1. தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய புத்திரரில் ஒருவனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்த ஒரு ஸ்திரீ எலிசாவைப் பார்த்து: உமது அடியானாகிய என் புருஷன் இறந்துபோனான்; உமது அடியான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடந்தான் என்பதை அறிவீர்; கடன் கொடுத்தவன் இப்போது என் இரண்டு குமாரரையும் தனக்கு அடிமைகளாக்கிக்கொள்ளவந்தான் என்றாள்.

1. And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets hath cried unto Elisha, saying, 'Thy servant, my husband, is dead, and thou hast known that thy servant was fearing Jehovah, and the lender hath come to take my two children to him for servants.'

2. எலிசா அவளை நோக்கி: நான் உனக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்? வீட்டில் உன்னிடத்தில் என்ன இருக்கிறது சொல் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: ஒரு குடம் எண்ணெய் அல்லாமல் உமது அடியாளுடைய வீட்டில் வேறொன்றும் இல்லை என்றாள்.

2. And Elisha saith unto her, 'What do I do for thee? declare to me, what hast thou in the house?' and she saith, 'Thy maid-servant hath nothing in the house except a pot of oil.'

3. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ போய், உன்னுடைய அயல்வீட்டுக்காரர் எல்லாரிடத்திலும் அநேகம் வெறும்பாத்திரங்களைக் கேட்டுவாங்கி,

3. And he saith, 'Go, ask for thee vessels from without, from all thy neighbours -- empty vessels -- let [them] not be few;

4. உள்ளேபோய், உன் பிள்ளைகளுடன் உள்ளே நின்று கதவைப் பூட்டி, அந்தப் பாத்திரங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் வார்த்து, நிறைந்ததை ஒரு பக்கத்தில் வை என்றான்.

4. and thou hast entered, and shut the door upon thee, and upon thy sons, and hast poured out into all these vessels, and the full ones thou dost remove.'

5. அவள் அவனிடத்திலிருந்துபோய், தன் பிள்ளைகளுடன் கதவைப் பூட்டிக்கொண்டு, இவர்கள் பாத்திரங்களை அவளிடத்தில் கொடுக்க, அவள் அவைகளில் வார்த்தாள்.

5. And she goeth from him, and shutteth the door upon her, and upon her sons; they are bringing nigh unto her, and she is pouring out,

6. அந்தப் பாத்திரங்கள் நிறைந்தபின், அவள் தன் மகன் ஒருவனை நோக்கி: இன்னும் ஒரு பாத்திரம் கொண்டுவா என்றாள். அதற்கு அவன்: வேறே பாத்திரம் இல்லை என்றான்; அப்பொழுது எண்ணெய் நின்றுபோயிற்று.

6. and it cometh to pass, at the filling of the vessels, that she saith unto her son, 'Bring nigh unto me a vessel more,' and he saith unto her, 'There is not a vessel more;' and the oil stayeth.

7. அவள் போய் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்கு அதை அறிவித்தாள். அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ போய் அந்த எண்ணெயை விற்று, உன் கடனைத் தீர்த்து, மீந்ததைக்கொண்டு நீயும் உன் பிள்ளைகளும் ஜீவனம் பண்ணுங்கள் என்றான்.

7. And she cometh and declareth to the man of God, and he saith, 'Go, sell the oil, and repay thy loan; and thou [and] thy sons do live of the rest.'

8. பின்பு ஒரு நாள் எலிசா சூனேமுக்குப் போயிருக்கும்போது, அங்கேயிருந்த கனம்பொருந்திய ஒரு ஸ்திரீ அவனை போஜனம்பண்ண வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டாள்; அப்படியே அவன் பயணப்பட்டு வருகிறபோதெல்லாம் போஜனம்பண்ணும்படி அங்கே வந்து தங்குவான்.

8. And the day cometh that Elisha passeth over unto Shunem, and there [is] a great woman, and she layeth hold on him to eat bread, and it cometh to pass, at the time of his passing over, he turneth aside thither to eat bread,

9. அவள் தன் புருஷனை நோக்கி: இதோ, நம்மிடத்தில் எப்போதும் வந்துபோகிற தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய இவர் பரிசுத்தவான் என்று காண்கிறேன்.

9. and she saith unto her husband, 'Lo, I pray thee, I have known that a holy man of God he is, passing over by us continually;

10. நாம் மெத்தையின்மேல் ஒருசிறிய அறைவீட்டைக் கட்டி, அதில் அவருக்கு ஒரு கட்டிலையும், மேஜையையும், நாற்காலியையும், குத்துவிளக்கையும் வைப்போம்; அவர் நம்மிடத்தில் வரும்போது அங்கே தங்கலாம் என்றாள்.

