1. வரையாடுகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ? மான்கள் குட்டிபோடுகிறதைக் கவனித்தாயோ?

1. Do you know the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [Or] can you mark when the hinds calve?

2. அவைகள் சினைப்பட்டிருந்து வருகிற மாதங்களை நீ எண்ணி, அவைகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ?

2. Can you number the months that they fulfill? Or do you know the time when they bring forth?

3. அவைகள் நொந்து குனிந்து தங்கள் குட்டிகளைப் போட்டு, தங்கள் வேதனைகளை நீக்கிவிடும்.

3. They bow themselves, they bring forth their young, They cast out their pains.

4. அவைகளின் குட்டிகள் பலத்து, வனத்திலே வளர்ந்து, அவைகளண்டைக்குத் திரும்ப வராமற்போய்விடும்.

4. Their young ones become strong, they grow up in the open field; They go forth, and don't return again.

5. காட்டுக்கழுதையைத் தன்னிச்சையாய்த் திரியவிட்டவர் யார்? அந்தக் காட்டுக்கழுதையின் கட்டுகளை அவிழ்த்தவர் யார்?

5. Who has sent out the wild donkey free? Or who has loosed the bonds of the swift donkey,

6. அதற்கு நான் வனாந்தரத்தை வீடாகவும், உவர்நிலத்தை வாசஸ்தலமாகவும் கொடுத்தேன்.

6. Whose home I have made the wilderness, And the salt land his dwelling-place?

7. அது பட்டணத்தின் இரைச்சலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணி, ஓட்டுகிறவனுடைய கூக்குரலை மதிக்கிறதில்லை.

7. He scorns the tumult of the city, Neither does he hear the shoutings of the driver.

8. அது மலைகளிலே தன் மேய்ச்சலைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, சகலவிதப் பச்சைப்பூண்டுகளையும் தேடித்திரியும்.

8. The range of the mountains is his pasture, And he searches after every green thing.

9. காண்டாமிருகம் உன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கச் சம்மதிக்குமோ? அது உன் முன்னணைக்கு முன்பாக இராத்தங்குமோ?

9. Will the wild-ox be content to serve you? Or will he spend the night by your crib?

10. படைச்சால்களை உழ நீ காண்டாமிருகத்தைக் கயிறுபோட்டு ஏரிலே பூட்டுவாயோ? அது உனக்கு இசைந்து பரம்படிக்குமோ?

10. Can you bind the wild-ox with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after you?

11. அது அதிக பெலமுள்ளதென்று நீ நம்பி அதினிடத்தில் வேலை வாங்குவாயோ?

11. Will you trust him, because his strength is great? Or will you leave to him your labor?

12. உன் தானியத்தை அது உன்வீட்டில் கொண்டுவந்து, உன் களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்க்கும் என்று நீ அதை நம்புவாயோ?

12. Will you confide in him, that he will bring home your seed, And gather [the grain] of your threshing-floor?

13. தீக்குருவிகள் தங்கள் செட்டைகளை அசைவாட்டி ஓடுகிற ஓட்டம், நாரை தன் செட்டைகளாலும் இறகுகளாலும் பறக்கிறதற்குச் சமானமல்லவோ?

13. The wings of the ostrich wave proudly; [But] is it a pious plumage and down?

14. அது தன் முட்டைகளைத் தரையிலே இட்டு, அவைகளை மணலிலே அனலுறைக்க வைத்துவிட்டுப்போய்,

14. For she leaves her eggs on the earth, And warms them in the dust,

15. காலால் மிதிபட்டு உடைந்துபோகும் என்பதையும், காட்டுமிருகங்கள் அவைகளை மிதித்துவிடும் என்பதையும் நினைக்கிறதில்லை.

15. And forgets that the foot may crush them, Or that the wild beast may trample them.

16. அது தன் குஞ்சுகள் தன்னுடையதல்லாததுபோல அவைகளைக்காக்காத கடினகுணமுள்ளதாயிருக்கும்; அவைகளுக்காக அதற்குக் கவலையில்லாதபடியினால் அது பட்ட வருத்தம் விருதாவாம்.

16. She deals harshly with her young ones, as if they were not hers: Though her labor is in vain, [she is] without fear;

17. தேவன் அதற்குப் புத்தியைக் கொடாமல், ஞானத்தை விலக்கிவைத்தார்.

17. Because God has deprived her of wisdom, Neither has he imparted to her understanding.

18. அது செட்டை விரித்து எழும்பும்போது, குதிரையையும் அதின்மேல் ஏறியிருக்கிறவனையும் அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

18. What time she lifts up herself on high, She scorns the horse and his rider.

19. குதிரைக்கு நீ வீரியத்தைக் கொடுத்தாயோ? அதின் தொண்டையில் குமுறலை வைத்தாயோ?

19. Have you given the horse [his] might? Have you clothed his neck with the quivering mane?

20. ஒரு வெட்டுக்கிளியை மிரட்டுகிறதுபோல அதை மிரட்டுவாயோ? அதினுடைய நாசியின் செருக்கு பயங்கரமாயிருக்கிறது.

20. Have you made him to leap as a locust? The grandeur of his snorting is terrible.

21. அது தரையிலே தாளடித்து, தன் பலத்தில் களித்து, ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்தவருக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்படும்.

21. He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength: He goes out to meet the armed men.

22. அது கலங்காமலும், பட்டயத்துக்குப் பின்வாங்காமலுமிருந்து, பயப்படுதலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

22. He mocks at fear, and is not dismayed; Neither does he turn back from the sword.

23. அம்பறாத்தூணியும், மின்னுகிற ஈட்டியும், கேடகமும் அதின்மேல் கலகலக்கும்போது,

23. The quiver rattles against him, The flashing spear and the javelin.

24. கர்வமும் மூர்க்கமுங்கொண்டு தரையை விழுங்கிவிடுகிறதுபோல் அநுமானித்து, எக்காளத்தின் தொனிக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பாயும்.

24. He swallows the ground with fierceness and rage; Neither does he believe that it is the voice of the trumpet.

25. எக்காளம் தொனிக்கும்போது அது நிகியென்று கனைக்கும்; யுத்தத்தையும், படைத்தலைவரின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பையும், சேனைகளின் ஆரவாரத்தையும் தூரத்திலிருந்து மோப்பம்பிடிக்கும்.

25. As often as the trumpet [sounds] he says, Aha! And he smells the battle far off, The thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

26. உன் புத்தியினாலே ராஜாளி பறந்து, தெற்குக்கு எதிராகத் தன் செட்டைகளை விரிக்கிறதோ?

26. Is it by your wisdom that the hawk soars, [And] stretches her wings toward the south?

27. உன் கற்பனையினாலே கழுகு உயரப் பறந்து, உயரத்திலே தன் கூட்டைக் கட்டுமோ?

27. Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up, And makes her nest on high?

28. அது கன்மலையிலும், கன்மலையின் சிகரத்திலும், அரணான ஸ்தலத்திலும் தங்கி வாசம்பண்ணும். றல்.

28. On the cliff she dwells, and makes her home, On the point of the cliff, and the stronghold.

29. அங்கேயிருந்து இரையை நோக்கும்; அதின் கண்கள் தூரத்திலிருந்து அதைப் பார்க்கும்.

29. From there she spies out the prey; Her eyes watch it far off.

30. அதின் குஞ்சுகள் இரத்தத்தை உறிஞ்சும்; பிணம் எங்கேயோ அங்கே கழுகு சேரும் என்றார்.

30. Her young ones also suck up blood: And where the slain are, there she is.
