1. இதற்குப்பின்பு, அப்சலோம் இரதங்களையும் குதிரைகளையும், தனக்கு முன் ஓட ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் சம்பாதித்தான்.

1. And it came to pass, after this, that Absolom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men, to run before him.

2. மேலும் அப்சலோம் காலைதோறும் எழுந்திருந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசலுக்குப் போகிற வழி ஓரத்திலே நின்றுகொண்டு, எவனாகிலும் தனக்கு இருக்கிற வழக்கு முகாந்தரமாய் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காகப் போகும்போது, அவனை அழைத்து, நீ எந்த ஊரான் என்று கேட்பான்; அவன் உமது அடியான் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் ஒன்றுக்கடுத்த இன்ன ஊரான் என்றால்,

2. And Absolom used to rise up early, and take his stand beside the way of the gate, and so it was when any man who had a controversy would come unto the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said: Of what city, art, thou? And he said, Of one of the tribes of Israel, is thy servant. And Absolom said unto him,

3. அப்பொழுது அப்சலோம் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, உன் காரியம் நேர்மையும் நியாயமுமாயிருக்கிறது; ஆனாலும் ராஜாவினிடத்திலே உன் காரியத்தை விசாரிப்பார் ஒருவரும் இல்லை என்பான்.

3. See! thy cause, is good and right, but, to hear it, thou hast no one, from the king.

4. பின்னும் அப்சலோம்: வழக்கு வியாஜ்யமுள்ளவர்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, நான் அவர்களுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்யும்படிக்கு, என்னை தேசத்திலே நியாயாதிபதியாக வைத்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும் என்பான்.

4. And Absalom said, Oh would that I were appointed to judge in the land! that, unto me, might come every man having a complaint or a defence, then would I see him righted.

5. எவனாகிலும் ஒருவன் அவனை வணங்கவரும்போது, அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டி அவனைத் தழுவி, முத்தஞ்செய்வான்.

5. Moreover, so it used to be, that, when any man came near to do him homage, he would put forth his hand, and lay hold of him, and kiss him.

6. இந்தப்பிரகாரமாக அப்சலோம் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காக வரும் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கெல்லாம் செய்து, இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷருடைய இருதயத்தைக் கவர்ந்துகொண்டான்.

6. And Absolom did, after this manner, to all Israel who came for judgment, unto the king, so Absolom stole away the heart of the men of Israel.

7. நாற்பது வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அப்சலோம் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பண்ணின என் பொருத்தனையை எப்ரோனில் செலுத்தும்படிக்கு நான் போக உத்தரவுகொடும்.

7. And it came to pass, at the end of forty years, that Absolom said unto the king Let me go, I pray thee, that I may pay my vow which I have vowed unto Yahweh, in Hebron;

8. கர்த்தர் என்னை எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பி வரப்பண்ணினால், கர்த்தருக்கு ஆராதனை செய்வேன் என்று உமது அடியானாகிய நான் சீரியா தேசத்தில் கேசூரிலே குடியிருக்கும்போது, பொருத்தனை பண்ணினேன் என்றான்.

8. for thy servant vowed, a vow, while I abode in Geshur in Syria, saying, If Yahweh, will but bring me back, unto Jerusalem, then will I serve Yahweh,

9. அதற்கு ராஜா, சமாதானத்தோடே போ என்றான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எழுந்து எப்ரோனுக்கு போனான்.

9. And the king said unto him Go and prosper! So he arose and went to Hebron.

10. அப்சலோம் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களுக்கெல்லாம் வேவுகாரரை அனுப்பி, நீங்கள் எக்காளத்தொனியைக் கேட்கும்போது, அப்சலோம் எப்ரோனிலே ராஜாவானான் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொல்லி வைத்திருந்தான்.

10. And Absolom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, When ye hear the sound of the horn, then shall ye say, Absolom hath become king in Hebron!