10. let us make, I pray thee, a little upper chamber of the wall, and we set for him there a bed, and a table, and a high seat, and a candlestick; and it hath been, in his coming in unto us, he doth turn aside thither.'

11. ஒரு நாள் அவன் அங்கே வந்து, அந்த அறை வீட்டிலே தங்கி, அங்கே படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

11. And the day cometh, that he cometh in thither, and turneth aside unto the upper chamber, and lieth there,

12. அவன் தன் வேலைக்காரனாகிய கேயாசை நோக்கி: இந்தச் சூனேமியாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அவளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தான்; அவள் அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றாள்.

12. and he saith unto Gehazi his young man, 'Call for this Shunammite;' and he calleth for her, and she standeth before him.

13. அவன் கேயாசியைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, இப்படிப்பட்ட சகல சலக்கரணையோடும் எங்களை விசாரித்து வருகிறாயே, உனக்கு நான் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் ராஜாவினிடத்திலாவது சேனாபதியினிடத்திலாவது உனக்காக நான் பேசவேண்டிய காரியம் உண்டோ என்று அவளைக் கேள் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: என் ஜனத்தின் நடுவே நான் சுகமாய்க் குடியிருக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

13. And he saith to him, 'Say, I pray thee, unto her, Lo, thou hast troubled thyself concerning us with all this trouble; what -- to do for thee? is it to speak for thee unto the king, or unto the head of the host?' and she saith, 'In the midst of my people I am dwelling.'

14. அவளுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்று கேயாசியை அவன் கேட்டதற்கு; அவன், அவளுக்குப் பிள்ளை இல்லை, அவள் புருஷனும் பெரிய வயதுள்ளவன் என்றான்.

14. And he saith, 'And what -- to do for her?' and Gehazi saith, 'Verily she hath no son, and her husband [is] aged.'

15. அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவளைக் கூப்பிடு என்றான்; அவளைக் கூப்பிட்டபோது, அவள் வந்து வாசற்படியிலே நின்றாள்.

15. And he saith, 'Call for her;' and he calleth for her, and she standeth at the opening,

16. அப்பொழுது அவன்: ஒரு பிராண உற்பத்திகாலத்திட்டத்திலே ஒருகுமாரனை அணைத்துக்கொண்டிருப்பாய் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: ஏது? தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, உமது அடியாளுக்கு அபத்தம் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றாள்.

16. and he saith, 'At this season, according to the time of life, thou art embracing a son;' and she saith, 'Nay, my lord, O man of God, do not lie unto thy maid-servant.'

17. அந்த ஸ்திரீ கர்ப்பந்தரித்து, எலிசா தன்னோடே சொன்னபடி, ஒரு உற்பத்திகாலத்திட்டத்தில் ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

17. And the woman conceiveth and beareth a son, at this season, according to the time of life, that Elisha spake of unto her.

18. அந்தப் பிள்ளை வளர்ந்தான், ஒரு நாள் அவன் அறுப்பறுக்கிறவர்களிடத்திலிருந்த தன் தகப்பனண்டைக்குப் போயிருக்கும்போது,

18. And the lad groweth, and the day cometh that he goeth out unto his father, unto the reapers,

19. தன் தகப்பனைப் பார்த்து: என் தலை நோகிறது, என் தலை நோகிறது என்றான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் வேலைக்காரனிடத்தில், இவனை இவன் தாயினிடத்தில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய் விடு என்றான்.

19. and he saith unto his father, 'My head, my head;' and he saith unto the young man, 'Bear him unto his mother;'

20. அவனை எடுத்து, அவன் தாயினிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனபோது, அவன் மத்தியானமட்டும் அவள் மடியில் இருந்து செத்துப்போனான்.

20. and he beareth him, and bringeth him in unto his mother, and he sitteth on her knees till the noon, and dieth.

21. அப்பொழுது அவள் ஏறிப்போய், அவனை தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் கட்டிலின்மேல் வைத்து, அவன் வைக்கப்பட்ட அறையின் கதவைப் பூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய்,

21. And she goeth up, and layeth him on the bed of the man of God, and shutteth [the door] upon him, and goeth out,

22. தன் புருஷனிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி: நான் சீக்கிரமாய் தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் இருக்கும் இடமட்டும் போய்வரும்படிக்கு; வேலைக்காரரில் ஒருவனையும் ஒருகழுதையையும் எனக்கு அனுப்பவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

22. and calleth unto her husband, and saith, 'Send, I pray thee, to me, one of the young men, and one of the asses, and I run unto the man of God, and return.'

