1. Now, Yahweh, visited Sarah, as he had said, And Yahweh did for Sarah as he had spoken.

2. ஆபிரகாம் முதிர்வயதாயிருக்கையில், சாராள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி, தேவன் குறித்திருந்த காலத்திலே அவனுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

2. So, Sarah, conceived and bare, to Abraham, a son, for his old age, at the set time, of which God had spoken with him.

3. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தனக்குச் சாராள் பெற்ற குமாரனுக்கு ஈசாக்கு என்று பேரிட்டான்.

3. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom, Sarah, bare to him, Isaac.

4. தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கு பிறந்த எட்டாம் நாளிலே, ஆபிரகாம் தனக்குத் தேவன் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடி அவனுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான்.

4. And Abraham circumcised Isaac his son, when eight days old, as God commanded him.

5. தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கு பிறந்தபோது ஆபிரகாம் நூறுவயதாயிருந்தான்.

5. Now Abraham was a hundred years old, when Isaac his son was born to him.

6. அப்பொழுது சாராள்: தேவன் என்னை நகைக்கப்பண்ணினார்; இதைக்கேட்கிற யாவரும் என்னோடகூட நகைப்பார்கள்.

6. And Sarah said, A laughing, hath God made for me, Everyone that heareth will laugh with me.

7. சாராள் பிள்ளைகளுக்குப் பால்கொடுப்பாள் என்று ஆபிரகாமுக்கு எவன் சொல்லுவான்? அவருடைய முதிர்வயதிலே அவருக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றேனே என்றாள்.

7. And she said Who would have announced to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled children? yet have I borne a son, for his old age!

8. பிள்ளை வளர்ந்து, பால் மறந்தது; ஈசாக்கு பால் மறந்தநாளிலே ஆபிரகாம் பெரிய விருந்து பண்ணினான்.

8. And the child grew, and was weaned, and Abraham made a great banquet, on the day of the weaning of Isaac.

9. பின்பு எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஆகார் ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரன் பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறதைச் சாராள் கண்டு,

9. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian woman whom she had borne to Abraham laughing!

10. ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: இந்த அடிமைப்பெண்ணையும் அவள் மகனையும் புறம்பே தள்ளும்; இந்த அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகன் என் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கோடே சுதந்திரவாளியாயிருப்பதில்லை என்றாள்.

10. So she said to Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, for the son of this bondwoman must not inherit with my son with Isaac.

11. தன் மகனைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லப்பட்ட இந்தக் காரியம் ஆபிரகாமுக்கு மிகவும் துக்கமாயிருந்தது.

11. And the word was very grievous in the eyes of Abraham, on account of his son.

12. அப்பொழுது தேவன் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: அந்தப் பிள்ளையையும், உன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணையும் குறித்துச் சொல்லப்பட்டது உனக்குத் துக்கமாயிருக்க வேண்டாம்; ஈசாக்கினிடத்தில் உன் சந்ததி விளங்கும்; ஆதலால் சாராள் உனக்குச் சொல்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் கேள்.

12. And God said unto Abraham Let it not be grievous in thine eyes concerning the boy and concerning thy bondwoman, In all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken to her voice, For in Isaac, shall there be called to thee a seed.

13. அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகனும் உன் வித்தாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவனையும் ஒரு ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

13. Yet even the son of the bondwoman, will I appoint to become, a nation, because thy seed, he is.

14. ஆபிரகாம் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, அப்பத்தையும் ஒரு துருத்தி தண்ணீரையும் எடுத்து, ஆகாருடைய தோளின்மேல் வைத்துப் பிள்ளையையும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவளை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், பெயர்செபாவின் வனாந்தரத்திலே அலைந்து திரிந்தாள்.

14. So Abraham rose up early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave unto hagar, putting them on her shoulder and the child, and sent her forth, so she went her way and wandered, in the desert of Beer-sheba.

15. துருத்தியிலிருந்த தண்ணீர் செலவழிந்தபின்பு, அவள் பிள்ளையை ஒரு செடியின் கீழே விட்டு,

15. And the water out of the skin was spent, so she cant the child under one of the shrubs;

16. பிள்ளை சாகிறதை நான் பார்க்கமாட்டேன் என்று, எதிராக அம்பு பாயும் தூரத்திலே போய் உட்கார்ந்து சத்தமிட்டு அழுதாள்.

16. and went and sat her down over against him at a distance like as of such as draw the bow, for she said Let me not look upon the death of the child, So she sat down over against him, and the boy lifted up his voice, and wept

17. தேவன் பிள்ளையின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்; தேவதூதன் வானத்திலிருந்து ஆகாரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: ஆகாரே, உனக்கு என்ன சம்பவித்தது, பயப்படாதே, பிள்ளையிருக்கும் இடத்திலே தேவன் அவன் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்.

17. And God heard the voice of the boy, and a messenger of God called unto Hagar out of the heavens; and said to her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Do not fear, for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the boy where he is.