11. எருசலேமிலிருந்து வரவழைக்கப்பட்ட இருநூறுபேர் அப்சலோமோடே கூடப்போனார்கள்; அவர்கள் வஞ்சகமின்றி அறியாமையினால் போனார்கள்.

11. And, with Absolom, went two hundred men, out of Jerusalem, who, having been bidden, were going in their simplicity, neither knew they anything.

12. அப்சலோம் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தும் போது, தாவீதின் ஆலோசனைக்காரனாகிய அகித்தோப்பேல் என்னும் கீலோனியனையும் அவன் ஊராகிய கீலோவிலிருந்து வரவழைப்பித்தான்; அப்படியே கட்டுப்பாடு பலத்து, ஜனங்கள் அப்சலோமினிடத்தில் திரளாய் வந்து கூடினார்கள்.

12. And Absalom sent and called Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, out of his city, out of Gilo, when he was offering sacrifices, and so it was that the conspiracy was strong, and, the people, went on multiplying with Absolom.

13. அதை அறிவிக்கிற ஒருவன் தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒவ்வொருவருடைய இருதயமும் அப்சலோமைப் பற்றிப்போகிறது என்றான்.

13. Then came one bearing tidings unto David, saying, It hath come about, that the heart of the men of Israel goeth after Absolom.

14. அப்பொழுது தாவீது எருசலேமிலே தன்னிடத்திலுள்ள தன்னுடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரையும் நோக்கி: எழுந்து ஓடிப்போவோம், இல்லாவிட்டால் நாம் அப்சலோமுக்குத் தப்ப இடமில்லை; அவன் தீவிரித்து நம்மிடத்தில் வந்து, நம்மைப் பிடித்து, நம்மேல் பொல்லாப்பு வரப்பண்ணி, நகரத்தைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் சங்காரம்பண்ணாதபடிக்குத் தீவிரமாய்ப் புறப்படுங்கள் என்றான்.

14. Then said David, to all his servants who were with him in Jerusalem Arise and let us flee, or we shall have no way of escape from the face of Absolom, make speed to depart, lest he make speed, and so overtake us, and bring down misfortune upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

15. ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரர் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிடும் காரியத்தையெல்லாம் செய்ய உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

15. And the king's servants said unto the king, According to all that my lord the king shall choose, here are thy servants.

16. அப்படியே ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய வீட்டார் எல்லாரும் கால்நடையாய்ப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; வீட்டைக்காக்க ராஜா மறுமனையாட்டிகளாகிய பத்து ஸ்திரீகளைப் பின்வைத்தான்.

16. So the king went forth, with all his household attending him, but the king left ten women who were concubines, to keep the house.

17. ராஜாவும் சமஸ்த ஜனங்களும் கால்நடையாய்ப் புறப்பட்டு, சற்றுத்தூரம் போய், ஒரு இடத்திலே தரித்து நின்றார்கள்.

17. Thus then the king went forth, with all the people attending him, and they came to a stand at a place that was far off.

18. அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும், கிரேத்தியர் யாவரும், பிலேத்தியர் யாவரும் அவன் பக்கத்திலே நடந்து போனார்கள்; காத்தூரிலிருந்து கால்நடையாய் வந்திருந்த அறுநூறுபேராகிய கித்தியர் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தார்கள்.

18. And, all his servants, were passing on beside him, and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and, all the Gittites six hundred men, who had accompanied him from Gath, were passing on before the king.

19. அப்பொழுது ராஜா கித்தியனாகிய ஈத்தாயைப் பார்த்து: நீ எங்களுடனே கூட வருவானேன்? நீ திரும்பிப்போய், ராஜாவுடனேகூட இரு; நீ அந்நிய தேசத்தான்; நீ உன் இடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப் போகலாம்.

19. Then said the king, unto Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore shouldest, thou also, go with us? return and abide with the king, for, a stranger, art thou, moreover also, an exile, art thou from thine own country.

