1. The Lord said to Moses, 'Go to the king of Egypt. I have made him and his officers stubborn so I could show them my powerful miracles.

2. I also did this so you could tell your children and your grandchildren how I was hard on the Egyptians. Tell them about the miracles I did among them so that all of you will know that I am the Lord.'

3. So Moses and Aaron went to the king and told him, 'This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: 'How long will you refuse to be sorry for what you have done? Let my people go to worship me.

4. நீ என் ஜனங்களைப் போகவிடமாட்டேன் என்பாயாகில், நான் நாளைக்கு உன் எல்லைகளுக்குள்ளே வெட்டுக்கிளிகளை வரப்பண்ணுவேன்.

4. If you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country.

5. தரை காணாதபடிக்கு அவைகள் பூமியின் முகத்தை மூடி, கல்மழைக்குத் தப்பி மீதியாக வைக்கப்பட்டதைப் பட்சித்து, வெளியிலே துளிர்க்கிற செடிகளையெல்லாம் தின்றுபோடும்.

5. They will cover the land so that no one will be able to see the ground. They will eat anything that was left from the hailstorm and the leaves from every tree growing in the field.

6. உன் வீடுகளும் உன் ஊழியக்காரருடைய வீடுகளும் எகிப்தியரின் வீடுகளும் எல்லாம் அவைகளால் நிரம்பும்; உன் பிதாக்களும் உன் பிதாக்களின் பிதாக்களும் தாங்கள் பூமியில் தோன்றின நாள்முதல் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அப்படிப் பட்டவைகளைக் கண்டதில்லை என்று எபிரெயரின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று சொல்லி, திரும்பிக்கொண்டு பார்வோனை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டான்.

6. They will fill your palaces and all your officers' houses, as well as the houses of all the Egyptians. There will be more locusts than your fathers or ancestors have ever seen -- more than there have been since people began living in Egypt.'' Then Moses turned and walked away from the king.

7. அப்பொழுது பார்வோனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: எந்தமட்டும் இந்த மனிதன் நமக்குக் கண்ணியாயிருப்பான்? தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனைசெய்ய அந்த மனிதரைப் போகவிடும்; எகிப்து அழிந்துபோனதை நீர் இன்னும் அறியவில்லையா என்றார்கள்.

7. The king's officers asked him, 'How long will this man make trouble for us? Let the Israelites go to worship the Lord their God. Don't you know that Egypt is ruined?'

8. அப்பொழுது மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் பார்வோனிடத்துக்குத் திரும்ப அழைக்கப்பட்டார்கள். அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் போய் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்யுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, யாரார் போகிறார்கள் என்று கேட்டான்.

8. So Moses and Aaron were brought back to the king. He said to them, 'Go and worship the Lord your God. But tell me, just who is going?'

9. அதற்கு மோசே: எங்கள் இளைஞரோடும், எங்கள் முதியோரோடும், எங்கள் குமாரரோடும், எங்கள் குமாரத்திகளோடும், எங்கள் ஆடுகளையும் எங்கள் மாடுகளையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோவோம்; நாங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடவேண்டும் என்றான்.

9. Moses answered, 'We will go with our young and old people, our sons and daughters, and our flocks and herds, because we are going to have a feast to honor the Lord.'

10. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் உங்களையும் உங்கள் குழந்தைகளையும் எப்படி விடுவேனோ, அப்படியே கர்த்தர் உங்களோடிருப்பாராக; எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள், உங்களுக்குப் பொல்லாப்பு நேரிடும்;

10. The king said to them, 'The Lord will really have to be with you if ever I let you and all of your children leave Egypt. See, you are planning something evil!

11. அப்படி வேண்டாம்; புருஷராகிய நீங்கள் போய், கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்யுங்கள்; இதுதானே நீங்கள் விரும்பிக் கேட்டது என்று சொன்னான். அவர்கள் பார்வோன் சமுகத்தினின்று துரத்தி விடப்பட்டார்கள்.

11. No! Only the men may go and worship the Lord, which is what you have been asking for.' Then the king forced Moses and Aaron out of his palace.

12. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: வெட்டுக்கிளிகள் எகிப்து தேசத்தின்மேல் வந்து கல்மழையினால் அழியாத பூமியின் பயிர்வகைகளையெல்லாம் பட்சிக்கும்படிக்கு, எகிப்து தேசத்தின்மேல் உன் கையை நீட்டு என்றார்.

12. The Lord told Moses, 'Raise your hand over the land of Egypt, and the locusts will come. They will spread all over the land of Egypt and will eat all the plants the hail did not destroy.'

13. அப்படியே மோசே தன் கோலை எகிப்து தேசத்தின்மேல் நீட்டினான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் அன்று பகல் முழுவதும் அன்று இராமுழுவதும் கீழ்காற்றைத் தேசத்தின்மேல் வீசப்பண்ணினார்; விடியற்காலத்திலே கீழ்காற்று வெட்டுக்கிளிகளைக் கொண்டுவந்தது.

13. So Moses raised his walking stick over the land of Egypt, and the Lord caused a strong wind to blow from the east. It blew across the land all that day and night, and when morning came, the east wind had brought the locusts.

14. வெட்டுக்கிளிகள் எகிப்து தேசம் எங்கும் பரம்பி, எகிப்தின் எல்லையில் எங்கும் மிகவும் ஏராளமாய் இறங்கிற்று; அப்படிப்பட்ட வெட்டுக்கிளிகள் அதற்குமுன் இருந்ததும் இல்லை, அதற்குப்பின் இருப்பதும் இல்லை.

