1. The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them:

2. Speak to the people of Israel, saying: From among all the land animals, these are the creatures that you may eat.

3. மிருகங்களில் விரிகுளம்புள்ளதாயிருந்து, குளம்புகள் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்திருக்கிறதும் அசைபோடுகிறதுமானவைகளையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாம்.

3. Any animal that has divided hoofs and is cleft-footed and chews the cud-- such you may eat.

4. ஆனாலும், அசைபோடுகிறதும் விரிகுளம்புள்ளதுமானவைகளில் ஒட்டகமானது அசைபோடுகிறதாயிருந்தாலும், அதற்கு விரிகுளம்பில்லாதபடியால், அது உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருக்கும்.

4. But among those that chew the cud or have divided hoofs, you shall not eat the following: the camel, for even though it chews the cud, it does not have divided hoofs; it is unclean for you.

7. The pig, for even though it has divided hoofs and is cleft-footed, it does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.

8. இவைகளின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசிக்கவும், இவைகளின் உடல்களைத் தொடவும் வேண்டாம்; இவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

8. Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.

9. ஜலத்திலிருக்கிறவைகளில் நீங்கள் புசிக்கத்தக்கது யாதெனில்: கடல்களும் ஆறுகளுமாகிய தண்ணீர்களிலே சிறகும் செதிளும் உள்ளவைகளையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாம்.

9. These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the streams-- such you may eat.

10. ஆனாலும், கடல்களும் ஆறுகளுமாகிய தண்ணீர்களில் நீந்துகிறதும் வாழ்கிறதுமான பிராணிகளில் சிறகும் செதிளும் இல்லாதவைகள் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருப்பதாக.

10. But anything in the seas or the streams that does not have fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and among all the other living creatures that are in the waters-- they are detestable to you

11. அவைகள் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கக்கடவது; அவைகளின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசியாதிருந்து, அவைகளின் உடல்களை அருவருப்பீர்களாக.

11. and detestable they shall remain. Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall regard as detestable.

12. தண்ணீர்களிலே சிறகும் செதிளும் இல்லாத யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

12. Everything in the waters that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.

13. பறவைகளில் நீங்கள் புசியாமல் அருவருக்கவேண்டியவைகள் யாதெனில்: கழுகும், கருடனும், கடலுராஞ்சியும்,

13. These you shall regard as detestable among the birds. They shall not be eaten; they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,

14. பருந்தும், சகலவித வல்லூறும்,

14. the buzzard, the kite of any kind;

15. சகலவித காகங்களும்,

15. every raven of any kind;

16. தீக்குருவியும், கூகையும், செம்புகமும், சகலவித டேகையும்,

16. the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind;

17. ஆந்தையும், நீர்க்காகமும், கோட்டானும்,

17. the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,

18. நாரையும், கூழக்கடாவும், குருகும்,

18. the water hen, the desert owl, the carrion vulture,

19. கொக்கும், சகலவித ராஜாளியும், புழுக்கொத்தியும், வௌவாலும் ஆகிய இவைகளே.

19. the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

20. பறக்கிறவைகளில் நாலுகாலால் நடமாடுகிற ஊரும்பிராணிகள் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருப்பதாக.

20. All winged insects that walk upon all fours are detestable to you.

21. ஆகிலும், பறக்கிறவைகளில் நாலுகாலால் நடமாடுகிற யாவிலும், நீங்கள் புசிக்கத்தக்கது யாதெனில்: தரையிலே தத்துகிறதற்குக் கால்களுக்குமேல் தொடைகள் உண்டாயிருக்கிறவைகளிலே,

21. But among the winged insects that walk on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet, with which to leap on the ground.

22. வெட்டுக்கிளி ஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும், சோலையாம் என்னும் கிளிஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும், அர்கொல் என்னும் கிளிஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும், ஆகாபு என்னும் கிளிஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும் நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாம்.

22. Of them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the grasshopper according to its kind.

23. பறக்கிறவைகளில் நாலு காலால் நடமாடுகிற மற்ற யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருப்பதாக.

23. But all other winged insects that have four feet are detestable to you.

24. அவைகளாலே தீட்டுப்படுவீர்கள்; அவைகளின் உடலைத் தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

24. By these you shall become unclean; whoever touches the carcass of any of them shall be unclean until the evening,

25. அவைகளின் உடலைச் சுமந்தவன் எவனும் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

25. and whoever carries any part of the carcass of any of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.

26. விரிநகங்களுள்ளவைகளாயிருந்தும், இருபிளவான குளம்பில்லாமலும் அசைபோடாமலும் இருக்கிற மிருகங்கள் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருப்பதாக; அவைகளைத் தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் தீட்டுப்படுவான்.

26. Every animal that has divided hoofs but is not cleft-footed or does not chew the cud is unclean for you; everyone who touches one of them shall be unclean.

27. நாலுகாலால் நடக்கிற சகல ஜீவன்களிலும் தங்கள் உள்ளங்கால்களை ஊன்றி நடக்கிற யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருப்பதாக; அவைகளின் உடலைத்தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

27. All that walk on their paws, among the animals that walk on all fours, are unclean for you; whoever touches the carcass of any of them shall be unclean until the evening,

28. அவைகளின் உடலைச் சுமந்தவன் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்; இவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

28. and the one who carries the carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening; they are unclean for you.

29. தரையில் ஊருகிற பிராணிகளில் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமானவைகள் எவையெனில்: பெருச்சாளியும், எலியும், சகலவிதமான ஆமையும்,

29. These are unclean for you among the creatures that swarm upon the earth: the weasel, the mouse, the great lizard according to its kind,

30. உடும்பும், அழுங்கும், ஓணானும், பல்லியும், பச்சோந்தியும் ஆகிய இவைகளே.

