1. The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

2. நீங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரோடே சொல்லவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், பூமியிலிருக்கிற சகல மிருகங்களிலும் நீங்கள் புசிக்கத்தக்க ஜீவ ஜந்துக்கள் யாதெனில்:

2. 'Say to the people of Israel, 'These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals on the earth.

3. மிருகங்களில் விரிகுளம்புள்ளதாயிருந்து, குளம்புகள் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்திருக்கிறதும் அசைபோடுகிறதுமானவைகளையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாம்.

3. You may eat any animal that has hard and divided feet and chews its food again.

4. ஆனாலும், அசைபோடுகிறதும் விரிகுளம்புள்ளதுமானவைகளில் ஒட்டகமானது அசைபோடுகிறதாயிருந்தாலும், அதற்கு விரிகுளம்பில்லாதபடியால், அது உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருக்கும்.

4. But among those which chew their food again or have feet that are hard and divided, do not eat the camel. For it chews its food again, but does not have feet that are hard and divided. It is unclean to you.

5. Do not eat the rock badger. For it chews its food again, but does not have feet that are hard and divided. It is unclean to you.

6. முயலானது அசைபோடுகிறதாயிருந்தும், அதற்கு விரிகுளம்பில்லை; அது உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருக்கும்.

6. Do not eat the rabbit. For it chews its food again, but does not have feet that are hard and divided. It is unclean to you.

7. பன்றியின் குளம்பு விரிகுளம்பும் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்ததுமாயிருந்தும், அது அசைபோடாது; அது உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருக்கும்.

7. And do not eat the pig. For it has feet that are hard and divided, but it does not chew its food again. It is unclean to you.

8. இவைகளின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசிக்கவும், இவைகளின் உடல்களைத் தொடவும் வேண்டாம்; இவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

8. Do not eat their flesh or touch their dead bodies. They are unclean to you.

9. ஜலத்திலிருக்கிறவைகளில் நீங்கள் புசிக்கத்தக்கது யாதெனில்: கடல்களும் ஆறுகளுமாகிய தண்ணீர்களிலே சிறகும் செதிளும் உள்ளவைகளையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாம்.

9. 'These you may eat, of all that are in the water. You may eat everything in the water that has fins and scales, in the seas or in the rivers.

10. ஆனாலும், கடல்களும் ஆறுகளுமாகிய தண்ணீர்களில் நீந்துகிறதும் வாழ்கிறதுமான பிராணிகளில் சிறகும் செதிளும் இல்லாதவைகள் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருப்பதாக.

10. But whatever is in the seas and rivers that does not have fins and scales, among all the living things moving in the water, are to be hated by you.

11. அவைகள் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கக்கடவது; அவைகளின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசியாதிருந்து, அவைகளின் உடல்களை அருவருப்பீர்களாக.

11. You will hate them. You may not eat their meat, and you will hate their dead bodies.

12. தண்ணீர்களிலே சிறகும் செதிளும் இல்லாத யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

12. Whatever in the water does not have fins and scales will be hated by you.

13. பறவைகளில் நீங்கள் புசியாமல் அருவருக்கவேண்டியவைகள் யாதெனில்: கழுகும், கருடனும், கடலுராஞ்சியும்,

13. 'These you will hate among the birds. They are hated and not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,

14. பருந்தும், சகலவித வல்லூறும்,

14. the kite, every kind of falcon,

15. சகலவித காகங்களும்,

15. every kind of raven,

16. தீக்குருவியும், கூகையும், செம்புகமும், சகலவித டேகையும்,

16. the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, every kind of hawk,

17. ஆந்தையும், நீர்க்காகமும், கோட்டானும்,

17. the little owl, the cormorant, the big owl,

18. நாரையும், கூழக்கடாவும், குருகும்,

18. the white owl, the pelican, the vulture that eats dead flesh,

19. கொக்கும், சகலவித ராஜாளியும், புழுக்கொத்தியும், வௌவாலும் ஆகிய இவைகளே.

19. the stork, every kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

20. பறக்கிறவைகளில் நாலுகாலால் நடமாடுகிற ஊரும்பிராணிகள் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருப்பதாக.

20. 'All bugs with wings and that walk on all fours are to be hated by you.

