1. ஆபிரகாம் கேத்தூராள் என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு ஸ்திரீயையும் விவாகம்பண்ணியிருந்தான்.

1. And Abraham took another wife and her name, was Keturah;

2. அவள் அவனுக்குச் சிம்ரானையும், யக்க்ஷானையும், மேதானையும், மீதியானையும், இஸ்பாக்கையும், சூவாகையும் பெற்றாள்.

2. and she bare to him Zimran, and Yokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3. யக்க்ஷான் சேபாவையும், தேதானையும் பெற்றான்; தேதானுடைய குமாரர் அசூரீம், லெத்தூசீம், லெயூமீம் என்பவர்கள்.

3. And, Yokshan, begat Sheba and Dedan, and, the sons of Dedan, were Asshurim and Letushim, and Leummim.

4. மீதியானுடைய குமாரர் ஏப்பா, ஏப்பேர், ஆனோக்கு, அபீதா, எல்தாகா என்பவர்கள்; இவர்கள் எல்லாரும் கேத்தூராளின் பிள்ளைகள்.

4. And the sons of Midian, Ephah and Epher and Hanoch, and Abida. and Eldaah, all these, were the sons of Keturah.

5. ஆபிரகாம் தனக்கு உண்டான யாவையும் ஈசாக்குக்குக் கொடுத்தான்.

5. And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac;

6. ஆபிரகாமுக்கு இருந்த மறுமனையாட்டிகளின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கோ ஆபிரகாம் நன்கொடைகளைக் கொடுத்து, தான் உயிரோடிருக்கும்போதே அவர்களைத் தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கைவிட்டுக் கிழக்கே போகக் கீழ்தேசத்துக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

6. but, to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and then sent them away from Isaac his son while he himself yet lived, eastward unto the land of the east.

7. ஆபிரகாம் உயிரோடிருந்த ஆயுசு நாட்கள் நூற்று எழுபத்தைந்து வருஷம்.

7. Now, these, are the days of the years of the life of Abraham which he lived a hundred and seventy-five years.

8. பிற்பாடு ஆபிரகாம் நல்ல நரைவயதிலும், முதிர்ந்த பூரண ஆயுசிலும் பிராணன்போய் மரித்து, தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்பட்டான்.

8. So Abraham breathed his last, and died in a fine old age, old and satisfied, and was gathered unto his people,

9. அவன் குமாரராகிய ஈசாக்கும் இஸ்மவேலும் மம்ரேக்கு எதிரே ஏத்தியனான சோகாரின் குமாரனாகிய எப்பெரோனின் நிலத்திலுள்ள மக்பேலா என்னப்பட்ட குகையிலே அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him, in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, which is over against Mamre;

10. அந்த நிலத்தை ஏத்தின் புத்திரர் கையிலே ஆபிரகாம் வாங்கியிருந்தான்; அங்கே ஆபிரகாமும் அவன் மனைவியாகிய சாராளும் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்.

10. the field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth, there, was buried Abraham, with Sarah his wife.

11. ஆபிரகாம் மரித்தபின் தேவன் அவன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கை ஆசீர்வதித்தார். லகாய்ரோயீ என்னும் துரவுக்குச் சமீபமாய் ஈசாக்கு குடியிருந்தான்.

11. And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed Isaac his son, and Isaac dwelt by Beer-lahai-roi.

12. சாராளுடைய அடிமைப்பெண்ணாகிய எகிப்து தேசத்தாளான ஆகார் ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலின் வம்சவரலாறு:

12. Now, these, are the generations of Ishmael son of Abraham, whom hagar the Egyptian woman the handmaid of Sarah bare to Abraham;

13. பற்பல சந்ததிகளாய்ப் பிரிந்த இஸ்மவேலின் புத்திரருடைய நாமங்களாவன; இஸ்மவேலுடைய மூத்த மகன் நெபாயோத், பின்பு கேதார், அத்பியேல், மிப்சாம்,

13. and these, are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names after their generations, the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth, and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam;

14. மிஷ்மா, தூமா, மாசா,

14. and Mishma and Dumah, and Massa;

15. ஆதார், தேமா, யெத்தூர், நாபீஸ், கேத்மா என்பவைகளே.

15. Ha-dad, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16. தங்கள் கிராமங்களிலும் அரண்களிலும் குடியிருந்த தங்கள் ஜனத்தாருக்குப் பன்னிரண்டு பிரபுக்களாகிய இஸ்மவேலின் குமாரர்கள் இவர்களே, இவர்களுடைய நாமங்களும் இவைகளே.

16. these, same, are the sons of Ishmael and these, their names, by their villages and by their encampments, twelve princes, after their tribes.

17. இஸ்மவேலின் வயது நூற்று முப்பத்தேழு. பின்பு அவன் பிராணன் போய் மரித்து, தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்பட்டான்.

17. And these, are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years, and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered unto his people.

18. அவர்கள் ஆவிலா துவக்கி எகிப்துக்கு எதிராக அசீரியாவுக்கு போகிற வழியிலிருக்கும் சூர்மட்டும் வாசம்பண்ணினார்கள். இது அவன் சகோதரர் எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாக அவன் குடியேறின பூமி.

18. And they stretched their habitations from Havilah as far as to Shur, which is over against Egypt, as thou goest in towards Assyria, over against all his brethren, he settled down.

19. ஆபிரகாமின் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்குடைய வம்சவரலாறு; ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கைப் பெற்றான்.