30. the gecko, the land crocodile, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.

31. சகல ஊரும் பிராணிகளிலும் இவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது; அவைகளில் செத்ததைத் தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

31. These are unclean for you among all that swarm; whoever touches one of them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening.

32. அவைகளில் செத்தது ஒன்று யாதொன்றின்மேல் விழுந்தால் அது தீட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும்; அது மரப்பாத்திரமானாலும், வஸ்திரமானாலும், தோலானாலும், பையானாலும், வேலை செய்கிறதற்கேற்ற ஆயுதமானாலும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டாயிருக்கும்; அது தண்ணீரில் போடப்படவேண்டும், அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாகும்.

32. And anything upon which any of them falls when they are dead shall be unclean, whether an article of wood or cloth or skin or sacking, any article that is used for any purpose; it shall be dipped into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening, and then it shall be clean.

33. அவைகளில் ஒன்று மண்பாண்டத்திற்குள் விழுந்தால், அதற்குள் இருக்கிறவை யாவும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும்; அதை உடைத்துப்போடவேண்டும்.

33. And if any of them falls into any earthen vessel, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break the vessel.

34. புசிக்கத்தக்க போஜனபதார்த்தத்தின்மேல் அந்தத் தண்ணீர் பட்டால், அது தீட்டாகும்; குடிக்கத்தக்க எந்தப்பானமும் அப்படிப்பட்ட பாத்திரத்தினால் தீட்டுப்படும்.

34. Any food that could be eaten shall be unclean if water from any such vessel comes upon it; and any liquid that could be drunk shall be unclean if it was in any such vessel.

35. அவைகளின் உடலில் யாதொன்று எதின்மேல் விழுதோ, அதுவும் தீட்டுப்படும்; அடுப்பானாலும் மண்தொட்டியானாலும் தகர்க்கப்படுவதாக; அவைகள் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும்; ஆகையால், அவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

35. Everything on which any part of the carcass falls shall be unclean; whether an oven or stove, it shall be broken in pieces; they are unclean, and shall remain unclean for you.

36. ஆனாலும், நீரூற்றும் மிகுந்த ஜலம் உண்டாகிய கிணறும், சுத்தமாயிருக்கும்; அவைகளிலுள்ள உடலைத் தொடுகிறவனோ தீட்டுப்படுவான்.

36. But a spring or a cistern holding water shall be clean, while whatever touches the carcass in it shall be unclean.

37. மேற்சொல்லியவைகளின் உடலில் யாதொன்று விதைத்தானியத்தின்மேல் விழுந்தால், அது தீட்டுப்படாது.

37. If any part of their carcass falls upon any seed set aside for sowing, it is clean;

38. அந்த உடலில் யாதொன்று தண்ணீர் வார்க்கப்பட்டிருக்கிற விதையின்மேல் விழுந்ததானால், அது உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

38. but if water is put on the seed and any part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.

39. உங்களுக்கு ஆகாரத்துக்கான ஒரு மிருகம் செத்தால், அதின் உடலைத்தொடுகிறவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

39. If an animal of which you may eat dies, anyone who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

40. அதின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசித்தவன் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்; அதின் உடலை எடுத்துப்போனவனும் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

40. Those who eat of its carcass shall wash their clothes and be unclean until the evening; and those who carry the carcass shall wash their clothes and be unclean until the evening.

41. தரையில் ஊருகிற பிராணிகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கக்கடவது; அவை புசிக்கப்படலாகாது.

41. All creatures that swarm upon the earth are detestable; they shall not be eaten.

42. தரையில் ஊருகிற சகல பிராணிகளிலும், வயிற்றினால் நகருகிறவைகளையும், நாலுகாலால் நடமாடுகிறவைகளையும் அநேகங் கால்களுள்ளவைகளையும் புசியாதிருப்பீர்களாக; அவைகள் அருவருப்பானவைகள்.

42. Whatever moves on its belly, and whatever moves on all fours, or whatever has many feet, all the creatures that swarm upon the earth, you shall not eat; for they are detestable.

43. ஊருகிற எந்தப் பிராணிகளிலும் உங்களை அருவருப்பாக்கிக்கொள்ளாமலும், அவைகளால் தீட்டுப்படாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக; அவைகளாலே நீங்கள் தீட்டுப்படுவீர்கள்.

43. You shall not make yourselves detestable with any creature that swarms; you shall not defile yourselves with them, and so become unclean.

44. நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர், நான் பரிசுத்தர்; ஆகையால், தரையில் ஊருகிற எந்தப் பிராணிகளிலும் உங்களைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தாமல், உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கிக்கொண்டு, பரிசுத்தராயிருப்பீர்களாக.

44. For I am the LORD your God; sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming creature that moves on the earth.

45. நான் உங்கள் தேவனாயிருக்கும்படி உங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின கர்த்தர், நான் பரிசுத்தர்; ஆகையால். நீங்களும் பரிசுத்தராயிருப்பீர்களாக.

45. For I am the LORD who brought you up from the land of Egypt, to be your God; you shall be holy, for I am holy.

46. சுத்தமானதற்கும் அசுத்தமானதற்கும், புசிக்கத்தக்க ஜந்துக்களுக்கும் புசிக்கத்தகாத ஜந்துக்களுக்கும் வித்தியாசம் பண்ணும்பொருட்டு,

46. This is the law pertaining to land animal and bird and every living creature that moves through the waters and every creature that swarms upon the earth,

47. மிருகத்துக்கும், பறவைகளுக்கும், தண்ணீர்களில் நீந்துகிற சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்களுக்கும், பூமியின்மேல் ஊருகிற சகல பிராணிகளுக்கும் அடுத்த பிரமாணம் இதுவே என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்.

47. to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living creature that may be eaten and the living creature that may not be eaten.
