1. The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had spoken.

2. Sarah conceived, and bore Avraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

3. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தனக்குச் சாராள் பெற்ற குமாரனுக்கு ஈசாக்கு என்று பேரிட்டான்.

3. Avraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bare to him, Yitzchak.

4. தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கு பிறந்த எட்டாம் நாளிலே, ஆபிரகாம் தனக்குத் தேவன் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடி அவனுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான்.

4. Avraham circumcised his son, Yitzchak, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

5. தன் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கு பிறந்தபோது ஆபிரகாம் நூறுவயதாயிருந்தான்.

5. Avraham was one hundred years old when his son, Yitzchak, was born to him.

6. அப்பொழுது சாராள்: தேவன் என்னை நகைக்கப்பண்ணினார்; இதைக்கேட்கிற யாவரும் என்னோடகூட நகைப்பார்கள்.

6. Sarah said, 'God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.'

7. சாராள் பிள்ளைகளுக்குப் பால்கொடுப்பாள் என்று ஆபிரகாமுக்கு எவன் சொல்லுவான்? அவருடைய முதிர்வயதிலே அவருக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றேனே என்றாள்.

7. She said, 'Who would have said to Avraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.'

8. பிள்ளை வளர்ந்து, பால் மறந்தது; ஈசாக்கு பால் மறந்தநாளிலே ஆபிரகாம் பெரிய விருந்து பண்ணினான்.

8. The child grew, and was weaned. Avraham made a great feast on the day that Yitzchak was weaned.

9. Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Mitzrian, whom she had borne to Avraham, mocking.

10. ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: இந்த அடிமைப்பெண்ணையும் அவள் மகனையும் புறம்பே தள்ளும்; இந்த அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகன் என் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்கோடே சுதந்திரவாளியாயிருப்பதில்லை என்றாள்.

10. Therefore she said to Avraham, 'Cast out this handmaid and her son! For the son of this handmaid will not be heir with my son, even with Yitzchak.'

11. தன் மகனைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லப்பட்ட இந்தக் காரியம் ஆபிரகாமுக்கு மிகவும் துக்கமாயிருந்தது.

11. The thing was very grievous in Avraham's sight on account of his son.

12. அப்பொழுது தேவன் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: அந்தப் பிள்ளையையும், உன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணையும் குறித்துச் சொல்லப்பட்டது உனக்குத் துக்கமாயிருக்க வேண்டாம்; ஈசாக்கினிடத்தில் உன் சந்ததி விளங்கும்; ஆதலால் சாராள் உனக்குச் சொல்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் கேள்.

12. God said to Avraham, 'Don't let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your handmaid. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Yitzchak will your seed be called.

13. அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகனும் உன் வித்தாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவனையும் ஒரு ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

13. Also of the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because he is your seed.'

14. ஆபிரகாம் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, அப்பத்தையும் ஒரு துருத்தி தண்ணீரையும் எடுத்து, ஆகாருடைய தோளின்மேல் வைத்துப் பிள்ளையையும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவளை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், பெயர்செபாவின் வனாந்தரத்திலே அலைந்து திரிந்தாள்.

14. Avraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave her the child, and sent her away. She departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Be'er-Sheva.

15. துருத்தியிலிருந்த தண்ணீர் செலவழிந்தபின்பு, அவள் பிள்ளையை ஒரு செடியின் கீழே விட்டு,

15. The water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

16. பிள்ளை சாகிறதை நான் பார்க்கமாட்டேன் என்று, எதிராக அம்பு பாயும் தூரத்திலே போய் உட்கார்ந்து சத்தமிட்டு அழுதாள்.

16. She went and sat down opposite him, a good way off, about a bow shot away. For she said, 'Don't let me see the death of the child.' She sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.

17. தேவன் பிள்ளையின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்; தேவதூதன் வானத்திலிருந்து ஆகாரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: ஆகாரே, உனக்கு என்ன சம்பவித்தது, பயப்படாதே, பிள்ளையிருக்கும் இடத்திலே தேவன் அவன் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்.

17. God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, 'What ails you, Hagar? Don't be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

18. நீ எழுந்து பிள்ளையை எடுத்து அவனை உன் கையினால் பிடித்துக் கொண்டுபோ, அவனைப் பெரிய ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

18. Get up, lift up the boy, and hold him in your hand. For I will make him a great nation.'

19. தேவன் அவளுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்தார்; அப்பொழுது அவள் ஒரு தண்ணீர்த் துரவைக் கண்டு, போய், துருத்தியிலே தண்ணீர் நிரப்பி, பிள்ளைக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தாள்.

