1. ஆபிரகாம் கேத்தூராள் என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு ஸ்திரீயையும் விவாகம்பண்ணியிருந்தான்.

1. Abraham took him another wife called Ketura,

2. அவள் அவனுக்குச் சிம்ரானையும், யக்க்ஷானையும், மேதானையும், மீதியானையும், இஸ்பாக்கையும், சூவாகையும் பெற்றாள்.

2. which bare him Simran, Jacksan, Medan, Midian, Jesback and Suah.

3. யக்க்ஷான் சேபாவையும், தேதானையும் பெற்றான்; தேதானுடைய குமாரர் அசூரீம், லெத்தூசீம், லெயூமீம் என்பவர்கள்.

3. And Jacksan begat Seba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Assurim, Letusim and Leumim.

4. மீதியானுடைய குமாரர் ஏப்பா, ஏப்பேர், ஆனோக்கு, அபீதா, எல்தாகா என்பவர்கள்; இவர்கள் எல்லாரும் கேத்தூராளின் பிள்ளைகள்.

4. And the sons of Midian were Epha, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Elda. All these were the children of Bethura.(Ketura.)

5. ஆபிரகாம் தனக்கு உண்டான யாவையும் ஈசாக்குக்குக் கொடுத்தான்.

5. But Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

6. ஆபிரகாமுக்கு இருந்த மறுமனையாட்டிகளின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கோ ஆபிரகாம் நன்கொடைகளைக் கொடுத்து, தான் உயிரோடிருக்கும்போதே அவர்களைத் தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கைவிட்டுக் கிழக்கே போகக் கீழ்தேசத்துக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

6. And unto the sons of his concubines he gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son (while he yet lived) eastward, unto the east country.

7. ஆபிரகாம் உயிரோடிருந்த ஆயுசு நாட்கள் நூற்று எழுபத்தைந்து வருஷம்.

7. These are the days of the life of Abraham which he lived: an hundred and seventy five year

8. பிற்பாடு ஆபிரகாம் நல்ல நரைவயதிலும், முதிர்ந்த பூரண ஆயுசிலும் பிராணன்போய் மரித்து, தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்பட்டான்.

8. and then fell sick and died, in a lusty age (when he had lived enough) and was put unto his people.

9. அவன் குமாரராகிய ஈசாக்கும் இஸ்மவேலும் மம்ரேக்கு எதிரே ஏத்தியனான சோகாரின் குமாரனாகிய எப்பெரோனின் நிலத்திலுள்ள மக்பேலா என்னப்பட்ட குகையிலே அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. And his sons Isaac and Ismael buried him in the double cave in the field of Ephron son, of Zoar the Hethite before Mamre.

10. அந்த நிலத்தை ஏத்தின் புத்திரர் கையிலே ஆபிரகாம் வாங்கியிருந்தான்; அங்கே ஆபிரகாமும் அவன் மனைவியாகிய சாராளும் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்.

10. Which field Abraham bought of the sons of Heth: There was Abraham buried and Sara his wife.

11. ஆபிரகாம் மரித்தபின் தேவன் அவன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கை ஆசீர்வதித்தார். லகாய்ரோயீ என்னும் துரவுக்குச் சமீபமாய் ஈசாக்கு குடியிருந்தான்.

11. And after the death of Abraham God blessed Isaac his son, which dwelt by the well of the living and seeing.

12. சாராளுடைய அடிமைப்பெண்ணாகிய எகிப்து தேசத்தாளான ஆகார் ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலின் வம்சவரலாறு:

12. These are the generations of Ismael Abraham's son, which Hagar the Egyptian Sara's handmaid bare unto Abraham.

13. பற்பல சந்ததிகளாய்ப் பிரிந்த இஸ்மவேலின் புத்திரருடைய நாமங்களாவன; இஸ்மவேலுடைய மூத்த மகன் நெபாயோத், பின்பு கேதார், அத்பியேல், மிப்சாம்,

13. And these are the names of the sons of Ismael, with their names in their kindreds. The eldest son of Ismael, Nevatoth, then Redar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

14. மிஷ்மா, தூமா, மாசா,

14. Misma, Duma, Masa,

15. ஆதார், தேமா, யெத்தூர், நாபீஸ், கேத்மா என்பவைகளே.

15. Hadar, Thema, Jetur, Naphis and Kedma.

16. தங்கள் கிராமங்களிலும் அரண்களிலும் குடியிருந்த தங்கள் ஜனத்தாருக்குப் பன்னிரண்டு பிரபுக்களாகிய இஸ்மவேலின் குமாரர்கள் இவர்களே, இவர்களுடைய நாமங்களும் இவைகளே.

16. These are the sons of Ismael, and these are their names, in their towns and castles twelve princes of nations.

17. இஸ்மவேலின் வயது நூற்று முப்பத்தேழு. பின்பு அவன் பிராணன் போய் மரித்து, தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்பட்டான்.

17. And these are the years of the life of Ismael: an hundred and thirty seven year, and then he fell sick and died, and was laid unto his people.

18. அவர்கள் ஆவிலா துவக்கி எகிப்துக்கு எதிராக அசீரியாவுக்கு போகிற வழியிலிருக்கும் சூர்மட்டும் வாசம்பண்ணினார்கள். இது அவன் சகோதரர் எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாக அவன் குடியேறின பூமி.

18. And he dwelt from Evila unto Sur that is before Egypt, as men go toward the Assyrians. And he died in the presence of all his brethren.