20. நீ நேற்றுதானே வந்தாய்; இன்று நான் உன்னை எங்களோடே நடந்துவரும்படிக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகலாமா நான் போகக்கூடிய இடத்திற்குப் போகிறேன்; நீ உன் சகோதரரையும் அழைத்துகொண்டு திரும்பிப்போ; கிருபையும் உண்மையும் உன்னோடே இருப்பதாக என்றான்.

20. Only yesterday, camest thou, and, today, shall I let thee wander with us, on our journey, seeing that, I, am going, whithersoever I may? Return and take back thy brethren with thee, and may Yahweh deal with thee in lovingkindness and faithfulness.

21. ஆனாலும் ஈத்தாய் ராஜாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் எங்கேயிருப்பாரோ, அங்கே உமது அடியானும், செத்தாலும் பிழைத்தாலும், இருப்பான் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனையும் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

21. But Ittai answered the king, and said, By the life of Yahweh, and by the life of my lord the king, surely, in whatsoever place, my lord the king, may be, whether for death or for life, there will, thy servant, be.

22. அப்பொழுது தாவீது ஈத்தாயை நோக்கி: நடந்துவா என்றான்; அப்படியே கித்தியனாகிய ஈத்தாயும் அவனுடைய எல்லா மனுஷரும் அவனோடிருக்கிற எல்லாப் பிள்ளைகளும் நடந்துபோனார்கள்.

22. Then said David unto Ittai Go, and pass on. So Ittai the Gittite passed on, with all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.

23. சகல ஜனங்களும் நடந்துபோகிறபோது, தேசத்தார் எல்லாரும் மகா சத்தமாய் அழுதார்கள்; ராஜா கீதரோன் ஆற்றைக் கடந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் போகிற வழியே நடந்துபோனார்கள்.

23. And, fall the land, was weeping, with a loud voice, and, all the people, were passing on, the king also, was passing on, through the torrent-bed of Kidron, and all the people were passing on over the face of the way leading to the wilderness.

24. சாதோக்கும் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியை அவனோடேகூட இருந்து சுமக்கிற சகல லேவியரும் வந்து, தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை அங்கே வைத்தார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் நகரத்திலிருந்து கடந்து தீருமட்டும், அபியத்தார் திரும்பிப்போயிருந்தான்.

24. And lo! Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, were bearing the ark of the covenant of God, and they set down the ark of God, and Abiathar went up, until all the people had made an end of passing over out of the city.

25. ராஜா சாதோக்கை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோ; கர்த்தருடைய கண்களில் எனக்குக் கிருபை கிடைத்ததானால், நான் அதையும் அவர் வாசஸ்தலத்தையும் பார்க்கிறதற்கு, என்னைத் திரும்ப வரப்பண்ணுவார்.

25. Then said the king unto Zadok, Take back the ark of God into the city, if I find favour in the eyes of Yahweh, then will he bring me back, and let me see both him and his habitation,

26. அவர்: உன்மேல் எனக்குப் பிரியமில்லை என்பாராகில், இதோ, இங்கே இருக்கிறேன்; அவர் தம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி எனக்குச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

26. but, if thus, he say, I have no delight in thee, here I am, let him do unto me as may be good in his eyes.

27. பின்னும் ராஜா ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கை நோக்கி: நீ ஞானதிருஷ்டிக்காரன் அல்லவோ? நீ சமாதானத்தோடே நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பு; உன் மகன் அகிமாசும் அபியத்தாரின் மகன் யோனத்தானுமாகிய உங்கள் குமாரர் இரண்டுபேரும் உங்களோடேகூடத் திரும்பிப் போகட்டும்.

27. And the king said, unto Zadok the priest, Art thou not, a seer? return into the city, in peace, and Ahimaaz thine own son, and Jonathan son of Abiathar your two sons, with you.

28. எனக்கு அறிவிக்கிறதற்கு உங்களிடத்திலிருந்து செய்தி வருமட்டும், நான் வனாந்தரத்தின் வெளிகளிலே தரித்திருப்பேன் என்றான்.

