1. வரையாடுகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ? மான்கள் குட்டிபோடுகிறதைக் கவனித்தாயோ?

1. Hast thou known the time of The bearing of the wild goats of the rock? The bringing forth of hinds thou dost mark!

2. அவைகள் சினைப்பட்டிருந்து வருகிற மாதங்களை நீ எண்ணி, அவைகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ?

2. Thou dost number the months they fulfil? And thou hast known the time of their bringing forth!

3. அவைகள் நொந்து குனிந்து தங்கள் குட்டிகளைப் போட்டு, தங்கள் வேதனைகளை நீக்கிவிடும்.

3. They bow down, Their young ones they bring forth safely, Their pangs they cast forth.

4. அவைகளின் குட்டிகள் பலத்து, வனத்திலே வளர்ந்து, அவைகளண்டைக்குத் திரும்ப வராமற்போய்விடும்.

4. Safe are their young ones, They grow up in the field, they have gone out, And have not returned to them.

5. காட்டுக்கழுதையைத் தன்னிச்சையாய்த் திரியவிட்டவர் யார்? அந்தக் காட்டுக்கழுதையின் கட்டுகளை அவிழ்த்தவர் யார்?

5. Who hath sent forth the wild ass free? Yea, the bands of the wild ass who opened?

6. அதற்கு நான் வனாந்தரத்தை வீடாகவும், உவர்நிலத்தை வாசஸ்தலமாகவும் கொடுத்தேன்.

6. Whose house I have made the wilderness, And his dwellings the barren land,

7. அது பட்டணத்தின் இரைச்சலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணி, ஓட்டுகிறவனுடைய கூக்குரலை மதிக்கிறதில்லை.

7. He doth laugh at the multitude of a city, The cries of an exactor he heareth not.

8. அது மலைகளிலே தன் மேய்ச்சலைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, சகலவிதப் பச்சைப்பூண்டுகளையும் தேடித்திரியும்.

8. The range of mountains [is] his pasture, And after every green thing he seeketh.

9. காண்டாமிருகம் உன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கச் சம்மதிக்குமோ? அது உன் முன்னணைக்கு முன்பாக இராத்தங்குமோ?

9. Is a Reem willing to serve thee? Doth he lodge by thy crib?

10. படைச்சால்களை உழ நீ காண்டாமிருகத்தைக் கயிறுபோட்டு ஏரிலே பூட்டுவாயோ? அது உனக்கு இசைந்து பரம்படிக்குமோ?

10. Dost thou bind a Reem in a furrow [with] his thick band? Doth he harrow valleys after thee?

11. அது அதிக பெலமுள்ளதென்று நீ நம்பி அதினிடத்தில் வேலை வாங்குவாயோ?

11. Dost thou trust in him because great [is] his power? And dost thou leave unto him thy labour?

12. உன் தானியத்தை அது உன்வீட்டில் கொண்டுவந்து, உன் களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்க்கும் என்று நீ அதை நம்புவாயோ?

12. Dost thou trust in him That he doth bring back thy seed? And [to] thy threshing-floor doth gather [it]?

13. தீக்குருவிகள் தங்கள் செட்டைகளை அசைவாட்டி ஓடுகிற ஓட்டம், நாரை தன் செட்டைகளாலும் இறகுகளாலும் பறக்கிறதற்குச் சமானமல்லவோ?

13. The wing of the rattling ones exulteth, Whether the pinion of the ostrich or hawk.

14. அது தன் முட்டைகளைத் தரையிலே இட்டு, அவைகளை மணலிலே அனலுறைக்க வைத்துவிட்டுப்போய்,

14. For she leaveth on the earth her eggs, And on the dust she doth warm them,

15. காலால் மிதிபட்டு உடைந்துபோகும் என்பதையும், காட்டுமிருகங்கள் அவைகளை மிதித்துவிடும் என்பதையும் நினைக்கிறதில்லை.

