குமாரத்திகள் சொல்லுகிறது சரிதான்; அவர்களுக்கு அவர்கள் தகப்பனுடைய சகோதரருக்குள்ளே சுதந்தரம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; அவர்கள் தகப்பன் பின்வைத்த சுதந்தரத்தை அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்படி செய்வாயாக.

7. And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying,

8. மேலும் நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை நோக்கி: ஒருவன் குமாரன் இல்லாமல் மரித்தால், அவனுக்குரிய சுதந்தரத்தை அவன் குமாரத்திக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

8. If a man die, and have no son, you shall assign his inheritance to his daughter.

9. அவனுக்குக் குமாரத்தியும் இல்லாதிருந்தால், அவனுக்குரிய சுதந்தரத்தை அவன் சகோதரருக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

9. And if he has no daughter, you shall give his inheritance to his brother.

10. அவனுக்குச் சகோதரரும் இல்லாதிருந்தால், அவனுக்குரிய சுதந்தரத்தை அவன் தகப்பனுடைய சகோதரருக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

10. And if he has no brother, you shall give his inheritance to his father's brother.

11. அவன் தகப்பனுக்குச் சகோதரர் இல்லாதிருந்தால், அவனுக்குரிய சுதந்தரத்தை அவன் வம்சத்திலே அவனுக்குக் கிட்டின உறவின் முறையானுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்; இது, கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு நியாயவிதிப்பிரமாணமாய் இருக்கக்கடவது என்று சொல் என்றார்.

11. And if there be no brother of his father, you shall give the inheritance to his nearest relation of his tribe, to inherit his possessions; and this shall be to the children of Israel an ordinance of judgment, as the Lord commanded Moses.

12. பின்பு கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: நீ இந்த அபாரீம் மலையில் ஏறி, நான் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தைப் பார்.

12. And the Lord said to Moses, Go up to the mountain that is in the country beyond the Jordan, this Mount Nebo, and behold the land of Canaan, which I shall give to the sons of Israel for a possession.

13. நீ அதைப் பார்த்தபின்பு, உன் சகோதரனாகிய ஆரோன் சேர்க்கப்பட்டது போல, நீயும் உன் ஜனத்தாரிடத்தில் சேர்க்கப்படுவாய்;

13. And you shall see it, and you also shall be added to your people, as Aaron your brother was added,

14. சபையார் வாக்குவாதம்பண்ணின சீன் வனாந்தரத்தில் தண்ணீருக்கடுத்த விஷயத்தில் அவர்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக என்னைப் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணவேண்டிய நீங்கள் என் கட்டளையை மீறினீர்களே என்றார். இது சீன் வனாந்தரத்தில் காதேஸ் ஊர் அருகே உண்டான மேரிபாவின் தண்ணீருக்கடுத்த காரியமே.

14. because you transgressed My commandment in the Wilderness of Zin, when the congregation refused to sanctify Me; you sanctified me not at the water before them. This is the water of Strife in Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.

15. அப்பொழுது மோசே கர்த்தரை நோக்கி:

15. And Moses said to the Lord,

16. கர்த்தருடைய சபை மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாத மந்தையைப்போல் இராதபடிக்கு,
எபிரேயர் 12:9

16. Let the Lord God of spirits and of all flesh look out for a man over this congregation,

17. அந்தச் சபைக்கு முன்பாகப் போக்கும் வரத்துமாய் இருக்கும்படிக்கும், அவர்களைப் போகவும் வரவும் பண்ணும்படிக்கும், மாம்சமான யாவருடைய ஆவிகளுக்கும் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஒரு புருஷனை அவர்கள்மேல் அதிகாரியாக ஏற்படுத்தவேண்டும் என்றான்.

17. who shall go out before them, and who shall come in before them, and who shall lead them out, and who shall bring them in; so the congregation of the Lord shall not be as sheep without a shepherd.

18. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: ஆவியைப் பெற்றிருக்கிற புருஷனாகிய யோசுவா என்னும் நூனின் குமாரனை நீ தெரிந்துகொண்டு, அவன்மேல் உன் கையை வைத்து,

18. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Take to yourself Joshua the son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and you shall lay your hands upon him.

19. அவனை ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும் சபையனைத்திற்கும் முன்பாக நிறுத்தி, அவர்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக அவனுக்குக் கட்டளைகொடுத்து,

19. And you shall set him before Eleazar the priest, and you shall give him a charge before all the congregation, and you shall give a charge concerning him before them.

20. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையார் எல்லாரும் அவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியும்படிக்கு, உன் கனத்தில் கொஞ்சம் அவனுக்குக் கொடு.

20. And you shall put of your glory upon him, that the children of Israel may hearken to him.

21. அவன் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கக்கடவன்; அவனிமித்தம் அந்த ஆசாரியன் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதானத்தில் வந்து, ஊரீம் என்னும் நியாயத்தினாலே ஆலோசனை கேட்கக்கடவன்; அவருடைய கட்டளையின்படியே, அவனும் அவனோடேகூட இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையார் எல்லாரும் போகவும் அவருடைய கட்டளையின்படியே வரவும் வேண்டியது என்றார்.

21. And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, and they shall ask of him before the Lord the judgment of the Urim. They shall go forth at his word, and at his word they shall come in, he and the children of Israel with one accord, and all the congregation.

22. மோசே தனக்குக் கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே யோசுவாவை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவனை ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும் சபையனைத்திற்கும் முன்பாக நிறுத்தி,

22. And Moses did as the Lord commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation.

23. அவன்மேல் தன் கைகளை வைத்து, கர்த்தர் தனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே அவனுக்குக் கட்டளைகொடுத்தான்.

23. And he laid his hands on him, and appointed him as the Lord ordered Moses.
