1. இதற்குப்பின்பு, அப்சலோம் இரதங்களையும் குதிரைகளையும், தனக்கு முன் ஓட ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் சம்பாதித்தான்.

1. And it came to pass after this that Absalom prepared for himself chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

2. மேலும் அப்சலோம் காலைதோறும் எழுந்திருந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசலுக்குப் போகிற வழி ஓரத்திலே நின்றுகொண்டு, எவனாகிலும் தனக்கு இருக்கிற வழக்கு முகாந்தரமாய் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காகப் போகும்போது, அவனை அழைத்து, நீ எந்த ஊரான் என்று கேட்பான்; அவன் உமது அடியான் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் ஒன்றுக்கடுத்த இன்ன ஊரான் என்றால்,

2. And Absalom rose early, and stood by the side of the way of the gate. And it came to pass that every man who had a cause came to the king for judgment. And Absalom cried to him, and said to him, Of what city are you? And he said, Your servant [is] of one of the tribes of Israel.

3. அப்பொழுது அப்சலோம் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, உன் காரியம் நேர்மையும் நியாயமுமாயிருக்கிறது; ஆனாலும் ராஜாவினிடத்திலே உன் காரியத்தை விசாரிப்பார் ஒருவரும் இல்லை என்பான்.

3. And Absalom said to him, See, your affairs [are] right and clear, yet you have no one [appointed] of the king to hear you.

4. பின்னும் அப்சலோம்: வழக்கு வியாஜ்யமுள்ளவர்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, நான் அவர்களுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்யும்படிக்கு, என்னை தேசத்திலே நியாயாதிபதியாக வைத்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும் என்பான்.

4. And Absalom said, O that one would make me a judge in the land; then every man who had a dispute or a cause would come to me, and I would judge him!

5. எவனாகிலும் ஒருவன் அவனை வணங்கவரும்போது, அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டி அவனைத் தழுவி, முத்தஞ்செய்வான்.

5. And it came to pass that when a man came near to bow down to him, that he stretched out his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.

6. இந்தப்பிரகாரமாக அப்சலோம் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காக வரும் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கெல்லாம் செய்து, இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷருடைய இருதயத்தைக் கவர்ந்துகொண்டான்.

6. And Absalom did after this manner to all Israel that came to the king for judgment; and Absalom gained the hearts of the men of Israel.

7. நாற்பது வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அப்சலோம் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பண்ணின என் பொருத்தனையை எப்ரோனில் செலுத்தும்படிக்கு நான் போக உத்தரவுகொடும்.

7. And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said to his father, I will go now, and pay my vows, which I vowed to the Lord in Hebron.

8. கர்த்தர் என்னை எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பி வரப்பண்ணினால், கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்வேன் என்று உமது அடியானாகிய நான் சீரியா தேசத்தில் கேசூரிலே குடியிருக்கும்போது, பொருத்தனை பண்ணினேன் என்றான்.

8. For your servant vowed a vow when I dwelt at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the Lord should indeed restore me to Jerusalem, then will I serve the Lord.

9. அதற்கு ராஜா, சமாதானத்தோடே போ என்றான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்து எப்ரோனுக்கு போனான்.

9. And the king said to him, Go in peace. And he arose and went to Hebron.

10. அப்சலோம் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களுக்கெல்லாம் வேவுகாரரை அனுப்பி, நீங்கள் எக்காளத்தொனியைக் கேட்கும்போது, அப்சலோம் எப்ரோனிலே ராஜாவானான் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொல்லி வைத்திருந்தான்.

10. And Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, When you hear the sound of the trumpet, then shall you say, Absalom has become king in Hebron.

11. எருசலேமிலிருந்து வரவழைக்கப்பட்ட இருநூறுபேர் அப்சலோமோடே கூடப்போனார்கள்; அவர்கள் வஞ்சகமின்றி அறியாமையினால் போனார்கள்.

11. And there went with Absalom two hundred chosen men from Jerusalem; and they went in their simplicity, and knew not anything.

12. அப்சலோம் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தும் போது, தாவீதின் ஆலோசனைக்காரனாகிய அகித்தோப்பேல் என்னும் கீலோனியனையும் அவன் ஊராகிய கீலோவிலிருந்து வரவழைப்பித்தான்; அப்படியே கட்டுப்பாடு பலத்து, ஜனங்கள் அப்சலோமினிடத்தில் திரளாய் வந்து கூடினார்கள்.

12. And Absalom sent to Ahithophel the Gilonite, the counselor of David, from his city, from Giloh, where he was sacrificing. And there was a strong conspiracy; and the people with Absalom were increasingly numerous.

13. அதை அறிவிக்கிற ஒருவன் தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒவ்வொருவருடைய இருதயமும் அப்சலோமைப் பற்றிப்போகிறது என்றான்.

