1. அந்த இரண்டு தூதரும் சாயங்காலத்திலே சோதோமுக்கு வந்தார்கள். லோத்து சோதோமின் வாசலிலே உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான். அவர்களைக் கண்டு, லோத்து எழுந்து எதிர்கொண்டு தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து:

1. So the two messengers went in towards Sodom at eventide, Lot, being seated in the gate of Sodom, so Lot beheld and rose up to meet them, and bowed himself with his face to the earth.

2. ஆண்டவன்மார்களே, அடியேனுடைய வீட்டு முகமாய் நீங்கள் திரும்பி, உங்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவி, இராத்தங்கி, காலையில் எழுந்து பிரயாணப்பட்டுப் போகலாம் என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அப்படியல்ல, வீதியிலே இராத்தங்குவோம் என்றார்கள்.

2. And he said Behold, I pray you my lords turn aside, I pray you, into the house of your servant, and tarry the night and bathe your feet, so shall ye rise early, and go on your way. And they said, Nay, but, in the broad way, will we tarry the night.

3. அவன் அவர்களை மிகவும் வருந்திக்கேட்டுக்கொண்டான்; அப்பொழுது அவனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பி, அவன் வீட்டிலே பிரவேசித்தார்கள். அவன் புளிப்பில்லா அப்பங்களைச் சுட்டு, அவர்களுக்கு விருந்துபண்ணினான், அவர்கள் புசித்தார்கள்.

3. But he became exceeding urgent with them, so they turned aside unto him and entered into his house, and he made for them a banquet, unleavened cakes, also did he bake, and they did eat.

4. அவர்கள் படுக்கும்முன்னே, சோதோம் பட்டணத்து மனிதராகிய வாலிபர் முதல் கிழவர்மட்டுமுள்ள ஜனங்கள் அனைவரும் நானாதிசைகளிலுமிருந்து வந்து, வீட்டைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டு,

4. Ere yet they lay down, the men of the city the men of Sodom, had come round against the house, from youth even unto age, all the people from every quarter,

5. லோத்தைக் கூப்பிட்டு: இந்த இராத்திரி உன்னிடத்தில் வந்த மனுஷர் எங்கே? நாங்கள் அவர்களை அறியும்படிக்கு அவர்களை எங்களிடத்தில் வெளியே கொண்டுவா என்றார்கள்.

5. And they called unto Lot and said to him, Where are the men who have come in unto thee tonight? Bring them forth unto us, and let us know them!

6. அப்பொழுது லோத்து வாசலுக்கு வெளியே வந்து, தனக்குப் பின்னாலே கதவைப் பூட்டி, அவர்களிடத்தில் போய்:

6. And Lot went forth unto them to the entrance; but the door, closed he behind him.

7. சகோதரரே, இந்த அக்கிரமம் செய்யவேண்டாம்.

7. And he said, Do not I pray you my brethren act wickedly.

8. இதோ, புருஷரை அறியாத இரண்டு குமாரத்திகள் எனக்கு உண்டு; அவர்களை உங்களிடத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுவருகிறேன், அவர்களுக்கு உங்கள் இஷ்டப்படி செய்யுங்கள்; இந்தப் புருஷர் என் கூரையின் நிழலிலே வந்தபடியால், இவர்களுக்கு மாத்திரம் ஒன்றும் செய்யவேண்டாம் என்றான்.

8. Behold, I pray you, I, have two daughters who have not known man, I must needs now bring, them, forth unto you, and do ye to them, as may be good in your eyes, Only to these men, ye may do nothing; for on this account, have they come under the shade of my roof.

9. அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அப்பாலே போ; பரதேசியாய் வந்த இவனா நியாயம் பேசுகிறது? இப்பொழுது அவர்களுக்குச் செய்வதைப்பார்க்கிலும் உனக்கு அதிக பொல்லாப்புச் செய்வோம் என்று சொல்லி, லோத்து என்பவனை மிகவும் நெருக்கிக் கதவை உடைக்கக் கிட்டினார்கள்.