14. Swarms of locusts covered all the land of Egypt and settled everywhere. There were more locusts than ever before or after,

15. அவைகள் பூமியின் முகம் முழுவதையும் மூடிற்று; தேசம் அவைகளால் அந்தகாரப்பட்டது; கல்மழைக்குத் தப்பியிருந்த நிலத்தின் பயிர்வகைகள் யாவையும் மரங்களின் கனிகள் யாவையும் அவைகள் பட்சித்துப்போட்டது; எகிப்து தேசம் எங்குமுள்ள மரங்களிலும் வயல்வெளியின் பயிர்வகைகளிலும் ஒரு பச்சிலையும் மீதியாயிருக்கவில்லை.

15. and they covered the whole land so that it was black. They ate everything that was left after the hail -- every plant in the field and all the fruit on the trees. Nothing green was left on any tree or plant anywhere in Egypt.

16. அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் மோசேயையும் ஆரோனையும் தீவிரமாய் அழைப்பித்து: உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்தேன்.

16. The king quickly called for Moses and Aaron. He said, 'I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you.

17. இந்த ஒரு முறைமாத்திரம் நீ என் பாவத்தை மன்னிக்கவேண்டும்; உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் இந்தச் சாவைமாத்திரம் என்னைவிட்டு விலக்க அவரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்றான்.

17. Now forgive my sin this time. Pray to the Lord your God, and ask him to stop this punishment that kills.'

18. அவன் பார்வோனை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், கர்த்தரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினான்.

18. Moses left the king and prayed to the Lord.

19. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மகா பலத்த மேல்காற்றை வீசும்படி செய்தார்; அது வெட்டுக்கிளிகளை அடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய் செங்கடலிலே போட்டது; எகிப்தின் எல்லையில் எங்கும் ஒரு வெட்டுகிளியாகிலும் மீதியாயிருந்ததில்லை.

19. So the Lord changed the wind. He made a very strong wind blow from the west, and it blew the locusts away into the Red Sea. Not one locust was left anywhere in Egypt.

20. கர்த்தரோ பார்வோனின் இருதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தினார்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரைப் போகவிடவில்லை.

20. But the Lord caused the king to be stubborn again, and he did not let the Israelites go.

21. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: தடவிக்கொண்டிருக்கத்தக்கதான இருள் எகிப்து தேசத்தின்மேல் உண்டாகும்படிக்கு, உன் கையை வானத்திற்கு நேராக நீட்டு என்றார்.

21. Then the Lord told Moses, 'Raise your hand toward the sky, and darkness will cover the land of Egypt. It will be so dark you will be able to feel it.'

22. மோசே தன் கையை வானத்திற்கு நேராக நீட்டினான்; அப்பொழுது எகிப்து தேசம் எங்கும் மூன்றுநாள் மட்டும் காரிருள் உண்டாயிற்று.

22. Moses raised his hand toward the sky, and total darkness was everywhere in Egypt for three days.

23. மூன்றுநாள் மட்டும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் காணவும் இல்லை, ஒருவரும் தம்மிடத்தைவிட்டு எழுந்திருக்கவும் இல்லை; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யாவருக்குமோவெனில் அவர்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்களிலே வெளிச்சம் இருந்தது.

23. No one could see anyone else, and no one could go anywhere for three days. But the Israelites had light where they lived.

24. அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் மோசேயை அழைப்பித்து; நீங்கள் போய்க் கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்யுங்கள்; உங்கள் ஆடுகளும் உங்கள் மாடுகளும்மாத்திரம் நிறுத்தப்படவேண்டும்; உங்கள் குழந்தைகள் உங்களுடன் போகலாம் என்றான்.

24. Again the king of Egypt called for Moses. He said, 'All of you may go and worship the Lord. You may take your women and children with you, but you must leave your flocks and herds here.'

25. அதற்கு மோசே: நாங்கள் எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் படைக்கும் பலிகளையும் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையும் நீர் எங்கள் கையிலே கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

25. Moses said, 'You must let us have animals to use as sacrifices and burnt offerings, because we have to offer them to the Lord our God.

26. எங்கள் மிருகஜீவன்களும் எங்களோடேகூட வரவேண்டும்; ஒரு குளம்பும் பின்வைக்கப்படுவதில்லை; எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்கிறதற்கு அவைகளிலிருந்து எடுக்கவேண்டும்; இன்னதைக்கொண்டு கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்வோம் என்பது நாங்கள் அங்கே போய்ச் சேருமளவும் எங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது என்றான்.

26. So we must take our animals with us; not a hoof will be left behind. We have to use some of the animals to worship the Lord our God. We won't know exactly what we will need to worship the Lord until we get there.'

27. கர்த்தர் பார்வோனுடைய இருதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தினார்; அவன் அவர்களைப் போகவிட மனதில்லாதிருந்தான்.

27. But the Lord made the king stubborn again, so he refused to let them go.

28. பார்வோன் அவனை நோக்கி: என்னை விட்டு அப்பாலே போ; நீ இனி என் முகத்தைக் காணாதபடி எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு; நீ இனி என் முகத்தைக் காணும் நாளில் சாவாய் என்றான்.

28. Then he told Moses, 'Get out of here, and don't come again! The next time you see me, you will die.'

29. அப்பொழுது மோசே: நீர் சொன்னது சரி; இனி நான் உம்முடைய முகத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்றான்.

29. Then Moses told the king, 'I'll do what you say. I will not come to see you again.'
