1. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் சபையார் எல்லாரும் முதலாம் மாதத்தில் சீன்வனாந்தரத்திலே சேர்ந்து, ஜனங்கள் காதேசிலே தங்கியிருக்கையில், மிரியாம் மரணமடைந்து, அங்கே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டாள்.

1. In the first month the whole community of Israel arrived at the Desert of Zin. They stayed at Kadesh. Miriam died there. Her body was also buried there.

2. ஜனங்களுக்குத் தண்ணீர் இல்லாதிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் மோசேக்கும் ஆரோனுக்கும் விரோதமாகக் கூட்டங்கூடினார்கள்.

2. The people didn't have any water. So they gathered together to oppose Moses and Aaron.

3. ஜனங்கள் மோசேயோடே வாக்குவாதம்பண்ணி: எங்கள் சகோதரர் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் மாண்டபோது நாங்களும் மாண்டுபோயிருந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

3. They argued with Moses. They said, 'We wish we had died when our people fell dead in front of the Lord.

4. நாங்களும் எங்கள் மிருகங்களும் இங்கே சாகும்படி, நீங்கள் கர்த்தரின் சபையை இந்த வனாந்தரத்திலே கொண்டு வந்தது என்ன;

4. 'Why did you bring the Lord's people into this desert? We and our livestock will die here.

5. விதைப்பும், அத்திமரமும், திராட்சச்செடியும், மாதளஞ்செடியும், குடிக்கத்தண்ணீரும் இல்லாத இந்தக் கெட்ட இடத்தில் எங்களைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, நீங்கள் எங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினது என்ன என்றார்கள்.

5. Why did you bring us up out of Egypt? Why did you bring us to this terrible place? It doesn't have any grain or figs. It doesn't have any grapes or pomegranates. There isn't even any water for us to drink!'

6. அப்பொழுது மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் சபையாரைவிட்டு, ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரவாசலில் போய், முகங்குப்புற விழுந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய மகிமை அவர்களுக்குக் காணப்பட்டது.

6. Moses and Aaron left the people. They went to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. There they fell with their faces to the ground. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to them.

7. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

7. The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,

8. நீ கோலை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, நீயும் உன் சகோதரனாகிய ஆரோனும் சபையாரைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து, அவர்கள் கண்களுக்குமுன்னே கன்மலையைப் பார்த்துப் பேசுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது அது தன்னிடத்திலுள்ள தண்ணீரைக் கொடுக்கும்; இப்படி நீ அவர்களுக்குக் கன்மலையிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் புறப்படப்பண்ணி, சபையாருக்கும் அவர்கள் மிருகங்களுக்கும் குடிக்கக் கொடுப்பாய் என்றார்.

8. 'Get your wooden staff. You and your brother Aaron gather the people together. Then speak to that rock while everyone is watching. It will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community. Then they and their livestock can drink it.'

9. அப்பொழுது மோசே தனக்குக் கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியிலிருந்த கோலை எடுத்தான்.

9. So Moses took the wooden staff from the tent. He did just as the Lord had commanded him.

10. மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் சபையாரைக் கன்மலைக்கு முன்பாகக் கூடிவரச்செய்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: கலகக்காரரே, கேளுங்கள், உங்களுக்கு இந்தக் கன்மலையிலிருந்து நாங்கள் தண்ணீர் புறப்படப்பண்ணுவோமோ என்று சொல்லி,

10. He and Aaron gathered the people together in front of the rock. Moses said to them, 'Listen, you who refuse to obey! Do we have to bring water out of this rock for you?'

11. தன் கையை ஓங்கி, கன்மலையைத் தன் கோலினால் இரண்டுதரம் அடித்தான்; உடனே தண்ணீர் ஏராளமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டது, சபையார் குடித்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் மிருகங்களும் குடித்தது.

11. Then Moses raised his arm. He hit the rock twice with his staff. Water poured out. And the people and their livestock drank it.

12. பின்பு கர்த்தர் மோசேயையும் ஆரோனையும் நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக என்னைப் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணும்படி, நீங்கள் என்னை விசுவாசியாமற்போனபடியினால், இந்தச் சபையாருக்கு நான் கொடுத்த தேசத்துக்குள் நீங்கள் அவர்களைக் கொண்டுபோவதில்லை என்றார்.

12. But the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said, 'You did not trust in me enough to honor me. You did not honor me as the holy God in front of the people of Israel. So you will not bring this community into the land I am giving them.'

13. இங்கே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரோடே வாக்குவாதம்பண்ணினதினாலும், அவர்களுக்குள்ளே அவருடைய பரிசுத்தம் விளங்கினதினாலும் இது மேரிபாவின் தண்ணீர் என்னப்பட்டது.

13. Those were the waters of Meribah. That's where the people of Israel argued with the Lord. And that's where he showed them he is holy.

14. பின்பு மோசே காதேசிலிருந்து ஏதோமின் ராஜாவினிடத்துக்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி:

14. Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom. The messengers said, 'The nation of Israel is your brother. They say, 'You know about all of the hard times we've had.

15. எங்கள் பிதாக்கள் எகிப்துக்குப் போனதும், நாங்கள் எகிப்திலே நெடுநாள் வாசம்பண்ணினதும், எகிப்தியர் எங்களையும் எங்கள் பிதாக்களையும் உபத்திரவப்படுத்தினதும், இவைகளினால் எங்களுக்கு நேரிட்ட எல்லா வருத்தமும் உமக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிறது.

