1. இதற்குப்பின்பு, அப்சலோம் இரதங்களையும் குதிரைகளையும், தனக்கு முன் ஓட ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் சம்பாதித்தான்.

1. After this, Absalo prepared him charettes & horses, and fiftie men to runne before him.

2. மேலும் அப்சலோம் காலைதோறும் எழுந்திருந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசலுக்குப் போகிற வழி ஓரத்திலே நின்றுகொண்டு, எவனாகிலும் தனக்கு இருக்கிற வழக்கு முகாந்தரமாய் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காகப் போகும்போது, அவனை அழைத்து, நீ எந்த ஊரான் என்று கேட்பான்; அவன் உமது அடியான் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் ஒன்றுக்கடுத்த இன்ன ஊரான் என்றால்,

2. And Absalom rose vp early, and stoode in the place of the entring in of the gate: And euery man that had any matter and came to the king for iudgement, him did Absalom cal vnto him, and sayde: Of what citie art thou? He aunswered: Thy seruaunt is of one of the tribes of Israel.

3. அப்பொழுது அப்சலோம் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, உன் காரியம் நேர்மையும் நியாயமுமாயிருக்கிறது; ஆனாலும் ராஜாவினிடத்திலே உன் காரியத்தை விசாரிப்பார் ஒருவரும் இல்லை என்பான்.

3. And Absalom said vnto him: See, thy matters are good and righteous, but there is no man [deputed] of the king to heare thee.

4. பின்னும் அப்சலோம்: வழக்கு வியாஜ்யமுள்ளவர்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, நான் அவர்களுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்யும்படிக்கு, என்னை தேசத்திலே நியாயாதிபதியாக வைத்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும் என்பான்.

4. Absalom sayde moreouer: Oh, that I were made iudge in the land, that euery man which hath any plea and matter in the lawe, might come to me, and that I might do him iustice.

5. எவனாகிலும் ஒருவன் அவனை வணங்கவரும்போது, அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டி அவனைத் தழுவி, முத்தஞ்செய்வான்.

5. And when any man came nye to him, and dyd him obeysaunce, he put foorth his hande, and toke him to him, and kissed him.

6. இந்தப்பிரகாரமாக அப்சலோம் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காக வரும் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கெல்லாம் செய்து, இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷருடைய இருதயத்தைக் கவர்ந்துகொண்டான்.

6. And on this maner dyd Absalom to al Israel that came to the king for iudgement: so Absalom stale the heartes of the men of Israel.

7. நாற்பது வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அப்சலோம் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பண்ணின என் பொருத்தனையை எப்ரோனில் செலுத்தும்படிக்கு நான் போக உத்தரவுகொடும்.

7. And after fourtie yeres, Absalom said vnto the king: I pray thee let me go to Hebron, & pay my vowe which I haue vowed vnto the Lorde:

8. கர்த்தர் என்னை எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பி வரப்பண்ணினால், கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்வேன் என்று உமது அடியானாகிய நான் சீரியா தேசத்தில் கேசூரிலே குடியிருக்கும்போது, பொருத்தனை பண்ணினேன் என்றான்.

8. For thy seruaunt vowed a vowe (when I was in Gesur in Siria) saying: If the Lorde shall bring me againe in deede to Hierusalem, I wil serue the Lorde.

9. அதற்கு ராஜா, சமாதானத்தோடே போ என்றான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்து எப்ரோனுக்கு போனான்.

9. And the king said vnto him: Go in peace. And so he arose, and went to Hebron.

10. அப்சலோம் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களுக்கெல்லாம் வேவுகாரரை அனுப்பி, நீங்கள் எக்காளத்தொனியைக் கேட்கும்போது, அப்சலோம் எப்ரோனிலே ராஜாவானான் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொல்லி வைத்திருந்தான்.

10. But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying: Assoone as ye heare the voyce of the trumpet blow, ye shall say, Absalom raigneth in Hebro.