21. ஆகிலும், பறக்கிறவைகளில் நாலுகாலால் நடமாடுகிற யாவிலும், நீங்கள் புசிக்கத்தக்கது யாதெனில்: தரையிலே தத்துகிறதற்குக் கால்களுக்குமேல் தொடைகள் உண்டாயிருக்கிறவைகளிலே,

21. But you may eat, among all the bugs with wings and that walk on all fours, those which have legs above their feet that allow them to jump on the ground.

22. வெட்டுக்கிளி ஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும், சோலையாம் என்னும் கிளிஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும், அர்கொல் என்னும் கிளிஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும், ஆகாபு என்னும் கிளிஜாதியாயிருக்கிறதையும் நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாம்.

22. You may eat every kind of locust, every kind of destroying locust, every kind of cricket, and every kind of grasshopper.

23. பறக்கிறவைகளில் நாலு காலால் நடமாடுகிற மற்ற யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருப்பதாக.

23. But you are to hate all other bugs with wings and four feet.

24. அவைகளாலே தீட்டுப்படுவீர்கள்; அவைகளின் உடலைத் தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

24. 'If you touch these you will be unclean. Whoever touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

25. அவைகளின் உடலைச் சுமந்தவன் எவனும் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

25. And whoever picks up any of their dead bodies will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.

26. விரிநகங்களுள்ளவைகளாயிருந்தும், இருபிளவான குளம்பில்லாமலும் அசைபோடாமலும் இருக்கிற மிருகங்கள் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருப்பதாக; அவைகளைத் தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் தீட்டுப்படுவான்.

26. Every animal that has a parted foot but not a divided foot, or that does not eat its food again, is unclean to you. Whoever touches them will be unclean.

27. நாலுகாலால் நடக்கிற சகல ஜீவன்களிலும் தங்கள் உள்ளங்கால்களை ஊன்றி நடக்கிற யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருப்பதாக; அவைகளின் உடலைத்தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

27. Whatever walks on its soft feet, among all the animals that walk on all fours, are unclean to you. Whoever touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

28. அவைகளின் உடலைச் சுமந்தவன் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்; இவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

28. And he who picks up their dead bodies will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. They are unclean to you.

29. தரையில் ஊருகிற பிராணிகளில் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமானவைகள் எவையெனில்: பெருச்சாளியும், எலியும், சகலவிதமான ஆமையும்,

29. 'These animals that move on the earth are unclean to you: the mole, the mouse, every kind of big lizard,

30. உடும்பும், அழுங்கும், ஓணானும், பல்லியும், பச்சோந்தியும் ஆகிய இவைகளே.

30. the gecko, the crocodile, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.

31. சகல ஊரும் பிராணிகளிலும் இவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது; அவைகளில் செத்ததைத் தொடுகிறவன் எவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

31. These animals that move on the earth are unclean to you. Whoever touches their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

32. அவைகளில் செத்தது ஒன்று யாதொன்றின்மேல் விழுந்தால் அது தீட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும்; அது மரப்பாத்திரமானாலும், வஸ்திரமானாலும், தோலானாலும், பையானாலும், வேலை செய்கிறதற்கேற்ற ஆயுதமானாலும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டாயிருக்கும்; அது தண்ணீரில் போடப்படவேண்டும், அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாகும்.

32. And anything on which one of them may fall when they are dead will be unclean. Each piece of wood or clothing or skin or bag or anything used as you work, must be put in water. It will be unclean until evening. Then it will be clean.

33. அவைகளில் ஒன்று மண்பாண்டத்திற்குள் விழுந்தால், அதற்குள் இருக்கிறவை யாவும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும்; அதை உடைத்துப்போடவேண்டும்.

33. If any falls into a clay pot, whatever is in the pot will be unclean. You should break the pot.

34. புசிக்கத்தக்க போஜனபதார்த்தத்தின்மேல் அந்தத் தண்ணீர் பட்டால், அது தீட்டாகும்; குடிக்கத்தக்க எந்தப்பானமும் அப்படிப்பட்ட பாத்திரத்தினால் தீட்டுப்படும்.

34. Any food that could be eaten but has water from such a pot on it will be unclean. And anything which could be drunk from any such pot will be unclean.