19. And, these, are the generations of Isaac, son of Abraham, Abraham, begat Isaac;

20. ஈசாக்கு ரெபெக்காளை விவாகம்பண்ணுகிறபோது நாற்பது வயதாயிருந்தான்; இவள் பதான்அராம் என்னும் சீரியா தேசத்தானாகிய பெத்துவேலுக்குக் குமாரத்தியும், சீரியா தேசத்தானாகிய லாபானுக்குச் சகோதரியுமானவள்.

20. and it came to pass that, Isaac, was forty years old, when he took Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Syrian, of the Plain of Syria, sister of Laban the Syrian. to himself to wife.

21. மலடியாயிருந்த தன் மனைவிக்காக ஈசாக்கு கர்த்தரை நோக்கி வேண்டுதல் செய்தான்; கர்த்தர் அவன் வேண்டுதலைக் கேட்டருளினார்; அவன் மனைவி ரெபெக்காள் கர்ப்பந்தரித்தாள்.

21. So then Isaac made entreaty unto Yahweh in behalf of his wife, for she was, barren, and Yahweh suffered himself to be entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22. அவள் கர்ப்பத்திலே பிள்ளைகள் ஒன்றோடொன்று மோதிக்கொண்டிருந்தன; அப்பொழுது அவள்: இப்படியானால் எனக்கு எப்படியோ என்று சொல்லி, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கும்படி போனாள்.

22. And the sons within her struggled together, so she said If so, wherefore now am, I, thus ? And she went to seek Yahweh.

23. அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: இரண்டு ஜாதிகள் உன் கர்ப்பத்தில் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது; இரண்டுவித ஜனங்கள் உன் வயிற்றிலிருந்து பிரியும், அவர்களில் ஒரு ஜனத்தார் மற்ற ஜனத்தாரைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலத்திருப்பார்கள், மூத்தவன் இளையவனைச் சேவிப்பான் என்றார்.

23. And Yahweh said to her. Two nations, are in thy womb, And two races, from thy body, shall be parted, And, one race, shall be stronger, than the other race, And the elder, shall serve the younger.

24. பிரசவகாலம் பூரணமானபோது, அவள் கர்ப்பத்தில் இரட்டைப் பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தது.

24. Then were fulfilled her days to bring forth, and lo! twins in her womb.

25. மூத்தவன் சிவந்த நிறமுள்ளவனாயும் சர்வாங்கமும் ரோம அங்கி போர்த்தவன் போலவும் வெளிப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்கு ஏசா என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்.

25. And the first came forth red, all over, as a mantle of hair, so they called his name, Esau,

26. பின்பு, அவன் சகோதரன் தன் கையினாலே ஏசாவின் குதிங்காலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வெளிப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்கு யாக்கோபு என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்; இவர்களை அவள் பெற்றபோது ஈசாக்கு அறுபது வயதாயிருந்தான்.

26. And, after that, came forth his brother with his hand fast hold of the heel of Esau, so they called his name Jacob Now, Isaac, was sixty years old when she bare them,

27. இந்தப் பிள்ளைகள் பெரியவர்களானபோது, ஏசா வேட்டையில் வல்லவனும் வனசஞ்சாரியுமாய் இருந்தான்; யாக்கோபு குணசாலியும் கூடாரவாசியுமாய் இருந்தான்.

27. And when the youths grew up, it came to pass that Esau was a man skilled in game a man of the field, but, Jacob, was a ready man, dwelling in tents.

28. ஏசா வேட்டையாடிக் கொண்டுவருகிறது ஈசாக்கினுடைய வாய்க்கு ருசிகரமாயிருந்ததினாலே ஏசாவின்மேல் பட்சமாயிருந்தான்; ரெபெக்காளோ யாக்கோபின்மேல் பட்சமாயிருந்தாள்.

28. And, Isaac, loved, Esau, because of the game he put in his mouth, but, Rebekah, was a lover of Jacob!.

29. ஒருநாள் ஏசா வெளியிலிருந்து களைத்து வந்தபோது, யாக்கோபு கூழ் சமைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

29. And Jacob had boiled pottage, when Esau came in from the field, he, being famished.

30. அப்பொழுது ஏசா யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: அந்தச் சிவப்பான கூழிலே நான் சாப்பிடக் கொஞ்சம் தா, இளைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான்; இதனாலே அவனுக்கு ஏதோம் என்கிற பேர் உண்டாயிற்று.

30. So Esau said unto Jacob. Do let me devour some of the red this red, for, famished, I am. For this cause, was his name called Edom.

31. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு: உன் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை இன்று எனக்கு விற்றுப்போடு என்றான்.

31. And Jacob said, Come sell, just now, thy birthright unto me.

32. அதற்கு ஏசா: இதோ, நான் சாகப்போகிறேனே, இந்தச் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகம் எனக்கு என்னத்திற்கு என்றான்.

32. And Esau said, Here am I, on the point of dying, wherefore, then, should I, have, a birthright?

33. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு: இன்று எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்; அவன் யாக்கோபுக்கு ஆணையிட்டு, தன் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை அவனுக்கு விற்றுப்போட்டான்.
எபிரேயர் 12:16

33. And Jacob said, Come swear to me just now! And he sware to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

34. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு ஏசாவுக்கு அப்பத்தையும் பயற்றங்கூழையும் கொடுத்தான்; அவன் புசித்துக் குடித்து எழுந்திருந்து போய்விட்டான். இப்படி ஏசா தன் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை அலட்சியம் பண்ணினான்.

34. And Jacob, having given to Esau bread and a dish of lentils, he did eat and drink and rose up, and went his way, thus Esau despised his birthright!