23. அப்பொழுது அவன்: இது அமாவாசியும் அல்ல ஓய்வு நாளும் அல்லவே; நீ இன்றைக்கு அவரிடத்துக்குப் போகவேண்டியது என்ன என்று கேட்கச் சொன்னான். அதற்கு அவள்: எல்லாம் சரிதான், நான் போகவேண்டியதிருக்கிறது என்று சொல்லியனுப்பி,

23. And he saith, 'Wherefore art thou going unto him to-day? -- neither new moon nor sabbath!' and she saith, 'Peace [to thee]!'

24. கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து ஏறி, தன் வேலைக்காரனை நோக்கி: இதை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோ; நான் உனக்குச் சொன்னால் ஒழிய, போகிற வழியில் எங்கும் ஓட்டத்தை நிறுத்தாதே என்று சொல்லிப் புறப்பட்டு,

24. And she saddleth the ass, and saith unto her young man, 'Lead, and go, do not restrain riding for me, except I have said [so] to thee.'

25. கர்மேல் பர்வதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனுடைய மனுஷனிடத்திற்குப் போனாள்; தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் தூரத்திலே அவளை வரக்கண்டு, தன் வேலைக்காரனாகிய கேயாசியைப் பார்த்து: அதோ சூனேமியாள் வருகிறாள்.

25. And she goeth, and cometh in unto the man of God, unto the hill of Carmel, and it cometh to pass, at the man of God's seeing her from over-against, that he saith unto Gehazi his young man, 'Lo, this Shunammite;

26. நீ அவளுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு ஓடி, நீ சுகமாயிருக்கிறாயா? உன் புருஷன் சுகமாயிருக்கிறானா? அந்தப் பிள்ளை சுகமாயிருக்கிறதா என்று அவளிடத்தில் கேள் என்றான். அவள்: சுகந்தான் என்று சொல்லி,

26. now, run, I pray thee, to meet her, and say to her, Is there peace to thee? is there peace to thy husband? is there peace to the lad?' and she saith, 'Peace.'

27. பர்வதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனுடைய மனுஷனிடத்தில் வந்து, அவன் காலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டாள்; அப்பொழுது கேயாசி அவளை விலக்கிவிட வந்தான்; தேவனுடைய மனுஷன்: அவளைத் தடுக்காதே; அவள் ஆத்துமா துக்கமாயிருக்கிறது; கர்த்தர் அதை எனக்கு அறிவியாமல் மறைத்துவைத்தார் என்றான்.

27. And she cometh in unto the man of God, unto the hill, and layeth hold on his feet, and Gehazi cometh nigh to thrust her away, and the man of God saith, 'Let her alone, for her soul [is] bitter to her, and Jehovah hath hidden [it] from me, and hath not declared [it] to me.'

28. அப்பொழுது அவள், நான் என் ஆண்டவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குமாரனை வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டதுண்டா? எனக்கு அபத்தம் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்று நான் சொல்லவில்லையா என்றாள்.

28. And she saith, 'Did I ask a son from my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me?'

29. அப்பொழுது அவன் கேயாசியைப் பார்த்து: நீ உன் இடையைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, என் தடியை உன் கையில் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, வழியில் ஒருவனைச் சந்தித்தாலும் அவனை வினவாமலும், உன்னை ஒருவன் வினவினாலும் அவனுக்கு மறுமொழி சொல்லாமலும் போய், என் தடியை அந்தப் பிள்ளையின் முகத்தின்மேல் வை என்றான்.

29. And he saith to Gehazi, 'Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go; when thou dost meet a man, thou dost not salute him; and when a man doth salute thee, thou dost not answer him; and thou hast laid my staff on the face of the youth.'

30. பிள்ளையின் தாயோ: நான் உம்மை விடுகிறதில்லை என்று கர்த்தரின் ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்திருந்து அவள் பின்னே போனான்.

30. And the mother of the youth saith, 'Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth -- if I leave thee;' and he riseth and goeth after her.

31. கேயாசி அவர்களுக்கு முன்னே போய், அந்தத் தடியைப் பிள்ளையின் முகத்தின்மேல் வைத்தான்; ஆனாலும் சத்தமும் இல்லை, உணர்ச்சியும் இல்லை; ஆகையால் அவன் திரும்பி அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்து: பிள்ளை விழிக்கவில்லை என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தான்.

31. And Gehazi hath passed on before them, and layeth the staff on the face of the youth, and there is no voice, and there is no attention, and he turneth back to meet him, and declareth to him, saying, 'The youth hath not awaked.'

32. எலிசா வீட்டிற்குள் வந்தபோது, இதோ, இந்தப் பிள்ளை அவன் கட்டிலின்மேல் செத்துக்கிடந்தான்.