18. நீ எழுந்து பிள்ளையை எடுத்து அவனை உன் கையினால் பிடித்துக் கொண்டுபோ, அவனைப் பெரிய ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

18. Arise lift up the boy, and hold him up with thy hand, for, a great nation, will I make him.

19. தேவன் அவளுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்தார்; அப்பொழுது அவள் ஒரு தண்ணீர்த் துரவைக் கண்டு, போய், துருத்தியிலே தண்ணீர் நிரப்பி, பிள்ளைக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தாள்.

19. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water, and went and filled the skin with water, and gave drink unto the boy

20. தேவன் பிள்ளையுடனே இருந்தார்; அவன் வளர்ந்து வனாந்தரத்திலே குடியிருந்து வில்வித்தையிலே வல்லவனானான்.

20. And it came to pass that God was with the boy, and he grew, and dwelt in the desert, and he became as he grew up, an archer,

21. அவன் பாரான் வனாந்தரத்திலே குடியிருக்கையில், அவனுடைய தாய் எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஒரு பெண்ணை அவனுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணுவித்தாள்.

21. And he dwelt in the desert of Paran, and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

22. அக்காலத்தில் அபிமெலேக்கும் அவன் சேனாதிபதியாகிய பிகோலும் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: நீ செய்கிற காரியங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் தேவன் உன்னுடனே இருக்கிறார்.

22. And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech, with Phicol chieftain of his host, spake unto Abraham, saying, God, is with thee in all that, thou art doing.

23. ஆகையால், நீ எனக்காவது, என் குமாரனுக்காவது, என் பேரனுக்காவது வஞ்சனை செய்யாமல், நான் உனக்குச் செய்த தயவின்படியே, நீ எனக்கும், நீ தங்கியிருக்கிற இந்தத் தேசத்திற்கும், தயவு செய்வேன் என்று இங்கே தேவன் பேரில் எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்.

23. Now, therefore, swear to me by God, here, that thou wilt not deal falsely by me, nor by mine offspring, nor by my descendants, according to the lovingkindness wherewith I have dealt with thee, shalt thou deal with me, and with the land wherein thou hast sojourned.

24. அதற்கு ஆபிரகாம்: நான் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

24. And Abraham said, I, will swear.

25. ஆனாலும், அபிமெலேக்குடைய வேலைக்காரர் கைவசப்படுத்திக்கொண்ட துரவின் நிமித்தம் ஆபிரகாம் அபிமெலேக்கைக் கடிந்துகொண்டான்.

25. But Abraham reproved Abimelech, on account of the well of water, which the servants of Abimelech had seized.

26. அதற்கு அபிமெலேக்கு: இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தவன் இன்னான் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது, நீயும் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கவில்லை; இன்று நான் அதைக்கேட்டதேயன்றி, இதற்குமுன் அதை நான் கேள்விப்பட்டதே இல்லை என்றான்.

26. And Abimelech said, I know not, who hath done this thing, nor hast even thou, ever told me, nor have even I, ever heard, save to-day.

27. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் ஆடுமாடுகளைக் கொண்டுவந்து அபிமெலேக்குக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் இருவரும் உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

27. And Abraham took sheep and oxen, stud gave to Abimelech, and they two solemnised a covenant

28. ஆபிரகாம் ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகளைத் தனியே நிறுத்தினான்.

28. So then Abram set seven young sheep of the flock by them-selves,

29. அப்பொழுது அபிமெலேக்கு ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: நீ தனியே நிறுத்தின இந்த ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகள் என்னத்திற்கு என்று கேட்டான்.

29. And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What, then mean these seven young sheep here, which thou hast set by themselves?

30. அதற்கு அவன்: நான் இந்தத் துரவு தோண்டினதைக்குறித்து, நீர் சாட்சியாக இந்த ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகளை என் கையில் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்றான்.

30. And he said, The seven young sheep, shalt thou take at my hand, that they may serve as my witness, that I digged this well.

31. அவர்கள் இருவரும் அவ்விடத்தில் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டபடியால், அந்த இடம் பெயெர்செபா என்னப்பட்டது.

31. On this account, was the name of that place called Beer-sheba, because there, had they two sworn.

32. அவர்கள் பெயெர்செபாவிலே உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொண்டபின் அபிமெலேக்கும், அவன் சேனாதிபதியாகிய பிகோலும் எழுந்து பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனார்கள்.

32. And when they had solemnised a covenant in Beer-sheba, then arose Abimelech, with Phicol chief of his host, and returned unto the land of the Philistines.

33. ஆபிரகாம் பெயெர்செபாவிலே ஒரு தோப்பை உண்டாக்கி, சதாகாலமுமுள்ள தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தை அவ்விடத்தில் தொழுதுகொண்டான்.

33. Then planted he a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of Yahweh the age-abiding GOD.

34. ஆபிரகாம் பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்தில் அநேகநாள் தங்கியிருந்தான்.

34. So Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
