1. பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஏழு காளைகளையும் ஏழு ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும் இங்கே எனக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்தும் என்றான்.

1. And Balaam said to Balak, Make me here seven altars and get ready seven oxen and seven male sheep.

2. பிலேயாம் சொன்னபடியே பாலாக் செய்தான்; பாலாகும் பிலேயாமும் ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டார்கள்.

2. And Balak did as Balaam had said; and Balak and Balaam made an offering on every altar of an ox and a male sheep.

3. பின்பு பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையில் நில்லும், நான் போய்வருகிறேன்; கர்த்தர் வந்து என்னைச் சந்திக்கிறதாயிருக்கும்; அவர் எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்துவதை உமக்கு அறிவிப்பேன் என்று சொல்லி, ஒரு மேட்டின்மேல் ஏறினான்.

3. Then Balaam said to Balak, Take your place by your burned offering, and I will go and see if the Lord comes to me: and I will give you word of whatever he says to me. And he went to an open place on a hill.

4. தேவன் பிலேயாமைச் சந்தித்தார்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அவரை நோக்கி: நான் ஏழு பலிபீடங்களை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணி, ஒவ்வொரு பலிபீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டேன் என்றான்.

4. And God came to Balaam, and Balaam said to him, I have made ready seven altars, offering an ox and a male sheep on every altar.

5. கர்த்தர் பிலேயாமின் வாயிலே வாக்கு அருளி: நீ பாலாகினிடத்தில் திரும்பிப் போய், இவ்விதமாய்ச் சொல்லக்கடவாய் என்றார்.

5. And the Lord put words in Balaam's mouth, and said, Go back to Balak, and this is what you are to say.

6. அவனிடத்துக்கு அவன் திரும்பிப்போனான்; பாலாக் மோவாபுடைய சகல பிரபுக்களோடுங்கூட தன் சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையிலே நின்று கொண்டிருந்தான்.

6. So he went back to him where he was waiting by his burned offering with all the chiefs of Moab.

7. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: மோவாபின் ராஜாவாகிய பாலாக் என்னைக் கிழக்கு மலைகளிலுள்ள ஆராமிலிருந்து வரவழைத்து: நீ வந்து எனக்காக யாக்கோபைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும்; நீ வந்து இஸ்ரவேலை வெறுத்துவிடவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.

7. And in the words which the Lord had given him he said, From Aram Balak has sent for me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East: come, put curses on Jacob for me and be angry with Israel.

8. தேவன் சபிக்காதவனை நான் சபிப்பதெப்படி? கர்த்தர் வெறுக்காதவனை நான் வெறுப்பதெப்படி?

8. How may I put curses on him who is not cursed by God? how may I be angry with him with whom the Lord is not angry?

9. கன்மலையுச்சியிலிருந்து நான் அவனைக் கண்டு, குன்றுகளிலிருந்து அவனைப் பார்க்கிறேன்; அந்த ஜனங்கள் ஜாதிகளோடே கலவாமல் தனியே வாசமாயிருப்பார்கள்.

9. From the top of the rocks I see him, looking down on him from the hills: it is a people made separate, not to be numbered among the nations.

10. யாக்கோபின் தூளை எண்ணத்தக்கவன் யார்? இஸ்ரவேலின் காற்பங்கை எண்ணுகிறவன் யார்? நீதிமான் மரிப்பதுபோல் நான் மரிப்பேனாக, என் முடிவு அவன் முடிவுபோல் இருப்பதாக என்றான்.

10. Who is able to take the measure of the dust of Jacob or the number of the thousands of Israel? May my death be the death of the upright and my last end like his!

11. அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீர் எனக்கு என்ன செய்தீர்; என் சத்துருக்களைச் சபிக்கும்படி உம்மை அழைப்பித்தேன்; நீர் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவே ஆசீர்வதித்தீர் என்றான்.

11. Then Balak said to Balaam, What have you done to me? I sent for you so that my haters might be cursed, and see, you have given them a blessing.

12. அதற்கு அவன்: கர்த்தர் என் வாயில் அருளினதையே சொல்வது என் கடமையல்லவா என்றான்.

12. And in answer he said, Am I not ordered to say only what the Lord puts into my mouth?

13. பின்பு பாலாக் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் அவர்களைப் பார்க்கத்தக்க வேறொரு இடத்திற்கு என்னோடேகூட வாரும்; அங்கே அவர்கள் எல்லாரையும் பாராமல், அவர்களுடைய கடைசிப் பாளயத்தை மாத்திரம் பார்ப்பீர்; அங்கேயிருந்து எனக்காக அவர்களைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லி,

13. And Balak said to him, Come with me now into another place from which you will not be able to see them all, but only the outskirts of them; and you will send curses on them from there.

14. அவனைப் பிஸ்காவின் கொடுமுடியில் இருக்கிற சோப்பீமின் வெளியிலே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டான்.

14. So he took him into the country of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and there they made seven altars, offering an ox and a male sheep on every altar.

15. அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: இங்கே உம்முடைய சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையில் நில்லும்; நான் அங்கே போய்க் கர்த்தரைச் சந்தித்துவருகிறேன் என்றான்.

15. Then he said to Balak, Take your place here by your burned offering, while I go over there to the Lord.

16. கர்த்தர் பிலேயாமைச் சந்தித்து, அவன் வாயிலே வசனத்தை அருளி; நீ பாலாகினிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், இவ்விதமாய்ச் சொல்லக்கடவாய் என்றார்.

16. And the Lord came to Balaam, and put words in his mouth, and said, Go back to Balak, and this is what you are to say.

17. அவனிடத்திற்கு அவன் வருகிறபோது, அவன் மோவாபின் பிரபுக்களோடுங்கூடத் தன்னுடைய சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையிலே நின்று கொண்டிருந்தான்; பாலாக் அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் என்ன சொன்னார் என்று கேட்டான்.

17. So he came to him where he was waiting by his burned offering with the chiefs of Moab by his side. And Balak said to him, What has the Lord said?

18. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: பாலாகே, எழுந்திருந்து கேளும்; சிப்போரின் குமாரனே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடும்.

18. And in the words which the Lord had given him he said, Up! Balak, and give ear; give attention to me, O son of Zippor:

19. பொய் சொல்ல தேவன் ஒரு மனிதன் அல்ல; மனம்மாற அவர் ஒரு மனுபுத்திரனும் அல்ல; அவர் சொல்லியும் செய்யாதிருப்பாரா? அவர் வசனித்தும் நிறைவேற்றாதிருப்பாரா?

19. God is not a man, to say what is false; or the son of man, that his purpose may be changed: what he has said, will he not do? and will he not give effect to the words of his mouth?

20. இதோ, ஆசீர்வதிக்கக் கட்டளைபெற்றேன்; அவர் ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார், அதை நான் திருப்பக்கூடாது.

20. See, I have had orders to give blessing: and he has given a blessing which I have no power to take away.

21. அவர் யாக்கோபிலே அக்கிரமத்தைக் காண்கிறதும் இல்லை, இஸ்ரவேலிலே குற்றம் பார்க்கிறதும் இல்லை; அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களோடே இருக்கிறார்; ராஜாவின் ஜயகெம்பீரம் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே இருக்கிறது.

21. He has seen no evil in Jacob or wrongdoing in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the glad cry of a king is among them.

22. தேவன் அவர்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்; காண்டாமிருகத்துக்கொத்த பெலன் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டு.

22. It is God who has taken them out of Egypt; his horns are like those of the mountain ox.

23. யாக்கோபுக்கு விரோதமான மந்திரவாதம் இல்லை, இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமான குறிசொல்லுதலும் இல்லை; தேவன் என்னென்ன செய்தார் என்று கொஞ்சக்காலத்திலே யாக்கோபையும் இஸ்ரவேலையும் குறித்துச் சொல்லப்படும்.

23. No evil power has effect against Jacob, no secret arts against Israel; at the right time it will be said of Jacob and of Israel, See what God has done!

24. அந்த ஜனம் துஷ்ட சிங்கம்போல எழும்பும், பால சிங்கம்போல நிமிர்ந்து நிற்கும்; அது தான் பிடித்த இரையைப்பட்சித்து, வெட்டுண்டவர்களின் இரத்தத்தைக் குடிக்குமட்டும் படுத்துக்கொள்வதில்லை என்றான்.

24. See, Israel comes up like a she-lion, lifting himself up like a lion: he will take no rest till he has made a meal of those he has overcome, drinking the blood of those he has put to death.

25. அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீர் அவர்களைச் சபிக்கவும் வேண்டாம், அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவும் வேண்டாம் என்றான்.

25. Then Balak said to Balaam, If you will not put a curse on them, at all events do not give them a blessing.

26. அதற்குப் பிலேயாம் பாலாகைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறபடியெல்லாம் செய்வேன் என்று உம்மோடே நான் சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.

26. But Balaam in answer said to Balak, Did I not say to you, I may only do what the Lord says?

27. அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: வாரும், வேறொரு இடத்திற்கு உம்மை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகிறேன்; நீர் அங்கேயிருந்தாவது எனக்காக அவர்களைச் சபிக்கிறது தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கும் என்று சொல்லி,

27. Then Balak said to Balaam, Come now, I will take you to another place; it may be that God will let you put a curse on them from there.

28. அவனை எஷிமோனுக்கு எதிராயிருக்கிற பேயோரின் கொடுமுடிக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போனான்.

28. So Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, looking down over the waste land.

29. அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு காளைகளையும் ஏழு ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணும் என்றான்.

29. And Balaam said to Balak, Make me seven altars here and get seven oxen and seven male sheep ready for me.

30. பிலேயாம் சொன்னபடி பாலாக் செய்து, ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டான்.

30. And Balak did as Balaam said, offering an ox and a male sheep on every altar.
