1. கர்த்தர் தாம் சொல்லியிருந்தபடி சாராள்பேரில் கடாட்சமானார்; கர்த்தர் தாம் உரைத்தபடியே சாராளுக்குச் செய்தருளினார்.

1. The LORD visited Sara as he had said and did unto her according as he had spoken.(promised.)

2. ஆபிரகாம் முதிர்வயதாயிருக்கையில், சாராள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி, தேவன் குறித்திருந்த காலத்திலே அவனுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

2. And Sara was with child and bare Abraham a son in his old age even the same season which the Lord(LORde)(God) had appointed.

3. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தனக்குச் சாராள் பெற்ற குமாரனுக்கு ஈசாக்கு என்று பேரிட்டான்.

3. And Abraham called his son's name that was born unto him which Sara bare him Isaac:

4. தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கு பிறந்த எட்டாம் நாளிலே, ஆபிரகாம் தனக்குத் தேவன் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடி அவனுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான்.

4. and Abraham circumcised Isaac his son when he was eight days old, as God commanded him.

5. தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கு பிறந்தபோது ஆபிரகாம் நூறுவயதாயிருந்தான்.

5. And Abraham was an hundred year old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.

6. அப்பொழுது சாராள்: தேவன் என்னை நகைக்கப்பண்ணினார்; இதைக்கேட்கிற யாவரும் என்னோடகூட நகைப்பார்கள்.

6. And Sara said: God hath made me a laughing stock: for all that hear, will laugh at me.

7. சாராள் பிள்ளைகளுக்குப் பால்கொடுப்பாள் என்று ஆபிரகாமுக்கு எவன் சொல்லுவான்? அவருடைய முதிர்வயதிலே அவருக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றேனே என்றாள்.

7. She said also: who would have said unto Abraham, that Sara should have given children suck, or that I should have borne him a son in his old age:

8. பிள்ளை வளர்ந்து, பால் மறந்தது; ஈசாக்கு பால் மறந்தநாளிலே ஆபிரகாம் பெரிய விருந்து பண்ணினான்.

8. The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast, the same day that Isaac was weaned.

9. பின்பு எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஆகார் ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரன் பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறதைச் சாராள் கண்டு,

9. Sara saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian which she had borne unto Abraham, a mocking.

10. ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: இந்த அடிமைப்பெண்ணையும் அவள் மகனையும் புறம்பே தள்ளும்; இந்த அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகன் என் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கோடே சுதந்திரவாளியாயிருப்பதில்லை என்றாள்.

10. Then she said unto Abraham: put away this bondmaid and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son Isaac:

11. தன் மகனைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லப்பட்ட இந்தக் காரியம் ஆபிரகாமுக்கு மிகவும் துக்கமாயிருந்தது.

11. But the word seemed very grievous in Abraham's sight, because of his son.

12. அப்பொழுது தேவன் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: அந்தப் பிள்ளையையும், உன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணையும் குறித்துச் சொல்லப்பட்டது உனக்குத் துக்கமாயிருக்க வேண்டாம்; ஈசாக்கினிடத்தில் உன் சந்ததி விளங்கும்; ஆதலால் சாராள் உனக்குச் சொல்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் கேள்.

12. Then the Lord(God) said unto Abraham: let it not be grievous unto thee, because of the lad and of thy bondmaid: But in all that Sara hath said unto thee, hear her voice, for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

13. அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகனும் உன் வித்தாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவனையும் ஒரு ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

13. Moreover of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

14. ஆபிரகாம் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, அப்பத்தையும் ஒரு துருத்தி தண்ணீரையும் எடுத்து, ஆகாருடைய தோளின்மேல் வைத்துப் பிள்ளையையும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவளை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், பெயர்செபாவின் வனாந்தரத்திலே அலைந்து திரிந்தாள்.

14. And Abraham rose up early in the morning and took bread and a bottle with water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulders with the lad also, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered up and down in the wilderness of Berseba.

15. துருத்தியிலிருந்த தண்ணீர் செலவழிந்தபின்பு, அவள் பிள்ளையை ஒரு செடியின் கீழே விட்டு,

15. When the water was spent that was in the bottle, she cast the lad under a bush

16. பிள்ளை சாகிறதை நான் பார்க்கமாட்டேன் என்று, எதிராக அம்பு பாயும் தூரத்திலே போய் உட்கார்ந்து சத்தமிட்டு அழுதாள்.

16. and went and sat her out of sight a great way, as it were a bowshot off: For she said: I will not see the lad die. And she sat down out of sight, and lift up her voice and wept.

17. தேவன் பிள்ளையின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்; தேவதூதன் வானத்திலிருந்து ஆகாரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: ஆகாரே, உனக்கு என்ன சம்பவித்தது, பயப்படாதே, பிள்ளையிருக்கும் இடத்திலே தேவன் அவன் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்.