11. எருசலேமிலிருந்து வரவழைக்கப்பட்ட இருநூறுபேர் அப்சலோமோடே கூடப்போனார்கள்; அவர்கள் வஞ்சகமின்றி அறியாமையினால் போனார்கள்.

11. And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Hierusalem, that were called: And they went with pure heartes, not knowing of any thing.

12. அப்சலோம் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தும் போது, தாவீதின் ஆலோசனைக்காரனாகிய அகித்தோப்பேல் என்னும் கீலோனியனையும் அவன் ஊராகிய கீலோவிலிருந்து வரவழைப்பித்தான்; அப்படியே கட்டுப்பாடு பலத்து, ஜனங்கள் அப்சலோமினிடத்தில் திரளாய் வந்து கூடினார்கள்.

12. And Absalom sent for Ahithopel the Gilonite Dauids counseller, fro his citie Gilo, while he offered sacrifices, and there was wrought strong treason: For the people went and increased with Absalom.

13. அதை அறிவிக்கிற ஒருவன் தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒவ்வொருவருடைய இருதயமும் அப்சலோமைப் பற்றிப்போகிறது என்றான்.

13. And ther came a messenger to Dauid, and sayde: The heartes of the men of Israel are turned after Absalom.

14. அப்பொழுது தாவீது எருசலேமிலே தன்னிடத்திலுள்ள தன்னுடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரையும் நோக்கி: எழுந்து ஓடிப்போவோம், இல்லாவிட்டால் நாம் அப்சலோமுக்குத் தப்ப இடமில்லை; அவன் தீவிரித்து நம்மிடத்தில் வந்து, நம்மைப் பிடித்து, நம்மேல் பொல்லாப்பு வரப்பண்ணி, நகரத்தைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் சங்காரம்பண்ணாதபடிக்குத் தீவிரமாய்ப் புறப்படுங்கள் என்றான்.

14. And Dauid said vnto all his seruautes that were with him at Hierusalem: Up, that we may flee, for we shall not els escape from Absalom: Make speede to departe, lest he come sodenly & catche vs, and bring euyll vpon vs, and smyte the citie with the edge of the sworde.

15. ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரர் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிடும் காரியத்தையெல்லாம் செய்ய உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

15. And the kinges seruauntes sayd vnto him: Beholde, thy seruauntes are redy to do whatsoeuer my lord the king shall appoynt.

16. அப்படியே ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய வீட்டார் எல்லாரும் கால்நடையாய்ப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; வீட்டைக்காக்க ராஜா மறுமனையாட்டிகளாகிய பத்து ஸ்திரீகளைப் பின்வைத்தான்.

16. And the king departed, and al his housholde at his feete: And the king left ten concubines to kepe the house.

17. ராஜாவும் சமஸ்த ஜனங்களும் கால்நடையாய்ப் புறப்பட்டு, சற்றுத்தூரம் போய், ஒரு இடத்திலே தரித்து நின்றார்கள்.

17. And the king went foorth and all the people at his feete, and taried in a place that was farre of.

18. அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும், கிரேத்தியர் யாவரும், பிலேத்தியர் யாவரும் அவன் பக்கத்திலே நடந்து போனார்கள்; காத்தூரிலிருந்து கால்நடையாய் வந்திருந்த அறுநூறுபேராகிய கித்தியர் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தார்கள்.

18. And al his seruauntes went about him: and all the Cerethites, and all the Phelethites, and all the Gethites, euen sixe hundred men whiche were come after him from Geth, went before the king.

19. அப்பொழுது ராஜா கித்தியனாகிய ஈத்தாயைப் பார்த்து: நீ எங்களுடனே கூட வருவானேன்? நீ திரும்பிப்போய், ராஜாவுடனேகூட இரு; நீ அந்நிய தேசத்தான்; நீ உன் இடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப் போகலாம்.

19. Then sayde the king to Ithai the Gethite: Wherfore commest thou with vs? Returne, and abyde with the king, for thou art a straunger, depart therfore to thy place.