15. Long ago our people went down into Egypt. We lived there for many years. The Egyptians treated us and our people badly.

16. கர்த்தரை நோக்கி நாங்கள் மன்றாடினோம்; அவர் எங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, ஒரு தூதனை அனுப்பி, எங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்; இப்பொழுது நாங்கள் உமது எல்லைக்கு உட்பட்ட காதேஸ் ஊரில் வந்திருக்கிறோம்.

16. But we cried out to the Lord. He heard our cry. He sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. ' 'Now here we are at the town of Kadesh. It's on the edge of your territory.

17. நாங்கள் உமது தேசத்தின் வழியாய்க் கடந்துபோகும்படி உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; வயல்வெளிகள் வழியாகவும், திராட்சத்தோட்டங்கள் வழியாகவும் நாங்கள் போகாமலும், துரவுகளின் தண்ணீரைக் குடியாமலும், ராஜபாதையாகவே நடந்து, உமது எல்லையைக் கடந்துபோகுமட்டும், வலதுபுறம் இடதுபுறம் சாயாதிருப்போம் என்று, உமது சகோதரனாகிய இஸ்ரவேல் சொல்லி அனுப்புகிறான் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

17. Please let us pass through your country. We won't go through any field or vineyard. We won't drink water from any well. We'll travel along the king's highway. We won't turn to the right or the left. We'll just go straight through your territory.' '

18. அதற்கு ஏதோம்: நீ என் தேசத்தின் வழியாய்க் கடந்துபோகக்கூடாது; போனால் பட்டயத்தோடே உன்னை எதிர்க்கப் புறப்படுவேன் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

18. But the people of Edom answered, 'You can't pass through here. If you try to, we'll march out against you. We'll attack you with our swords.'

19. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அவனை நோக்கி: நடப்பான பாதையின் வழியாய்ப் போவோம்; நாங்களும் எங்கள் மிருகங்களும் உன் தண்ணீரைக் குடித்தால், அதற்குக் கிரயங்கொடுப்போம்; வேறொன்றும் செய்யாமல், கால்நடையாய் மாத்திரம் கடந்துபோவோம் என்றார்கள்.

19. The people of Israel replied, 'We'll go along the main road. We and our livestock won't drink any of your water. If we do, we'll pay for it. We only want to walk through your country. That's all we ask.'

20. அதற்கு அவன்: நீ கடந்துபோகக்கூடாது என்று சொல்லி, வெகு ஜனங்களோடும் பலத்த கையோடும் அவர்களை எதிர்க்கப் புறப்பட்டான்.

20. Again the people of Edom answered, 'You can't pass through here.' Then the people of Edom came out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

21. இப்படி ஏதோம் தன் எல்லைவழியாய்க் கடந்துபோகும்படி இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவில்லை; ஆகையால் இஸ்ரவேலர் அவனை விட்டு விலகிப் போனார்கள்.

21. Edom refused to let Israel go through their territory. So Israel turned away from them.

22. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரான சபையார் எல்லாரும் காதேசை விட்டுப் பிரயாணப்பட்டு, ஓர் என்னும் மலைக்குப் போனார்கள்.

22. The whole community of Israel started out from Kadesh. They arrived at Mount Hor.

23. ஏதோம் தேசத்தின் எல்லைக்கு அருகான ஓர் என்னும் மலையிலே கர்த்தர் மோசேயையும் ஆரோனையும் நோக்கி:

23. It was near the border of Edom. There the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said,

24. ஆரோன் தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்படுவான். மேரிபாவின் தண்ணீரைப்பற்றிய காரியத்தில் நீங்கள் என் வாக்குக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாமற்போனபடியினால், நான் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்தில் அவன் பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை.

24. 'Aaron will join the members of his family who have already died. He will not enter the land I am giving to the people of Israel. Both of you refused to obey my command. You did it at the waters of Meribah.

25. நீ ஆரோனையும் அவன் குமாரனாகிய எலெயாசாரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவர்களை ஓர் என்னும் மலையில் ஏறப்பண்ணி,

25. 'So get Aaron and his son Eleazar. Take them up Mount Hor.

26. ஆரோன் உடுத்திருக்கிற வஸ்திரங்களைக் கழற்றி, அவைகளை அவன் குமாரனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கு உடுத்துவாயாக; ஆரோன் அங்கே மரித்து, தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்படுவான் என்றார்.

26. Take Aaron's official robes off him. Put them on his son Eleazar. Aaron will die on Mount Hor. He will join the members of his family who have already died.'

27. கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே மோசே செய்தான்; சபையார் எல்லாரும் பார்க்க, அவர்கள் ஓர் என்னும் மலையில் ஏறினார்கள்.

27. Moses did just as the Lord had commanded. The three men went up Mount Hor while the whole community was watching.

28. அங்கே ஆரோன் உடுத்திருந்த வஸ்திரங்களை மோசே கழற்றி, அவைகளை அவன் குமாரனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கு உடுத்தினான்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோன் அங்கே மலையின் உச்சியிலே மரித்தான்; பின்பு மோசேயும் எலெயாசாரும் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினார்கள்.

28. Moses took Aaron's official robes off him. He put them on Aaron's son Eleazar. And Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.

29. ஆரோன் ஜீவித்துப்போனான் என்பதைச் சபையார் எல்லாரும் கண்டபோது, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தார் எல்லாரும் ஆரோனுக்காக முப்பது நாள் துக்கங்கொண்டாடினார்கள்.

29. The whole community found out that Aaron had died. So the entire nation of Israel sobbed over him for 30 days.
