1. ஆபிராம் தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது வயதானபோது, கர்த்தர் ஆபிராமுக்குத் தரிசனமாகி: நான் சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள தேவன்; நீ எனக்கு முன்பாக நடந்துகொண்டு உத்தமனாயிரு.

1. Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord came to him and said, 'I am God All-powerful. Obey Me, and be without blame.

2. நான் உனக்கும் எனக்கும் நடுவாக என் உடன்படிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்தி, உன்னை மிகவும் திரளாய்ப் பெருகப்பண்ணுவேன் என்றார்.

2. And I will keep My agreement between Me and you. I will give you many children.'

3. அப்பொழுது ஆபிராம் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து வணங்கினான். தேவன் அவனோடே பேசி:

3. Then Abram fell on his face. God said to him,

4. நான் உன்னோடே பண்ணுகிற என் உடன்படிக்கை என்னவென்றால், நீ திரளான ஜாதிகளுக்குத் தகப்பனாவாய்.

4. 'See, My agreement is with you. You will be the father of many nations.

5. இனி உன் பேர் ஆபிராம் என்னப்படாமல், நான் உன்னைத் திரளான ஜாதிகளுக்குத் தகப்பனாக ஏற்படுத்தினபடியால், உன் பேர் ஆபிரகாம் என்னப்படும்.

5. No more will your name be Abram. But your name will be Abraham. For I will make you the father of many nations.

6. உன்னை மிகவும் அதிகமாய்ப் பலுகப்பண்ணி, உன்னிலே ஜாதிகளை உண்டாக்குவேன்; உன்னிடத்திலிருந்து ராஜாக்கள் தோன்றுவார்கள்.

6. Many will come from you. I will make nations of you. Kings will come from you.

7. உனக்கும் உனக்குப் பின்வரும் உன் சந்ததிக்கும் நான் தேவனாயிருக்கும்படி எனக்கும் உனக்கும், உனக்குப்பின் தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாக வரும் உன் சந்ததிக்கும் நடுவே, என் உடன்படிக்கையை நித்திய உடன்படிக்கையாக ஸ்தாபிப்பேன்.

7. I will make My agreement between Me and you and your children after you through their whole lives for all time. I will be God to you and to your children's children after you.

8. I will give to you and your children after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan for yourselves forever. And I will be their God.'

9. Then God said to Abraham, 'You must keep My agreement, you and your children after you for all time.

10. This is My agreement between Me and you and your children after you, which you must obey: Every man among you must have this religious act done.

11. உங்கள் நுனித்தோலின் மாம்சத்தை விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணக்கடவீர்கள்; அது எனக்கும் உங்களுக்குமுள்ள உடன்படிக்கைக்கு அடையாளமாயிருக்கும்.

11. In this religious act the skin is cut off from the end of your sex part. This will be the special act of the agreement between Me and you.

12. உங்களில் தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாகப் பிறக்கும் ஆண்பிள்ளைகளெல்லாம் எட்டாம் நாளிலே விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்படவேண்டும்; வீட்டிலே பிறந்த பிள்ளையும் உன் வித்தல்லாத அந்நியனிடத்தில் பணத்திற்குக் கொள்ளப்பட்ட எந்தப் பிள்ளையும், அப்படியே விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்படவேண்டும்.

12. Every male child among you who is eight days old must have this religious act done, through all time. The same must be done to all the men born in your house or bought with your money from any stranger, who is not one of your family.

13. உன் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த பிள்ளையும், உன் பணத்திற்குக் கொள்ளப்பட்டவனும், விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்படவேண்டியது அவசியம்; இப்படி என் உடன்படிக்கை உங்கள் மாம்சத்திலே நித்திய உடன்படிக்கையாக இருக்கக்கடவது.

13. He that is born in your house and he that is bought with your money must have this religious act done. So will My agreement be marked in your flesh, an agreement that lasts forever.

14. நுனித்தோலின் மாம்சம் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்படாதிருக்கிற நுனித்தோலுள்ள ஆண்பிள்ளையிருந்தால், அந்த ஆத்துமா என் உடன்படிக்கையை மீறினபடியால், தன் ஜனத்தில் இராதபடிக்கு அறுப்புண்டுபோவான் என்றார்.

14. But the man who has not had this religious act done, of cutting off his piece of skin, will be cut off from his people. He has broken My agreement.'

15. பின்னும் தேவன் ஆபிரகாமை நோக்கி: உன் மனைவி சாராயை இனி சாராய் என்று அழையாதிருப்பாயாக; சாராள் என்பது அவளுக்குப் பேராயிருக்கும்.