32. And Elisha cometh in to the house, and lo, the youth is dead, laid on his bed,

33. and he goeth in and shutteth the door upon them both, and prayeth unto Jehovah.

34. And he goeth up, and lieth down on the lad, and putteth his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands, and stretcheth himself upon him, and the flesh of the lad becometh warm;

35. அவன் எழுந்து, அறைவீட்டில் இங்கும் அங்கும் உலாவி, திரும்பக்கிட்டப் போய் அவன்மேல் குப்புறப்படுத்தான்; அப்பொழுது அந்தப் பிள்ளை ஏழுதரம் தும்மித் தன் கண்களைத் திறந்தான்.

35. and he turneth back and walketh in the house, once hither and once thither, and goeth up and stretcheth himself upon him, and the youth sneezeth till seven times, and the youth openeth his eyes.

36. அப்பொழுது அவன்: கேயாசியைக் கூப்பிட்டு, அந்தச் சூனேமியாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அவளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தான்; அவள் அவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது; அவன், உன் குமாரனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோ என்றான்.

36. And he calleth unto Gehazi, and saith, 'Call unto this Shunammite;' and he calleth her, and she cometh in unto him, and he saith, 'Lift up thy son.'

37. And she goeth in, and falleth at his feet, and boweth herself to the earth, and lifteth up her son, and goeth out.

38. எலிசா கில்காலுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய் இருக்கையில், தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிற்று; தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரர், அவனுக்கு முன்பாக உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்; அவன் தன் வேலைக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ பெரிய பானையை அடுப்பிலே வைத்துத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரருக்குக் கூழ்காய்ச்சு என்றான்.

38. And Elisha hath turned back to Gilgal, and the famine [is] in the land, and the sons of the prophets are sitting before him, and he saith to his young man, 'Set on the great pot, and boil pottage for the sons of the prophets.'

39. ஒருவன் கீரைகளைப் பறிக்க வெளியிலேபோய், ஒரு பேய்க்கொம்மட்டிக் கொடியைக் கண்டு, அதன் காய்களை மடிநிறைய அறுத்துவந்து, அவைகளை அரிந்து கூழ்ப்பானையிலே போட்டான்; அது இன்னதென்று அவர்களுக்குத் தெரியாதிருந்தது.

39. And one goeth out unto the field to gather herbs, and findeth a vine of the field, and gathereth of it gourds of the field -- the fulness of his garment -- and cometh in and splitteth [them] into the pot of pottage, for they knew [them] not;

40. சாப்பிட அதை ஜனங்களுக்கு வார்த்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் அந்தக் கூழில் எடுத்துச் சாப்பிடுகிறபோது, அதைச் சாப்பிடக்கூடாமல்: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, பானையில் சாவு இருக்கிறது என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.

40. and they pour out for the men to eat, and it cometh to pass at their eating of the pottage, that they have cried out, and say, 'Death [is] in the pot, O man of God!' and they have not been able to eat.

41. அப்பொழுது அவன், மாவைக் கொண்டுவரச்சொல்லி, அதைப் பானையிலே போட்டு, ஜனங்கள் சாப்பிடும்படி அவர்களுக்கு வார் என்றான்; அப்புறம் பானையிலே தோஷம் இல்லாமற்போயிற்று.

41. And he saith, 'Then bring ye meal;' and he casteth into the pot, and saith, 'Pour out for the people, and they eat;' and there was no evil thing in the pot.

42. பின்பு பாகால் சலீஷாவிலிருந்து ஒரு மனுஷன் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்கு முதற்பலனான வாற்கோதுமையின் இருபது அப்பங்களையும் தாள் கதிர்களையும் கொண்டுவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: ஜனங்களுக்குச் சாப்பிடக்கொடு என்றான்.

42. And a man hath come from Baal-Shalishah, and bringeth in to the man of God bread of first-fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in its husk, and he saith, 'Give to the people, and they eat.'

43. அதற்கு அவனுடைய பணிவிடைக்காரன்: இதை நான் நூறுபேருக்கு முன் வைப்பது எப்படி என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: அதை ஜனங்களுக்குச் சாப்பிடக்கொடு; சாப்பிட்ட பிற்பாடு இன்னும் மீதியுண்டாயிருக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

43. And his minister saith, 'What -- do I give this before a hundred men?' and he saith, 'Give to the people, and they eat, for thus said Jehovah, Eat and leave;'

44. அப்பொழுது அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக அதை வைத்தான்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டதுமன்றி மீதியும் இருந்தது.

44. and he giveth before them, and they eat and leave, according to the word of Jehovah.