13. And there came a messenger to David, saying, the heart of the men of Israel has gone after Absalom.

14. அப்பொழுது தாவீது எருசலேமிலே தன்னிடத்திலுள்ள தன்னுடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரையும் நோக்கி: எழுந்து ஓடிப்போவோம், இல்லாவிட்டால் நாம் அப்சலோமுக்குத் தப்ப இடமில்லை; அவன் தீவிரித்து நம்மிடத்தில் வந்து, நம்மைப் பிடித்து, நம்மேல் பொல்லாப்பு வரப்பண்ணி, நகரத்தைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் சங்காரம்பண்ணாதபடிக்குத் தீவிரமாய்ப் புறப்படுங்கள் என்றான்.

14. And David said to all his servants who were with him in Jerusalem, Rise, and let us flee, for we have no refuge from Absalom. Make haste and go, lest he overtake us speedily, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

15. ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரர் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிடும் காரியத்தையெல்லாம் செய்ய உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

15. And the king's servants said to the king, In all things which our lord the king chooses, behold, [we are] your servants.

16. அப்படியே ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய வீட்டார் எல்லாரும் கால்நடையாய்ப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; வீட்டைக்காக்க ராஜா மறுமனையாட்டிகளாகிய பத்து ஸ்திரீகளைப் பின்வைத்தான்.

16. And the king and all his house went out on foot. And the king left ten women from among his concubines to keep the house.

17. ராஜாவும் சமஸ்த ஜனங்களும் கால்நடையாய்ப் புறப்பட்டு, சற்றுத்தூரம் போய், ஒரு இடத்திலே தரித்து நின்றார்கள்.

17. And the king and all his servants went out on foot; and abode in a distant house.

18. அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும், கிரேத்தியர் யாவரும், பிலேத்தியர் யாவரும் அவன் பக்கத்திலே நடந்து போனார்கள்; காத்தூரிலிருந்து கால்நடையாய் வந்திருந்த அறுநூறுபேராகிய கித்தியர் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தார்கள்.

18. And all his servants passed on by his side, and every Cherethite, and every Pelethite, and they stood by the olive tree in the wilderness. And all the people marched near him, and all his court, and all the men of might, and all the men of war, six hundred; and they were present at his side. And every Cherethite, and every Pelethite, and all the six hundred Gittites that came on foot out from Gath, and they went on before the king.

19. அப்பொழுது ராஜா கித்தியனாகிய ஈத்தாயைப் பார்த்து: நீ எங்களுடனே கூட வருவானேன்? நீ திரும்பிப்போய், ராஜாவுடனேகூட இரு; நீ அந்நிய தேசத்தான்; நீ உன் இடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப் போகலாம்.

19. And the king said to Ittai the Gittite, Why do you also go with us? Return, and dwell with the king, for you are a stranger, and you have come forth as a sojourner out of your place.

20. நீ நேற்றுதானே வந்தாய்; இன்று நான் உன்னை எங்களோடே நடந்துவரும்படிக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகலாமா நான் போகக்கூடிய இடத்திற்குப் போகிறேன்; நீ உன் சகோதரரையும் அழைத்துகொண்டு திரும்பிப்போ; கிருபையும் உண்மையும் உன்னோடே இருப்பதாக என்றான்.

20. Whereas you came yesterday, shall I today cause you to travel with us, and shall you [thus] change your place? You came forth yesterday, and today shall I set you in motion to go along with us? I indeed will go wherever I may go: return then, and cause your brethren to return with you, and may the Lord deal mercifully and truly with you.

21. ஆனாலும் ஈத்தாய் ராஜாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் எங்கேயிருப்பாரோ, அங்கே உமது அடியானும், செத்தாலும் பிழைத்தாலும், இருப்பான் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனையும் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

21. And Ittai answered the king and said, [As] the Lord lives and as my lord the king lives, in the place wheresoever my lord shall be, whether it be for death or life, there shall your servant be.

22. அப்பொழுது தாவீது ஈத்தாயை நோக்கி: நடந்துவா என்றான்; அப்படியே கித்தியனாகிய ஈத்தாயும் அவனுடைய எல்லா மனுஷரும் அவனோடிருக்கிற எல்லாப் பிள்ளைகளும் நடந்துபோனார்கள்.

22. And the king said to Ittai, Come and pass over with me. So Ittai the Gittite and the king passed over, and all his servants, and all the multitude with him.

23. சகல ஜனங்களும் நடந்துபோகிறபோது, தேசத்தார் எல்லாரும் மகா சத்தமாய் அழுதார்கள்; ராஜா கீதரோன் ஆற்றைக் கடந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் போகிற வழியே நடந்துபோனார்கள்.

23. And all the country wept with a loud voice. And all the people passed by over the Brook of Kidron; and the king crossed the Brook Kidron. And all the people and the king passed on toward the way of the wilderness.

24. சாதோக்கும் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியை அவனோடேகூட இருந்து சுமக்கிற சகல லேவியரும் வந்து, தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை அங்கே வைத்தார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் நகரத்திலிருந்து கடந்து தீருமட்டும், அபியத்தார் திரும்பிப்போயிருந்தான்.

24. And behold also Zadok, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord. And they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had passed out of the city.