19. ஆபிரகாமின் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்குடைய வம்சவரலாறு; ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கைப் பெற்றான்.

19. And these are the generations of Isaac Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac.

20. ஈசாக்கு ரெபெக்காளை விவாகம்பண்ணுகிறபோது நாற்பது வயதாயிருந்தான்; இவள் பதான்அராம் என்னும் சீரியா தேசத்தானாகிய பெத்துவேலுக்குக் குமாரத்தியும், சீரியா தேசத்தானாகிய லாபானுக்குச் சகோதரியுமானவள்.

20. And Isaac was forty year old when he took Rebecca to wife the daughter of Bethuel the Sirian of Mesopotamia and sister to Laban the Sirian.

21. மலடியாயிருந்த தன் மனைவிக்காக ஈசாக்கு கர்த்தரை நோக்கி வேண்டுதல் செய்தான்; கர்த்தர் அவன் வேண்டுதலைக் கேட்டருளினார்; அவன் மனைவி ரெபெக்காள் கர்ப்பந்தரித்தாள்.

21. And Isaac made intercession unto the LORD for his wife: because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebecca his wife conceived:

22. அவள் கர்ப்பத்திலே பிள்ளைகள் ஒன்றோடொன்று மோதிக்கொண்டிருந்தன; அப்பொழுது அவள்: இப்படியானால் எனக்கு எப்படியோ என்று சொல்லி, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கும்படி போனாள்.

22. and the children strove together within her. Then she said: if it should go so to pass, what helpeth it that I am with child? And she went and asked the LORD.

23. அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: இரண்டு ஜாதிகள் உன் கர்ப்பத்தில் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது; இரண்டுவித ஜனங்கள் உன் வயிற்றிலிருந்து பிரியும், அவர்களில் ஒரு ஜனத்தார் மற்ற ஜனத்தாரைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலத்திருப்பார்கள், மூத்தவன் இளையவனைச் சேவிப்பான் என்றார்.

23. And the LORD said unto her there are two manner of people in thy womb, and two nations shall spring out of thy bowels, and the one nation shall be mightier than the other and the eldest shall be servant unto the younger.

24. பிரசவகாலம் பூரணமானபோது, அவள் கர்ப்பத்தில் இரட்டைப் பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தது.

24. And when her time was come to be delivered: behold there were two twins in her womb.

25. மூத்தவன் சிவந்த நிறமுள்ளவனாயும் சர்வாங்கமும் ரோம அங்கி போர்த்தவன் போலவும் வெளிப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்கு ஏசா என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்.

25. And he that came out first, was red and rough over all as it were an hide: and they called his name Esau.

26. பின்பு, அவன் சகோதரன் தன் கையினாலே ஏசாவின் குதிங்காலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வெளிப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்கு யாக்கோபு என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்; இவர்களை அவள் பெற்றபோது ஈசாக்கு அறுபது வயதாயிருந்தான்.

26. And afterward his brother came out and his hand holding Esau by the heel. Wherefore his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was forty year old when she bare them:

27. இந்தப் பிள்ளைகள் பெரியவர்களானபோது, ஏசா வேட்டையில் வல்லவனும் வனசஞ்சாரியுமாய் இருந்தான்; யாக்கோபு குணசாலியும் கூடாரவாசியுமாய் இருந்தான்.

27. and the boys grew, and Esau became a cunning hunter and a tillman. But Jacob was a simple man and dwelled in the tents.

28. ஏசா வேட்டையாடிக் கொண்டுவருகிறது ஈசாக்கினுடைய வாய்க்கு ருசிகரமாயிருந்ததினாலே ஏசாவின்மேல் பட்சமாயிருந்தான்; ரெபெக்காளோ யாக்கோபின்மேல் பட்சமாயிருந்தாள்.

28. Isaac loved Esau because he did eat of his venison, but Rebecca loved Jacob.

29. ஒருநாள் ஏசா வெளியிலிருந்து களைத்து வந்தபோது, யாக்கோபு கூழ் சமைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

29. Jacob sod pottage, and Esau came from the field and was fainty,

30. அப்பொழுது ஏசா யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: அந்தச் சிவப்பான கூழிலே நான் சாப்பிடக் கொஞ்சம் தா, இளைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான்; இதனாலே அவனுக்கு ஏதோம் என்கிற பேர் உண்டாயிற்று.

30. and said to Jacob: let me sip of that red pottage, for I am fainty. And therefore was his name called Edom.

31. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு: உன் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை இன்று எனக்கு விற்றுப்போடு என்றான்.

31. And Jacob said: sell me this day thy birthright.

32. அதற்கு ஏசா: இதோ, நான் சாகப்போகிறேனே, இந்தச் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகம் எனக்கு என்னத்திற்கு என்றான்.

32. And Esau answered: Lo I am at the point to die, and what profit shall this birthright do me?

33. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு: இன்று எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்; அவன் யாக்கோபுக்கு ஆணையிட்டு, தன் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை அவனுக்கு விற்றுப்போட்டான்.
எபிரேயர் 12:16

33. And Jacob said, swear to me then this day. And he swore to him and sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு ஏசாவுக்கு அப்பத்தையும் பயற்றங்கூழையும் கொடுத்தான்; அவன் புசித்துக் குடித்து எழுந்திருந்து போய்விட்டான். இப்படி ஏசா தன் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை அலட்சியம் பண்ணினான்.

34. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of red rice. And he ate and drank and rose up and went his way. And so Esau regarded not his birthright.
