1. வரையாடுகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ? மான்கள் குட்டிபோடுகிறதைக் கவனித்தாயோ?

1. [Say] if you know the time of the bringing forth of the wild goats of the rock, and if you have marked the calving of the hinds:

2. அவைகள் சினைப்பட்டிருந்து வருகிற மாதங்களை நீ எண்ணி, அவைகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ?

2. and if you have numbered the full months of their being with young, and if you have relieved their pangs:

3. அவைகள் நொந்து குனிந்து தங்கள் குட்டிகளைப் போட்டு, தங்கள் வேதனைகளை நீக்கிவிடும்.

3. and have reared their young without fear; and will you loosen their pangs?

4. அவைகளின் குட்டிகள் பலத்து, வனத்திலே வளர்ந்து, அவைகளண்டைக்குத் திரும்ப வராமற்போய்விடும்.

4. Their young will break forth; they will be multiplied with offspring: [their young] will go forth, and will not return to them.

5. காட்டுக்கழுதையைத் தன்னிச்சையாய்த் திரியவிட்டவர் யார்? அந்தக் காட்டுக்கழுதையின் கட்டுகளை அவிழ்த்தவர் யார்?

5. And who is he that sent forth the wild donkey free? And who loosed his bands?

6. அதற்கு நான் வனாந்தரத்தை வீடாகவும், உவர்நிலத்தை வாசஸ்தலமாகவும் கொடுத்தேன்.

6. Whereas I made his habitation the wilderness, and the salt land his coverts.

7. அது பட்டணத்தின் இரைச்சலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணி, ஓட்டுகிறவனுடைய கூக்குரலை மதிக்கிறதில்லை.

7. He laughs to scorn the multitude of the city, and hears not the chiding of the tax-gatherer.

8. அது மலைகளிலே தன் மேய்ச்சலைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, சகலவிதப் பச்சைப்பூண்டுகளையும் தேடித்திரியும்.

8. He will survey the mountains as his pasture, and he seeks after every green thing.

9. காண்டாமிருகம் உன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கச் சம்மதிக்குமோ? அது உன் முன்னணைக்கு முன்பாக இராத்தங்குமோ?

9. And will the unicorn be willing to serve you, or to lie down at your manger?

10. படைச்சால்களை உழ நீ காண்டாமிருகத்தைக் கயிறுபோட்டு ஏரிலே பூட்டுவாயோ? அது உனக்கு இசைந்து பரம்படிக்குமோ?

10. And will you bind his yoke with thongs, or will he plow valleys for you in the plain?

11. அது அதிக பெலமுள்ளதென்று நீ நம்பி அதினிடத்தில் வேலை வாங்குவாயோ?

11. And do you trust him, because his strength is great? And will you commit your works to him?

12. உன் தானியத்தை அது உன்வீட்டில் கொண்டுவந்து, உன் களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்க்கும் என்று நீ அதை நம்புவாயோ?

12. And will you believe that he will return to you your seed, and bring it in to your threshing floor?

13. தீக்குருவிகள் தங்கள் செட்டைகளை அசைவாட்டி ஓடுகிற ஓட்டம், நாரை தன் செட்டைகளாலும் இறகுகளாலும் பறக்கிறதற்குச் சமானமல்லவோ?

13. The peacock has a beautiful wing: if the stork and the ostrich conceive, [it is worthy] of notice,

14. அது தன் முட்டைகளைத் தரையிலே இட்டு, அவைகளை மணலிலே அனலுறைக்க வைத்துவிட்டுப்போய்,

14. for the ostrich will leave her eggs in the ground, and warm them on the dust,

15. காலால் மிதிபட்டு உடைந்துபோகும் என்பதையும், காட்டுமிருகங்கள் அவைகளை மிதித்துவிடும் என்பதையும் நினைக்கிறதில்லை.

15. and has forgotten that the foot will scatter them, and the wild beasts of the field trample them.

16. அது தன் குஞ்சுகள் தன்னுடையதல்லாததுபோல அவைகளைக்காக்காத கடினகுணமுள்ளதாயிருக்கும்; அவைகளுக்காக அதற்குக் கவலையில்லாதபடியினால் அது பட்ட வருத்தம் விருதாவாம்.

16. She has hardened herself against her young ones, as though she bereaved not herself: she labors in vain without fear.

17. தேவன் அதற்குப் புத்தியைக் கொடாமல், ஞானத்தை விலக்கிவைத்தார்.

17. For God has withheld wisdom from her, and not given her a portion in understanding.

18. அது செட்டை விரித்து எழும்பும்போது, குதிரையையும் அதின்மேல் ஏறியிருக்கிறவனையும் அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

18. In her season she will lift herself on high; she will scorn the horse and his rider.

19. குதிரைக்கு நீ வீரியத்தைக் கொடுத்தாயோ? அதின் தொண்டையில் குமுறலை வைத்தாயோ?

19. Have you invested the horse with strength, and clothed his neck with terror?

20. ஒரு வெட்டுக்கிளியை மிரட்டுகிறதுபோல அதை மிரட்டுவாயோ? அதினுடைய நாசியின் செருக்கு பயங்கரமாயிருக்கிறது.

20. And have you clad him in perfect armor, and made his breast glorious with courage?

21. அது தரையிலே தாளடித்து, தன் பலத்தில் களித்து, ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்தவருக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்படும்.

21. He paws exulting in the plain, and goes forth in strength into the plain.

22. அது கலங்காமலும், பட்டயத்துக்குப் பின்வாங்காமலுமிருந்து, பயப்படுதலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

22. He laughs to scorn a king as he meets him, and will by no means turn back from the sword.

23. அம்பறாத்தூணியும், மின்னுகிற ஈட்டியும், கேடகமும் அதின்மேல் கலகலக்கும்போது,

23. The bow and sword resound against him, and his rage will swallow up the ground;

24. கர்வமும் மூர்க்கமுங்கொண்டு தரையை விழுங்கிவிடுகிறதுபோல் அநுமானித்து, எக்காளத்தின் தொனிக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பாயும்.

24. and he will not believe until the trumpet sounds.

25. எக்காளம் தொனிக்கும்போது அது நிகியென்று கனைக்கும்; யுத்தத்தையும், படைத்தலைவரின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பையும், சேனைகளின் ஆரவாரத்தையும் தூரத்திலிருந்து மோப்பம்பிடிக்கும்.

25. And when the trumpet sounds, he says, Aha! And afar off, he smells the war with prancing and neighing.

26. உன் புத்தியினாலே ராஜாளி பறந்து, தெற்குக்கு எதிராகத் தன் செட்டைகளை விரிக்கிறதோ?

26. And does the hawk remain steady by your wisdom, having spread out her wings unmoved, looking toward the region of the south?

27. உன் கற்பனையினாலே கழுகு உயரப் பறந்து, உயரத்திலே தன் கூட்டைக் கட்டுமோ?

27. And does the eagle rise at your command, and the vulture remain sitting over his nest,

28. அது கன்மலையிலும், கன்மலையின் சிகரத்திலும், அரணான ஸ்தலத்திலும் தங்கி வாசம்பண்ணும். றல்.

28. on a crag of a rock, and in a secret [place]?

29. அங்கேயிருந்து இரையை நோக்கும்; அதின் கண்கள் தூரத்திலிருந்து அதைப் பார்க்கும்.

29. From there he seeks food, his eyes observe from afar.

30. அதின் குஞ்சுகள் இரத்தத்தை உறிஞ்சும்; பிணம் எங்கேயோ அங்கே கழுகு சேரும் என்றார்.

30. And his young ones roll themselves in blood, and wherever the carcasses may be, immediately they are found.