25. ராஜா சாதோக்கை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோ; கர்த்தருடைய கண்களில் எனக்குக் கிருபை கிடைத்ததானால், நான் அதையும் அவர் வாசஸ்தலத்தையும் பார்க்கிறதற்கு, என்னைத் திரும்ப வரப்பண்ணுவார்.

25. And the king said to Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I should find favor in the eyes of the Lord, then will He bring me back, and He will show me [both] it and its beauty.

26. அவர்: உன்மேல் எனக்குப் பிரியமில்லை என்பாராகில், இதோ, இங்கே இருக்கிறேன்; அவர் தம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி எனக்குச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

26. But if He should say thus, I have no pleasure in you; behold, [here] I am, let Him do to me according to that which is good in His sight.

27. பின்னும் ராஜா ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கை நோக்கி: நீ ஞானதிருஷ்டிக்காரன் அல்லவோ? நீ சமாதானத்தோடே நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பு; உன் மகன் அகிமாசும் அபியத்தாரின் மகன் யோனத்தானுமாகிய உங்கள் குமாரர் இரண்டுபேரும் உங்களோடேகூடத் திரும்பிப் போகட்டும்.

27. And the king said to Zadok the priest, Behold, you shall return to the city in peace, and Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar, your two sons with you.

28. எனக்கு அறிவிக்கிறதற்கு உங்களிடத்திலிருந்து செய்தி வருமட்டும், நான் வனாந்தரத்தின் வெளிகளிலே தரித்திருப்பேன் என்றான்.

28. Behold, I continue in arms in Araboth of the desert, until there come tidings from you to report to me.

29. அப்படியே சாதோக்கும் அபியத்தாரும் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய், அங்கே இருந்தார்கள்.

29. So Zadok and Abiathar brought back the ark of the Lord to Jerusalem, and it remained there.

30. தாவீது தன் முகத்தை மூடி, வெறுங்காலால் நடந்து அழுதுகொண்டு, ஒலிவமலையின்மேல் ஏறிப்போனான்; அவனோடிருந்த சகல ஜனங்களும் முகத்தை மூடி அழுதுகொண்டு ஏறினார்கள்.

30. And David went up by the ascent of [the Mount of] Olives, ascending and weeping, and had his head covered, and went barefoot. And all the people that were with him,[every man,] covered his head; and they went up, ascending and weeping.

31. அப்சலோமோடே கட்டுப்பாடு பண்ணினவர்களுடன் அகித்தோப்பேலும் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறான் என்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தாவீது: கர்த்தாவே, அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையைப் பயித்தியமாக்கிவிடுவீராக என்றான்.

31. And it was reported to David, saying, Ahithophel also [is] among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Lord my God, disconcert, I pray, the counsel of Ahithophel.

32. தாவீது மலையின் உச்சிமட்டும் வந்து, அங்கே தேவனைப் பணிந்துகொண்டபோது, இதோ, அற்கியனாகிய ஊசாய் தன் வஸ்திரத்தைக் கிழித்துக் கொண்டு, தலையின்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டவனாய் அவனுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டான்.

32. And David came as far as Ros, where he worshipped God. And behold, Hushai the chief friend of David came out to meet him, having torn his clothes, and dust [was] upon his head.

33. தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ என்னோடேகூட நடந்துவந்தால் எனக்குப் பாரமாயிருப்பாய்.

33. And David said to him, If you should go over with me, then will you be a burden to me;

34. நீ நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அப்சலோமை நோக்கி: ராஜாவே, உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரனாயிருப்பேன்; முன் நான் உம்முடைய தகப்பனுக்கு ஊழியக்காரனாயிருந்தேன்; இப்போது நான் உமக்கு ஊழியக்காரன் என்றாயேயாகில், எனக்காக அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையை அபத்தமாக்குவாய்.

34. but if you shall return to the city, and shall say to Absalom, your brethren have passed over, and the king your father has passed over after me: and now I am your servant, O king, permit me to live. At one time even of late I was the servant of your father, and now I [am] your humble servant- so shall you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.

35. உன்னோடே அங்கே சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா? ராஜாவின் வீட்டிலே பிறக்கிற ஏதேது செய்தி உண்டோ, என்னென்ன கேள்விப்படுகிறாயோ, அதையெல்லாம் சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பாய்.

35. And behold, Zadok and Abiathar the priests are with you; and it shall be that every word that you shall hear of the house of the king, you shall report it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

36. அங்கே அவர்களோடே சாதோக்கின் மகன் அகிமாசும், அபியத்தாரின் மகன் யோனத்தானும், அவர்கள் இரண்டு குமாரரும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; நீங்கள் கேள்விப்படுகிற செய்தியையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் வசமாய் எனக்கு அனுப்புவீர்களாக என்றான்.

36. Behold, their two sons are with them, Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar; and by them you shall report to me every word which you shall hear.

37. அப்படியே தாவீதின் சிநேகிதனாகிய ஊசாய் நகரத்திற்கு வந்தான்; அப்சலோமும் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தான்.

37. So Hushai the friend of David went into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