9. And they said, Stand back, And they said, This one, by himself, hath come in to sojourn and must always be acting the judge, Now, will we do more wickedly to thee, than to them. So they pressed sere upon the man upon Lot exceedingly, and drew near to break open the door.

10. அப்பொழுது அந்தப் புருஷர்கள் தங்கள் கைகளை வெளியே நீட்டி, லோத்தைத் தங்கள் அண்டைக்கு வீட்டுக்குள் இழுத்துக்கொண்டு, கதவைப்பூட்டி,

10. And the men thrust forth their hand, and brought Lot in unto them into the house and, the door, they closed:

11. தெருவாசலிலிருந்த சிறியோரும் பெரியோருமாகிய மனிதருக்குக் குருட்டாட்டம் பிடிக்கப்பண்ணினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் வாசலைத் தேடித்தேடி அலுத்துப்போனார்கள்.

11. the men also who were at the entrance of the house, smote they with blindness, from small even unto great, so that they wearied themselves to find the entrance.

12. பின்பு அந்தப் புருஷர் லோத்தை நோக்கி: இவ்விடத்தில் இன்னும் உனக்கு யார் இருக்கிறார்கள்? மருமகனாவது, உன் குமாரராவது, உன் குமாரத்திகளாவது, பட்டணத்தில் உனக்குரிய எவர்களாவது இருந்தால், அவர்களை இந்த ஸ்தலத்திலிருந்து வெளியே அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போ.

12. And the men said unto Lot, Whom besides hast thou here? Son-in-law and thy sons and thy daughters, and all that thou hast in the city, bring thou forth out of the place;

13. நாங்கள் இந்த ஸ்தலத்தை அழிக்கப்போகிறோம்; இவர்கள் கூக்குரல் கர்த்தருடைய சமூகத்தில் பெரிதாயிருக்கிறது; இதை அழிக்கக் கர்த்தர் எங்களை அனுப்பினார் என்றார்கள்.

13. For we are about to destroy this place, for, great, is the outcry of them unto the face of Yahweh, so that Yahweh hath sent us to destroy it.

14. அப்பொழுது லோத்து புறப்பட்டு, தன் குமாரத்திகளை விவாகம்பண்ணப்போகிற தன் மருமக்கள்மாரோடே பேசி: நீங்கள் எழுந்து இந்த ஸ்தலத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்படுங்கள்; கர்த்தர் இந்தப் பட்டணத்தை அழிக்கப்போகிறார் என்றான்; அவனுடைய மருமக்கள்மாரின் பார்வைக்கு அவன் பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறதாகக் கண்டது.

14. And Lot went forth and spake unto his sons-in law who were about to take his two daughters and said Arise come forth out of this place, for Yahweh is about to destroy the city. And it came to pass, that he was as one that laughed, in the eyes of his sons-in-law.

15. கிழக்கு வெளுக்கும்போது அந்தத் தூதர் லோத்தை நோக்கி: பட்டணத்திற்கு வரும் தண்டனையில் நீ அழியாதபடிக்கு எழுந்து, உன் மனைவியையும், இங்கே இருக்கிற உன் இரண்டு குமாரத்திகளையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோ என்று சொல்லி, அவனைத் துரிதப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

15. But as soon as, the dawn had sprung up, the messengers hastened Lot saying, Arise! take thy wife and thy two daughters that are at hand, lest thou be swept away in the punishment of the city.

16. அவன் தாமதித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, கர்த்தர் அவன்மேல் வைத்த இரக்கத்தினாலே, அந்தப் புருஷர் அவன் கையையும், அவன் மனைவியின் கையையும், அவன் இரண்டு குமாரத்திகளின் கையையும் பிடித்து, அவனைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோய் விட்டார்கள்.

16. And he lingered so the men laid hold of his hand and of the hand of his wife and of the hand of his two daughters, in the tenderness of Yahweh towards him, and they brought him out and led him forth outside the city.