17. And God heard the voice of the child. And the angel of God called Hagar out of heaven and said unto her: What aileth thee Hagar? Fear not, for God hath heard the voice of the child where he lieth.

18. நீ எழுந்து பிள்ளையை எடுத்து அவனை உன் கையினால் பிடித்துக் கொண்டுபோ, அவனைப் பெரிய ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

18. Arise and lift up the lad, and take him in thy hand, for I will make of him a great people.

19. தேவன் அவளுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்தார்; அப்பொழுது அவள் ஒரு தண்ணீர்த் துரவைக் கண்டு, போய், துருத்தியிலே தண்ணீர் நிரப்பி, பிள்ளைக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தாள்.

19. And God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink.

20. தேவன் பிள்ளையுடனே இருந்தார்; அவன் வளர்ந்து வனாந்தரத்திலே குடியிருந்து வில்வித்தையிலே வல்லவனானான்.

20. And God was with the lad, and he grew and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

21. அவன் பாரான் வனாந்தரத்திலே குடியிருக்கையில், அவனுடைய தாய் எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஒரு பெண்ணை அவனுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணுவித்தாள்.

21. And he dwelt in the wilderness of Pharan. And his mother got him a wife out of thee, land of Egypt.

22. அக்காலத்தில் அபிமெலேக்கும் அவன் சேனாதிபதியாகிய பிகோலும் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: நீ செய்கிற காரியங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் தேவன் உன்னுடனே இருக்கிறார்.

22. And it chanced the same season, that Abimelech and Phicol his chief captain spake unto Abraham saying: God is with thee in all that thou doest.

23. ஆகையால், நீ எனக்காவது, என் குமாரனுக்காவது, என் பேரனுக்காவது வஞ்சனை செய்யாமல், நான் உனக்குச் செய்த தயவின்படியே, நீ எனக்கும், நீ தங்கியிருக்கிற இந்தத் தேசத்திற்கும், தயவு செய்வேன் என்று இங்கே தேவன் பேரில் எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்.

23. Now therefore swear unto me even here by God, that thou wilt not hurt me nor my children, nor my children's children. But that thou shalt deal with me and the country where thou art a stranger, according unto the kindness that I have shewed thee.

24. அதற்கு ஆபிரகாம்: நான் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

24. Then said Abraham: I will swear.

25. ஆனாலும், அபிமெலேக்குடைய வேலைக்காரர் கைவசப்படுத்திக்கொண்ட துரவின் நிமித்தம் ஆபிரகாம் அபிமெலேக்கைக் கடிந்துகொண்டான்.

25. And Abraham rebuked Abimelech for a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had taken away.

26. அதற்கு அபிமெலேக்கு: இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தவன் இன்னான் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது, நீயும் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கவில்லை; இன்று நான் அதைக்கேட்டதேயன்றி, இதற்குமுன் அதை நான் கேள்விப்பட்டதே இல்லை என்றான்.

26. And Abimelech answered I wist not who did it: Also thou toldest me not, neither heard I of it, but this day.

27. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் ஆடுமாடுகளைக் கொண்டுவந்து அபிமெலேக்குக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் இருவரும் உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

27. And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them unto Abimelech. And they made both of them a bond together.

28. ஆபிரகாம் ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகளைத் தனியே நிறுத்தினான்.

28. And Abraham set seven lambs by them selves.

29. அப்பொழுது அபிமெலேக்கு ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: நீ தனியே நிறுத்தின இந்த ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகள் என்னத்திற்கு என்று கேட்டான்.

29. And Abimelech said unto Abraham: what mean these seven lambs which thou hast set by them selves.

30. அதற்கு அவன்: நான் இந்தத் துரவு தோண்டினதைக்குறித்து, நீர் சாட்சியாக இந்த ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகளை என் கையில் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்றான்.

30. And he answered: seven lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that it may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well:

31. அவர்கள் இருவரும் அவ்விடத்தில் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டபடியால், அந்த இடம் பெயெர்செபா என்னப்பட்டது.

31. Wherefore the place is called Berseba, because they sware both of them.

32. அவர்கள் பெயெர்செபாவிலே உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொண்டபின் அபிமெலேக்கும், அவன் சேனாதிபதியாகிய பிகோலும் எழுந்து பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனார்கள்.

32. Thus made they a bond together at Berseba. Then Abimelech and Phicol his chief Captain rose up and turned again unto the land of the Philistines.

33. ஆபிரகாம் பெயெர்செபாவிலே ஒரு தோப்பை உண்டாக்கி, சதாகாலமுமுள்ள தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தை அவ்விடத்தில் தொழுதுகொண்டான்.

33. And Abraham planted a wood in Berseba, and called there, on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God:

34. ஆபிரகாம் பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்தில் அநேகநாள் தங்கியிருந்தான்.

34. and dwelt in the Philistine land a long season.