35. அவைகளின் உடலில் யாதொன்று எதின்மேல் விழுதோ, அதுவும் தீட்டுப்படும்; அடுப்பானாலும் மண்தொட்டியானாலும் தகர்க்கப்படுவதாக; அவைகள் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும்; ஆகையால், அவைகள் உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

35. Everything on which part of their dead body may fall will be unclean. A stove or a place for pots must be broken. They are unclean to you.

36. ஆனாலும், நீரூற்றும் மிகுந்த ஜலம் உண்டாகிய கிணறும், சுத்தமாயிருக்கும்; அவைகளிலுள்ள உடலைத் தொடுகிறவனோ தீட்டுப்படுவான்.

36. But a well or a place holding water will be clean. But whoever touches a dead body will be unclean.

37. மேற்சொல்லியவைகளின் உடலில் யாதொன்று விதைத்தானியத்தின்மேல் விழுந்தால், அது தீட்டுப்படாது.

37. If a part of their dead body falls on any seed which is to be planted, it is clean.

38. அந்த உடலில் யாதொன்று தண்ணீர் வார்க்கப்பட்டிருக்கிற விதையின்மேல் விழுந்ததானால், அது உங்களுக்குத் தீட்டாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

38. But if water is put on the seed, and a body falls on it, it is unclean to you.

39. உங்களுக்கு ஆகாரத்துக்கான ஒரு மிருகம் செத்தால், அதின் உடலைத்தொடுகிறவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

39. 'If one of the animals dies which you have for food, the one who touches its dead body will be unclean until evening.

40. அதின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசித்தவன் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவன் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்; அதின் உடலை எடுத்துப்போனவனும் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கக்கடவன்; அவனும் சாயங்காலம்மட்டும் தீட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

40. He who eats some of the dead body will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. And he who picks up its dead body will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.

41. தரையில் ஊருகிற பிராணிகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கக்கடவது; அவை புசிக்கப்படலாகாது.

41. 'Anything that moves around on the ground in large numbers is hated and is not to be eaten.

42. தரையில் ஊருகிற சகல பிராணிகளிலும், வயிற்றினால் நகருகிறவைகளையும், நாலுகாலால் நடமாடுகிறவைகளையும் அநேகங் கால்களுள்ளவைகளையும் புசியாதிருப்பீர்களாக; அவைகள் அருவருப்பானவைகள்.

42. You should not eat whatever moves on its stomach, or goes on four feet, or has many feet, among all the things that move around on the ground in large numbers. For they are hated.

43. ஊருகிற எந்தப் பிராணிகளிலும் உங்களை அருவருப்பாக்கிக்கொள்ளாமலும், அவைகளால் தீட்டுப்படாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக; அவைகளாலே நீங்கள் தீட்டுப்படுவீர்கள்.

43. Do not make yourselves unclean by any of the small living things that move together on the ground, so you become unclean.

44. நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர், நான் பரிசுத்தர்; ஆகையால், தரையில் ஊருகிற எந்தப் பிராணிகளிலும் உங்களைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தாமல், உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கிக்கொண்டு, பரிசுத்தராயிருப்பீர்களாக.

44. For I am the Lord your God. So set yourselves apart, and be holy. For I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean with any of the small living things that move together in large numbers on the ground.

45. நான் உங்கள் தேவனாயிருக்கும்படி உங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின கர்த்தர், நான் பரிசுத்தர்; ஆகையால். நீங்களும் பரிசுத்தராயிருப்பீர்களாக.

45. For I am the Lord Who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. So be holy, because I am holy.' ''

46. சுத்தமானதற்கும் அசுத்தமானதற்கும், புசிக்கத்தக்க ஜந்துக்களுக்கும் புசிக்கத்தகாத ஜந்துக்களுக்கும் வித்தியாசம் பண்ணும்பொருட்டு,

46. This is the Law of the animal, the bird, every living thing that moves in the water, and everything that moves on the ground.

47. மிருகத்துக்கும், பறவைகளுக்கும், தண்ணீர்களில் நீந்துகிற சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்களுக்கும், பூமியின்மேல் ஊருகிற சகல பிராணிகளுக்கும் அடுத்த பிரமாணம் இதுவே என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்.

47. It is so you know the difference between those that are clean and those that are unclean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.