19. God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink.

20. தேவன் பிள்ளையுடனே இருந்தார்; அவன் வளர்ந்து வனாந்தரத்திலே குடியிருந்து வில்வித்தையிலே வல்லவனானான்.

20. God was with the boy, and he grew. He lived in the wilderness, and became, as he grew up, an archer.

21. அவன் பாரான் வனாந்தரத்திலே குடியிருக்கையில், அவனுடைய தாய் எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஒரு பெண்ணை அவனுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணுவித்தாள்.

21. He lived in the wilderness of Paran. His mother took a wife for him out of the land of Mitzrayim.

22. அக்காலத்தில் அபிமெலேக்கும் அவன் சேனாதிபதியாகிய பிகோலும் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: நீ செய்கிற காரியங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் தேவன் உன்னுடனே இருக்கிறார்.

22. It happened at that time, that Avimelekh and Pikhol the captain of his host spoke to Avraham, saying, 'God is with you in all that you do.

23. ஆகையால், நீ எனக்காவது, என் குமாரனுக்காவது, என் பேரனுக்காவது வஞ்சனை செய்யாமல், நான் உனக்குச் செய்த தயவின்படியே, நீ எனக்கும், நீ தங்கியிருக்கிற இந்தத் தேசத்திற்கும், தயவு செய்வேன் என்று இங்கே தேவன் பேரில் எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்.

23. Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son. But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land in which you have lived as a foreigner.'

24. அதற்கு ஆபிரகாம்: நான் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

24. Avraham said, 'I will swear.'

25. ஆனாலும், அபிமெலேக்குடைய வேலைக்காரர் கைவசப்படுத்திக்கொண்ட துரவின் நிமித்தம் ஆபிரகாம் அபிமெலேக்கைக் கடிந்துகொண்டான்.

25. Avraham complained to Avimelekh because of a water well, which Avimelekh's servants had violently taken away.

26. அதற்கு அபிமெலேக்கு: இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தவன் இன்னான் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது, நீயும் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கவில்லை; இன்று நான் அதைக்கேட்டதேயன்றி, இதற்குமுன் அதை நான் கேள்விப்பட்டதே இல்லை என்றான்.

26. Avimelekh said, 'I don't know who has done this thing. Neither did you tell me, neither did I hear of it, until today.'

27. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் ஆடுமாடுகளைக் கொண்டுவந்து அபிமெலேக்குக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் இருவரும் உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

27. Avraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them to Avimelekh. Those two made a covenant.

28. ஆபிரகாம் ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகளைத் தனியே நிறுத்தினான்.

28. Avraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29. அப்பொழுது அபிமெலேக்கு ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: நீ தனியே நிறுத்தின இந்த ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகள் என்னத்திற்கு என்று கேட்டான்.

29. Avimelekh said to Avraham, 'What do these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves mean?'

30. அதற்கு அவன்: நான் இந்தத் துரவு தோண்டினதைக்குறித்து, நீர் சாட்சியாக இந்த ஏழு பெண்ணாட்டுக்குட்டிகளை என் கையில் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்றான்.

30. He said, 'You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that it may be a witness to me, that I have dug this well.'

31. அவர்கள் இருவரும் அவ்விடத்தில் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டபடியால், அந்த இடம் பெயெர்செபா என்னப்பட்டது.

31. Therefore he called that place Be'er-Sheva, because they both swore there.

32. அவர்கள் பெயெர்செபாவிலே உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொண்டபின் அபிமெலேக்கும், அவன் சேனாதிபதியாகிய பிகோலும் எழுந்து பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனார்கள்.

32. So they made a covenant at Be'er-Sheva. Avimelekh rose up with Pikhol, the captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Pelishtim.

33. ஆபிரகாம் பெயெர்செபாவிலே ஒரு தோப்பை உண்டாக்கி, சதாகாலமுமுள்ள தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தை அவ்விடத்தில் தொழுதுகொண்டான்.

33. Avraham planted a tamarisk tree in Be'er-Sheva, and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.

34. ஆபிரகாம் பெலிஸ்தருடைய தேசத்தில் அநேகநாள் தங்கியிருந்தான்.

34. Avraham lived as a foreigner in the land of the Pelishtim many days.