28. See! I, am tarrying in the waste plains of the wilderness until there come word from you, to tell me.

29. அப்படியே சாதோக்கும் அபியத்தாரும் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பக் கொண்டுபோய், அங்கே இருந்தார்கள்.

29. So Zadok and Abiathar took back the ark of God to Jerusalem, and abode there.

30. தாவீது தன் முகத்தை மூடி, வெறுங்காலால் நடந்து அழுதுகொண்டு, ஒலிவமலையின்மேல் ஏறிப்போனான்; அவனோடிருந்த சகல ஜனங்களும் முகத்தை மூடி அழுதுகொண்டு ஏறினார்கள்.

30. Now, David, was going up by the ascent of Olivet, weeping as he went up, with his head covered, himself, passing on barefoot, and all the people who were with him, covered every man his head, and went up, weeping as they went.

31. அப்சலோமோடே கட்டுப்பாடு பண்ணினவர்களுடன் அகித்தோப்பேலும் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறான் என்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தாவீது: கர்த்தாவே, அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையைப் பயித்தியமாக்கிவிடுவீராக என்றான்.

31. And, unto David, it was told, saying, Ahithophel, is among the conspirators with Absolom. And David said, Turn to foolishness, I pray thee, the counsel of Ahithophel, O Yahweh.

32. தாவீது மலையின் உச்சிமட்டும் வந்து, அங்கே தேவனைப் பணிந்துகொண்டபோது, இதோ, அற்கியனாகிய ஊசாய் தன் வஸ்திரத்தைக் கிழித்துக் கொண்டு, தலையின்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டவனாய் அவனுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டான்.

32. And it came to pass, when David reached the summit, where he bowed himself down unto God, that lo! there met him, Hushai the Archite, his tunic rent, and earth upon his head.

33. தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ என்னோடேகூட நடந்துவந்தால் எனக்குப் பாரமாயிருப்பாய்.

33. And David said unto him, If thou pass over with me, then shalt thou become unto me, a burden;

34. நீ நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அப்சலோமை நோக்கி: ராஜாவே, உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரனாயிருப்பேன்; முன் நான் உம்முடைய தகப்பனுக்கு ஊழியக்காரனாயிருந்தேன்; இப்போது நான் உமக்கு ஊழியக்காரன் என்றாயேயாகில், எனக்காக அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையை அபத்தமாக்குவாய்.

34. but, if, to the city, thou return, then canst thou say unto Absolom Thy servant, I, O king, will be, as, the servant of thy father, I was formerly, so will I, now, be thy servant: thus shalt thou frustrate for me the counsel of Ahithophel.

35. உன்னோடே அங்கே சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா? ராஜாவின் வீட்டிலே பிறக்கிற ஏதேது செய்தி உண்டோ, என்னென்ன கேள்விப்படுகிறாயோ, அதையெல்லாம் சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பாய்.

35. And hast thou not, with thee, there Zadok and Abiathar the priests? so then it shall be, that, what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the house of the king, thou shalt tell to Zadok and to Abiathar, the priests.

36. அங்கே அவர்களோடே சாதோக்கின் மகன் அகிமாசும், அபியத்தாரின் மகன் யோனத்தானும், அவர்கள் இரண்டு குமாரரும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; நீங்கள் கேள்விப்படுகிற செய்தியையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் வசமாய் எனக்கு அனுப்புவீர்களாக என்றான்.

36. Lo! they have there with them, their two sons, Ahimaaz for Zadok, and Jonathan for Abiathar, so shall ye send, by their hand, unto me, everything which ye shall hear.

37. அப்படியே தாவீதின் சிநேகிதனாகிய ஊசாய் நகரத்திற்கு வந்தான்; அப்சலோமும் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தான்.

37. So Hushai, David's friend, went into the city, when, Absolom, was about to enter Jerusalem.