17. அவர்களை வெளியே கொண்டுபோய்விட்டபின்பு, அவர்: உன் ஜீவன் தப்ப ஓடிப்போ, பின்னிட்டுப் பாராதே; இந்தச் சமபூமியில் எங்கும் நில்லாதே; நீ அழியாதபடிக்கு மலைக்கு ஓடிப்போ என்றார்.
லூக்கா 17:31-32

17. And it came to pass when they had brought them forth outside, that they said, Escape for thy life, Look not behind thee, neither stand still in all the vale, To the mountain, escape thou lest thou be swept away.

18. அதற்கு லோத்து: அப்படியல்ல ஆண்டவரே,

18. And Lot said unto them, No, I pray thee, My Lord!

19. உமது கண்களில் உமது அடியேனுக்குக் கிருபைகிடைத்ததே; என் பிராணனைக் காக்கத் தேவரீர் எனக்குச் செய்த கிருபையைப் பெரிதாக விளங்கப்பண்ணினீர்; மலைக்கு ஓடிப்போக என்னால் முடியாது, தீங்கு என்னைத் தொடரும், நான் மரித்துப்போவேன்.

19. Behold, I pray thee thy servant hath found favour in thine eyes, so that thou hast magnified thy lovingkindness which thou hast performed with me in keeping alive my soul. But, I, cannot escape to the mountain, lest calamity overtake me so shall I die.

20. அதோ, அந்த ஊர் இருக்கிறதே, நான் அதற்கு ஓடிப்போகத்தக்கதாய் அது கிட்ட இருக்கிறது, சின்னதுமாய் இருக்கிறது; என் பிராணன் பிழைக்க நான் அங்கே ஓடிப்போகட்டும், அது சின்ன ஊர்தானே என்றான்.

20. Behold, I pray thee, this city, is near for fleeing thither And, it, is a little one, let me I pray thee, escape thither is it not a, little, one? That my soul may live!

21. அதற்கு அவர்: நீ கேட்டுக்கொண்ட ஊரை நான் கவிழ்த்துப்போடாதபடிக்கு, இந்த விஷயத்திலும் உனக்கு அநுக்கிரகம் பண்ணினேன்.

21. And he said unto him, Behold! I have lifted up thy countenance, even as to this thing, so that I will not overthrow the city, of which thou hast spoken.

22. தீவிரமாய் அங்கே ஓடித் தப்பித்துக்கொள்; நீ அங்கே போய்ச் சேருமட்டும் நான் ஒன்றும் செய்யக்கூடாது என்றார்; ஆகையால் அந்த ஊர் சோவார் என்னப்பட்டது.

22. Haste thee escape thither, for I cannot do anything, until thou have come in thither. For this cause: was the name of the city called Zoar.

23. லோத்து சோவாருக்குள் வரும்போது பூமியின்மேல் சூரியன் உதித்தது.

23. When, the sun, had come forth on the earth, Lot had entered into Zoar.

24. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் சோதோமின் மேலும் கொமோராவின்மேலும், கர்த்தராலே வானத்திலிருந்து கந்தகத்தையும் அக்கினியையும் வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணி,

24. And, Yahweh, rained, upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah, brimstone and fire, from Yahweh, out of the heavens:

25. அந்தப் பட்டணங்களையும், அந்தச் சமபூமியனைத்தையும், அந்தப் பட்டணங்களின் எல்லாக் குடிகளையும், பூமியின் பயிரையும் அழித்துப்போட்டார்.

25. so he overthrew these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and the produce of the ground.

26. அவன் மனைவியோ பின்னிட்டுப்பார்த்து, உப்புத்தூண் ஆனாள்.
லூக்கா 17:31

26. But his wife looked from behind him, and became a pillar of salt.

27. விடியற்காலத்தில் ஆபிரகாம் எழுந்து தான் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நின்ற இடத்திற்குப் போய்,

27. And Abraham gat up early in the morning, unto the place where he had stood before Yahweh;

28. சோதோம் கொமோரா பட்டணங்களின் திசையையும், சமபூமியாகிய தேசம் முழுவதையும் நோக்கிப் பார்த்தான்; அந்தப் பூமியின் புகை சூளையின் புகையைப்போல எழும்பிற்று.
வெளிப்படுத்தின விசேஷம் 9:2

28. and he looked out over the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and over all the face of the land of the circuit, and beheld and lo! the smoke of the land went up, like the smoke of a furnace.