20. நீ நேற்றுதானே வந்தாய்; இன்று நான் உன்னை எங்களோடே நடந்துவரும்படிக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகலாமா நான் போகக்கூடிய இடத்திற்குப் போகிறேன்; நீ உன் சகோதரரையும் அழைத்துகொண்டு திரும்பிப்போ; கிருபையும் உண்மையும் உன்னோடே இருப்பதாக என்றான்.

20. Thou camest yesterday, and should I vnquiet thee to day to go with vs? I will go whyther I can: Therfore returne thou, & cary againe thy brethren: Mercy and trueth be with thee.

21. ஆனாலும் ஈத்தாய் ராஜாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் எங்கேயிருப்பாரோ, அங்கே உமது அடியானும், செத்தாலும் பிழைத்தாலும், இருப்பான் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனையும் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

21. And Ithai aunswered the king, & said: As the Lord lyueth, and as my lord the king lyueth, in what place my lorde the king shalbe, whether in death or lyfe, euen there also will thy seruaunt be.

22. அப்பொழுது தாவீது ஈத்தாயை நோக்கி: நடந்துவா என்றான்; அப்படியே கித்தியனாகிய ஈத்தாயும் அவனுடைய எல்லா மனுஷரும் அவனோடிருக்கிற எல்லாப் பிள்ளைகளும் நடந்துபோனார்கள்.

22. And Dauid said to Ithai: Come then, and go forward. And Ithai the Gethite went foorth, and all his men, and all the children that were with him.

23. சகல ஜனங்களும் நடந்துபோகிறபோது, தேசத்தார் எல்லாரும் மகா சத்தமாய் அழுதார்கள்; ராஜா கீதரோன் ஆற்றைக் கடந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் போகிற வழியே நடந்துபோனார்கள்.

23. And all the countrey wepte with a loude voyce, & all the people went ouer: The king also him selfe passed ouer the brooke Cedron, and all the people went ouer towarde the waye that leadeth to the wildernesse.

24. சாதோக்கும் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியை அவனோடேகூட இருந்து சுமக்கிற சகல லேவியரும் வந்து, தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை அங்கே வைத்தார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் நகரத்திலிருந்து கடந்து தீருமட்டும், அபியத்தார் திரும்பிப்போயிருந்தான்.

24. And lo Sadoc also and all the Leuites were with him, & bare the arke of the appoyntment of God, and they set downe the arke of God, and Abiathar went vp, vntill the people were all come ouer, out of the citie.

25. ராஜா சாதோக்கை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோ; கர்த்தருடைய கண்களில் எனக்குக் கிருபை கிடைத்ததானால், நான் அதையும் அவர் வாசஸ்தலத்தையும் பார்க்கிறதற்கு, என்னைத் திரும்ப வரப்பண்ணுவார்.

25. And the king sayde vnto Sadoc, Cary the arke of God againe into the citie: If I shall finde fauour in the eyes of the Lorde, he will bring me againe, & shewe me both it, and the tabernacle therof.

26. அவர்: உன்மேல் எனக்குப் பிரியமில்லை என்பாராகில், இதோ, இங்கே இருக்கிறேன்; அவர் தம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி எனக்குச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

26. But if he thus say, I haue no lust vnto thee: beholde here am I, let hym do with me what semeth good in his eyes.

27. பின்னும் ராஜா ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கை நோக்கி: நீ ஞானதிருஷ்டிக்காரன் அல்லவோ? நீ சமாதானத்தோடே நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பு; உன் மகன் அகிமாசும் அபியத்தாரின் மகன் யோனத்தானுமாகிய உங்கள் குமாரர் இரண்டுபேரும் உங்களோடேகூடத் திரும்பிப் போகட்டும்.

27. The king sayde also vnto Sadoc the priest: Art not thou a Sear? Returne into the citie in peace, and take your two sonnes with you, Ahimaaz thy sonne, and Ionathan the sonne of Abiathar.