15. Then God said to Abraham, 'As for Sarai your wife, do not call her name Sarai. But Sarah will be her name.

16. நான் அவளை ஆசீர்வதித்து, அவளாலே உனக்கு ஒரு குமாரனையும் தருவேன்; அவள் ஜாதிகளுக்குத் தாயாகவும், அவளாலே ஜாதிகளின் ராஜாக்கள் உண்டாகவும், அவளை ஆசீர்வதிப்பேன் என்றார்.

16. And I will bring good to her. I will give you a son by her. I will bring good to her. And she will be the mother of nations. Kings of many people will come from her.'

17. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து நகைத்து: நூறுவயதானவனுக்குப் பிள்ளை பிறக்குமோ? தொண்ணூறு வயதான சாராள் பிள்ளை பெறுவாளோ? என்று தன் இருதயத்திலே சொல்லிக்கொண்டு,

17. Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed. He said to himself, 'Will a child be born to a man who is 100 years old?

18. இஸ்மவேல் உமக்கு முன்பாகப் பிழைப்பானாக! என்று ஆபிரகாம் தேவனிடத்தில் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினான்.

18. Then Abraham said to God, 'If only Ishmael might live before You!'

19. அப்பொழுது தேவன்: உன் மனைவியாகிய சாராள் நிச்சயமாய் உனக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெறுவாள், அவனுக்கு ஈசாக்கு என்று பேரிடுவாயாக; என் உடன்படிக்கையை அவனுக்கும் அவனுக்குப் பின்வரும் அவன் சந்ததிக்கும் நித்திய உடன்படிக்கையாக ஸ்தாபிப்பேன்.

19. But God said, 'No, but your wife Sarah will give birth to your son. And you will give him the name Isaac. I will make My agreement with him and for his children after him, an agreement that will last forever.

20. இஸ்மவேலுக்காகவும் நீ செய்த விண்ணப்பத்தைக் கேட்டேன்; நான் அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து, அவனை மிகவும் அதிகமாகப் பலுகவும் பெருகவும் பண்ணுவேன்; அவன் பன்னிரண்டு பிரபுக்களைப் பெறுவான்; அவனைப் பெரிய ஜாதியாக்குவேன்.

20. As for Ishmael, I have heard you. I will bring good to him. I will make him grow in number. He will be the father of twelve rulers. I will make him a great nation.

21. வருகிற வருஷத்தில் குறித்தக்காலத்திலே சாராள் உனக்குப் பெறப்போகிற ஈசாக்கோடே நான் என் உடன்படிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்துவேன் என்றார்.

21. But I will make My agreement with Isaac, who will be born to Sarah at this time next year.'

22. தேவன் ஆபிரகாமோடே பேசிமுடிந்தபின்பு, அவர் அவனைவிட்டு எழுந்தருளினார்.

22. When He had finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.

23. அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தன் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலையும், தன் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த யாவரையும், தான் பணத்திற்குக் கொண்ட அனைவருமாகிய தன் வீட்டிலுள்ள ஆண்பிள்ளைகள் எல்லாரையும் சேர்த்து, தேவன் தனக்குச் சொன்னபடி, அவர்கள் நுனித்தோலின் மாம்சத்தை அந்நாளிலேதானே விருத்தசேதனம் பண்ணினான்.

23. Then Abraham took his son Ishmael, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money, and every man and boy who lived in his house. And he cut off their piece of skin that very day, as God had told him to do.

24. ஆபிரகாமுடைய நுனித்தோலின் மாம்சம் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்படும்போது, அவன் தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது வயதாயிருந்தான்.

24. Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he had the religious act done of cutting off his piece of skin.

25. அவனுடைய குமாரன் இஸ்மவேலுடைய நுனித்தோலின் மாம்சம் விருத்தசேதனம் பண்ணப்படும்போது, அவன் பதின்மூன்று வயதாயிருந்தான்.

25. His son Ishmael was thirteen years old when he had the religious act done of cutting off his piece of skin.

26. ஒரே நாளில் ஆபிரகாமும் அவன் குமாரன் இஸ்மவேலும் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்.

26. Abraham and his son Ishmael had this religious act done that very day.

27. வீட்டிலே பிறந்தவர்களும் அந்நியரிடத்திலே பணத்திற்குக் கொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களுமாகிய அவன் வீட்டு மனுஷர்கள் எல்லாரும் அவனோடேகூட விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்.

27. And all the men of his house, who were born in the house or bought with money from a stranger, had this religious act done with him.