29. தேவன் அந்தச் சமபூமியின் பட்டணங்களை அழிக்கும்போது, தேவன் ஆபிரகாமை நினைத்து, லோத்து குடியிருந்த பட்டணங்களைத் தாம் கவிழ்த்துப்போடுகையில், லோத்தை அந்த அழிவின் நடுவிலிருந்து தப்பிப்போகும்படி அனுப்பிவிட்டார்.

29. And it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the circuit, that God remembered Abraham, and sent forth Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities wherein Lot had dwelt.

30. பின்பு லோத்து சோவாரிலே குடியிருக்கப் பயந்து, சோவாரை விட்டுப்போய், அவனும் அவனோடேகூட அவனுடைய இரண்டு குமாரத்திகளும் மலையிலே வாசம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அங்கே அவனும் அவனுடைய இரண்டு குமாரத்திகளும் ஒரு கெபியிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

30. And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain and his two daughters with him. for he feared to dwell in Zoar, so he dwelt in a cave, he, and his two daughters.

31. அப்பொழுது மூத்தவள் இளையவளைப் பார்த்து: நம்முடைய தகப்பன் முதிர்வயதானார், பூமியெங்கும் நடக்கிற முறைமையின்படியே நம்மோடே சேரப்பூமியிலே ஒரு புருஷனும் இல்லை.

31. And the firstborn said unto the younger. Our father is old, and, a man, there is not in the earth to come in unto us, after the way of all the earth.

32. நம்முடைய தகப்பனால் சந்ததி உண்டாகும்படிக்கு, அவருக்கு மதுவைக் குடிக்கக்கொடுத்து, அவரோடே சயனிப்போம் வா என்றாள்.

32. Come on! let us cause our father to drink wine and let us lie with him, that we may keep alive from our father, a seed.

33. அப்படியே அன்று இரவிலே, தங்கள் தகப்பனுக்கு மதுவைக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தார்கள். மூத்தவள் போய், தன் தகப்பனோடே சயனித்தாள்: அவள் சயனித்ததையும் எழுந்திருந்ததையும் அவன் உணராதிருந்தான்.

33. So they caused their father to drink wine that night, and the firstborn went in. and lay with her father, but he noticed not her lying down nor her rising up.

34. மறுநாளிலே மூத்தவள் இளையவளைப் பார்த்து: நேற்று ராத்திரி நான் தகப்பனோடே சயனித்தேன்; இன்று ராத்திரியும் மதுவைக் குடிக்கக்கொடுப்போம், நம்முடைய தகப்பனால் சந்ததி உண்டாகும்படி நீ போய் அவரோடே சயனி என்றாள்.

34. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Lo! I lay, last night with my father, let us cause him to drink wine this night also, and go thou in lie with him, that we may keep alive from our father, a seed.

35. அப்படியே அன்று ராத்திரியிலும் தங்கள் தகப்பனுக்கு மதுவைக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது இளையவள் எழுந்துபோய், அவனோடே சயனித்தாள்; அவள் சயனித்ததையும் எழுந்திருந்ததையும் அவன் உணராதிருந்தான்.

35. So they caused their father, on that night also to drink wine, and the younger arose, and lay with him, but he noticed not her lying down, nor her rising up.

36. இவ்விதமாய் லோத்தின் குமாரத்திகள் இருவரும் தங்கள் தகப்பனாலே கர்ப்பவதியானார்கள்.

36. Thus did, the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father.

37. மூத்தவள் ஒரு குமாரனைப்பெற்று, அவனுக்கு மோவாப் என்று பேரிட்டாள்; அவன் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிற மோவாபியருக்குத் தகப்பன்.

37. And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab, the same, is the father of Moab, unto this day.

38. இளையவளும் ஒரு குமாரனைப்பெற்று, அவனுக்குப் பென்னம்மி என்று பேரிட்டாள்; அவன் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிற அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்குத் தகப்பன்.

38. And the younger she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi, the same, is the father of the sons of Ammon unto this day.