15. And she forgetteth that a foot may press it, And a beast of the field tread it down.

16. அது தன் குஞ்சுகள் தன்னுடையதல்லாததுபோல அவைகளைக்காக்காத கடினகுணமுள்ளதாயிருக்கும்; அவைகளுக்காக அதற்குக் கவலையில்லாதபடியினால் அது பட்ட வருத்தம் விருதாவாம்.

16. Her young ones it hath hardened without her, In vain [is] her labour without fear.

17. தேவன் அதற்குப் புத்தியைக் கொடாமல், ஞானத்தை விலக்கிவைத்தார்.

17. For God hath caused her to forget wisdom, And He hath not given a portion To her in understanding:

18. அது செட்டை விரித்து எழும்பும்போது, குதிரையையும் அதின்மேல் ஏறியிருக்கிறவனையும் அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

18. At the time on high she lifteth herself up, She laugheth at the horse and at his rider.

19. குதிரைக்கு நீ வீரியத்தைக் கொடுத்தாயோ? அதின் தொண்டையில் குமுறலை வைத்தாயோ?

19. Dost thou give to the horse might? Dost thou clothe his neck [with] a mane?

20. ஒரு வெட்டுக்கிளியை மிரட்டுகிறதுபோல அதை மிரட்டுவாயோ? அதினுடைய நாசியின் செருக்கு பயங்கரமாயிருக்கிறது.

20. Dost thou cause him to rush as a locust? The majesty of his snorting [is] terrible.

21. அது தரையிலே தாளடித்து, தன் பலத்தில் களித்து, ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்தவருக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்படும்.

21. They dig in a valley, and he rejoiceth in power, He goeth forth to meet the armour.

22. அது கலங்காமலும், பட்டயத்துக்குப் பின்வாங்காமலுமிருந்து, பயப்படுதலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

22. He laugheth at fear, and is not affrighted, And he turneth not back from the face of the sword.

23. அம்பறாத்தூணியும், மின்னுகிற ஈட்டியும், கேடகமும் அதின்மேல் கலகலக்கும்போது,

23. Against him rattle doth quiver, The flame of a spear, and a halbert.

24. கர்வமும் மூர்க்கமுங்கொண்டு தரையை விழுங்கிவிடுகிறதுபோல் அநுமானித்து, எக்காளத்தின் தொனிக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பாயும்.

24. With trembling and rage he swalloweth the ground, And remaineth not stedfast Because of the sound of a trumpet.

25. எக்காளம் தொனிக்கும்போது அது நிகியென்று கனைக்கும்; யுத்தத்தையும், படைத்தலைவரின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பையும், சேனைகளின் ஆரவாரத்தையும் தூரத்திலிருந்து மோப்பம்பிடிக்கும்.

25. Among the trumpets he saith, Aha, And from afar he doth smell battle, Roaring of princes and shouting.

26. உன் புத்தியினாலே ராஜாளி பறந்து, தெற்குக்கு எதிராகத் தன் செட்டைகளை விரிக்கிறதோ?

26. By thine understanding flieth a hawk? Spreadeth he his wings to the south?

27. உன் கற்பனையினாலே கழுகு உயரப் பறந்து, உயரத்திலே தன் கூட்டைக் கட்டுமோ?

27. At thy command goeth an eagle up high? Or lifteth he up his nest?

28. அது கன்மலையிலும், கன்மலையின் சிகரத்திலும், அரணான ஸ்தலத்திலும் தங்கி வாசம்பண்ணும். றல்.

28. A rock he doth inhabit, Yea, he lodgeth on the tooth of a rock, and fortress.

29. அங்கேயிருந்து இரையை நோக்கும்; அதின் கண்கள் தூரத்திலிருந்து அதைப் பார்க்கும்.

29. From thence he hath sought food, To a far off place his eyes look attentively,

30. அதின் குஞ்சுகள் இரத்தத்தை உறிஞ்சும்; பிணம் எங்கேயோ அங்கே கழுகு சேரும் என்றார்.

30. And his brood gulp up blood, And where the pierced [are] -- there [is] he!