28. எனக்கு அறிவிக்கிறதற்கு உங்களிடத்திலிருந்து செய்தி வருமட்டும், நான் வனாந்தரத்தின் வெளிகளிலே தரித்திருப்பேன் என்றான்.

28. Behold, I wil tary in the fieldes of the wildernesse, vntil there come some word from you to be tolde me.

29. அப்படியே சாதோக்கும் அபியத்தாரும் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய், அங்கே இருந்தார்கள்.

29. Sadoc therfore and Abiathar caried the arke of God againe to Hierusalem, and they taried there.

30. தாவீது தன் முகத்தை மூடி, வெறுங்காலால் நடந்து அழுதுகொண்டு, ஒலிவமலையின்மேல் ஏறிப்போனான்; அவனோடிருந்த சகல ஜனங்களும் முகத்தை மூடி அழுதுகொண்டு ஏறினார்கள்.

30. And Dauid went vpon mount Oliuet, and wept as he went vp, and had his head couered, & went barefoote: And all the people that was with him, had euery man his head couered: & as they went vp, they wept.

31. அப்சலோமோடே கட்டுப்பாடு பண்ணினவர்களுடன் அகித்தோப்பேலும் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறான் என்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தாவீது: கர்த்தாவே, அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையைப் பயித்தியமாக்கிவிடுவீராக என்றான்.

31. And one tolde Dauid, saying: Ahithophel is one of them that haue conspired with Absalom. And Dauid sayde: O Lorde I pray thee, turne the counsell of Ahithophel into foolishnes.

32. தாவீது மலையின் உச்சிமட்டும் வந்து, அங்கே தேவனைப் பணிந்துகொண்டபோது, இதோ, அற்கியனாகிய ஊசாய் தன் வஸ்திரத்தைக் கிழித்துக் கொண்டு, தலையின்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டவனாய் அவனுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டான்.

32. When Dauid was come to the toppe of the mount, he worshipped God: and beholde, Husai the Arachite came against him, with his coate torne, and hauing earth vpon his head.

33. தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ என்னோடேகூட நடந்துவந்தால் எனக்குப் பாரமாயிருப்பாய்.

33. Unto whom Dauid sayde: If thou go with me, thou shalt be a burthen vnto me.

34. நீ நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அப்சலோமை நோக்கி: ராஜாவே, உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரனாயிருப்பேன்; முன் நான் உம்முடைய தகப்பனுக்கு ஊழியக்காரனாயிருந்தேன்; இப்போது நான் உமக்கு ஊழியக்காரன் என்றாயேயாகில், எனக்காக அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையை அபத்தமாக்குவாய்.

34. But if thou returne to the citie, and say vnto Absalom, I will be thy seruaunt O king: as I haue thus long ben thy fathers seruaunt, so am I nowe thy seruaunt, thou mayest for my sake destroy the counsel of Ahithophel.

35. உன்னோடே அங்கே சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா? ராஜாவின் வீட்டிலே பிறக்கிற ஏதேது செய்தி உண்டோ, என்னென்ன கேள்விப்படுகிறாயோ, அதையெல்லாம் சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பாய்.

35. And hast thou not there with thee Sadoc and Abiathar the priestes? therfore whatsoeuer thou shalt here out of the kings house, thou shalt shewe to Sadoc and Abiathar the priestes.

36. அங்கே அவர்களோடே சாதோக்கின் மகன் அகிமாசும், அபியத்தாரின் மகன் யோனத்தானும், அவர்கள் இரண்டு குமாரரும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; நீங்கள் கேள்விப்படுகிற செய்தியையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் வசமாய் எனக்கு அனுப்புவீர்களாக என்றான்.

36. And behold, they haue there with them their two sonnes, Ahimaaz Sadocs sonne, and Ionathan Abiathars sonne: by them also shal ye sende me all that ye can heare.

37. அப்படியே தாவீதின் சிநேகிதனாகிய ஊசாய் நகரத்திற்கு வந்தான்; அப்சலோமும் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தான்.

37. And so Husai Dauids freende went to the citie, and Absalom entred into Hierusalem.
